Wedded To The Ruthless Mafia Boss

My one request

Ch. 149 / 166 Jan 15, 2026

"Please have a seat." The Doctor said when they entered his office. He shut the door, walking down to perch on the armchair in the office. Pulling out his glasses, he rubbed his palms together and began. "She was unconscious before she was rushed here and now she's fallen into a coma."

"Again?" Darian questioned, worried.

"Again? Has she ever been in a coma?"

"Yes, she has," Lena replied to the Doctor. "But that doesn't matter here, what can we do to help her?" She asked the Doctor, her eyes intently fixed on him.

"You have to be patient. Her amnesia is messing with her health, and she's been stressing her brain lately. The stress led to the severe migraine, that was why she passed out." She nodded her head understandably as the Doctor explained to them.

"She's been trying a lot to remember things from her past, I guess so." Leaning on the armchair, the Doctor played with a pen in his hand. His lips quivered into a small scowl, he heaved a sigh and continued. "You talked about her falling into a coma. When did this happen?"

"About two months ago before she was brought here." Darian responded. "I thought she's agile because she's been showing signs of being too strong."

"She's battling with amnesia and she can never be too strong. It breaks one heart when they can't remember anything from their previous life."

"She didn't completely lose her memory, Doctor. She still remembers the man she fell in love with many years ago."

"The memories they shared must be very pleasant. If she can only remember him, then they must have been very happy together and made unforgettable memories." He explained to Darian and Lena. "This lover of hers, where is he?"

Darian looked at Lena and back to the Doctor. He shook his head and said, "He's dead, he died years ago."

"I see. He would have been a great help to her if he was alive. Seeing him can trigger her lost memories and she wouldn't have to suffer this severe migraine whenever she tries to remember something from the past." The Doctor said, kneading his clean shaven head with his fingers.

"Doctor, when will she be awake?" Darian asked.

"As soon as she gets better, she's not on her way to death. She just went to relax up there for a moment. Let her get the rest she deserves, she's holding in too much and she's suffering so much. She's fighting for her life and trying so hard to get back her memories. She needs to rest for a little bit, she will soon wake up to life."

"I hope so," Darian said nervously. "Can we see her?" He asked.

"She will be transferred to the ICU and then, you can see her there."

"Doctor, is there a way she can get back the memories?" Lena chirped in.

"Mrs Dawson, we always advise that she stays around her family. People whom she's shared time with, in the past. Staying around them can boost her chances of getting back her memories. Some cases report short-term amnesia and here the patient doesn't have to wait too long to regain their memory. But for long-term amnesia, it takes a lot of time to regain one's memory if one goes through that one. Sometimes they don't remember whatever happened in their past before they die, and that's exactly what's wrong with Isabella."

"Are you saying that she would never remember her Past?" Lena's mouth was wide open as she asked the Doctor.

"No, I am not saying that. But it is possible that she doesn't remember anymore."

Darian heaved a sigh, wondering why he wanted Isabella to live. She knew nothing about him, but he wanted her to be well again and understand all that he had to say to her.

"When will she be transferred to the ICU?" Lena asked.

"As soon as I give the orders. I just want to give you a heads up about her health before moving her." He answered.

"Thank you very much, Doctor." Lena smiled, she had been dying of suspense. Even though Isabella was unconscious, she was certain she would get better.

-

After the ICU was shown to them, Darian and Lena went in to see Isabella. A life support machine was fixed to her body, several strands of drips, including blood and water, ran through her veins. She was breathing faintly as they watched her together.

"Life has never been fair to her."Lena said, shaking her head.

Darian simply nodded, agreeing to her words.

"Watch over her, I want to tell Jay to bring us some things." Patting his back, she took one more look at Isabella and walked out of the room.

When she was gone, Darian relaxed on the chair in the room. Folding his arms against his shoulders, he heaved a sigh. "Sometimes I want to talk to you and let you know that you are my mother, but other times, the anger that surges through me whenever I see you wouldn't let me." He stretched out his hand to touch her, but he stopped himself. "My father was never nice to me, he missed you all the time and treated me so badly and I wanted to know you, see you, meet the woman who birthed and abandoned me. It was surprising to know that you are alive, but even after knowing that, I still flopped big time. I treated you in so many harsh ways and I am sorry about that."

He threw his head backwards and continued. "I thought I hated to know that my mother is still alive. I thought getting mad and being mean would make me feel better but it only turned me into a beast." He smiled bitterly. "I am sorry for everything that I have done and said to you. I have only one request and that's for you to open those eyes and come back to life again. I promise you that it will be different this time, I have let go of my egos and all I want to be to you is a better person. Please come back to my life, I need you and my wife wants you more too."

Lena leaned against the door, listening to all the words Darian was whispering to Isabella. She walked in, smiling as she approached him.

"Jay will be here soon, what will you like him to get for you at home?"

"Lena," Darian suddenly stood up when he heard Jay's name.

Jay walked in at that time and Darian said. "Jay, call all the members of the Dawson family and let them know that there is an urgent sit-down today by 2 pm." He commanded.

Jay wanted to ask him why he wanted to have another urgent meeting with the family when he just left them a few hours ago, but he stopped himself.

Jay nodded his head, he pulled out his phone to dial the numbers as directed by his boss.

"What's going on, Darian?" Lena asked confusingly. "Why did you call for a meeting?"

"Lena, some things are best solved when they are discussed." He pulled her closer and kissed her cheeks. "You don't have to worry about me, I will be fine." He let go of her.

Lena nodded her head, she still didn't understand what he meant by that, but she was willing to trust his words with the hope that what he was about to do wouldn't be detrimental to him.
