As Uncle Kent lay in his bed, staring at the ceiling, he heard a faint knock on the door. He sighed and rolled over, not feeling too well to answer the door, but the knocking continued with whosoever it was persistent, as it kept growing louder and more insistent.
He finally decided to answer the door, even though his body ached with every movement -it wasn't even up to twelve hours since he was put away from the life monitor. When he opened the door, he saw a package on the doorstep. He frowned and looked around, but there was no one in sight, his face was squeezed into a displeased expression.
He reached down and picked up the package and returned to his sickbed, turning it over in his hands. It was addressed to him, and it was sealed tight.
Uncle Kent was puzzled and confused at the same time. Who would have sent him a package in the hospital? And why had they left it anonymously? He looked down at the package, considering whether to open it. He knew it could be dangerous, but his curiosity got the better of him.
He carefully opened the package, revealing a small video recorder. Furthermore, he looked at it for a moment, unsure of what to do with it, but eventually, he decided to press play. Not only that, but he didn't know what he was about to see, but he had a feeling it would change everything -his hairs on their edge.
The screen flickered to life, and Uncle Kent saw himself on the screen, which took him off guard -has someone been filming him without his permission? Those were his disturbed thoughts.
He was sitting in one of his favorite restaurants and was talking to someone off the camera. The voice was muffled, and he couldn't make out what was being said. But then, the camera panned to reveal the person he was talking to.
It was his brother, Ferdinand.
Uncle Kent felt his heart start to pound as he watched the video. He could tell that something wasn't right. Uncle Ferdinand's face was pale, and he looked terrified, and he knew for sure that someone had been tailing him without his knowledge. He kept glancing around the room, as if he was afraid of being watched.
Suddenly, the video cut to a different scene. Uncle Kent was shocked to see that it was now Brandon on the screen, his expression full of fear and remorse. Uncle Kent couldn't believe his eyes as he watched Uncle Brandon begin to speak, his whole body covered in bruises.
"If it's the truth you want to hear, fine then, I'll tell you since Ferdinand already betrayed and ratted us out already..."Brandon breathed out in approval and proceeded into confessing to Ciara on how they planned the entire scene.
As Uncle Kent watched, Uncle Brandon continued to speak, tears streaming down his face. "It was Ferdinand who brought up the idea of taking Fellers away from the start, and I supported him. We had to convince Kent to do it, and he brought up the idea of tampering with their car, Kent made me do it, but I wasn't successful with it..."
He proceeded into telling Ciara how he informed Kent about his unsuccessful work, who asked him to leave immediately without raising any suspicious, promising to do the work himself and that was what led to her parent's death.
"Why...?" Uncle Kent heard a feminine blurted out, and he knows who it was even though her voice was barely audible in the videotape. "Why did you guys do this?"
"Isn't it obvious?" He said with an air of irritation, glaring in the videotape. "Fellers has everything anyone could wish for-wealth, fame, a loving family too. We asked him to add our children to his will, but he refused, he only offered us money to set up our business; it would never be enough."
Uncle Kent felt like the floor had dropped out from under him. He couldn't believe what he was hearing as he watched each of his younger siblings confess to the truth and admit to how evil they were.
Uncle Kent was still staring at the video, his mind reeling, when he heard a soft voice behind him.
"I learned about everything, uncle Kent..."He heard Ciara's voice whispering behind him, her tone was calm and clear. "I know the truth now."
Uncle Kent spun around, his heart racing. He wasn't sure what to say, how to explain himself. He just stood there, frozen in place, as Ciara's gaze bore into him.
"How could you do this?" She asked him, her voice shaking slightly, but her gaze was cold with invincible glaciers behind its barriers. "How could you kill my parents?"
Instead of a reply, uncle Kent was shaking vigorously, his whole system in turmoil as he finds it hard to digest the truth. Images of his brothers' confession kept flashing before him, which made it seems like his breathing had seized for a moment.
"Go live and confess to your sins, and you'll be a free man!" She told him, a dark smirk on her face. "I give you 24 hours, else this videotape will appear on every blog and press and everyone will know how evil you're and what you've done."
"You want me to confess?" Uncle Kent asked, his voice trembling and adding to the sudden cold he felt few moments ago. "You want me to tell the world what I did?"
Ciara nodded, her eyes full of sadness and anger. "I want you to face the consequences of your actions." She lilted, her voice far from friendly. "I want justice for my parents, I want the world to know what you did."
"But they'll hate me." Uncle Kent stuttered, his eyes filling with tears. "I'll be disgraced, ruined. I'll be hated and reviled. Is that really what you want?"
As Uncle Kent spoke, Ciara could see the fear and desperation in his eyes. But she was determined to see this through, no matter the cost.
"I don't care what happens to you." She vocalized, her voice hard as steel. "You've ruined my life, and you deserve to pay for it. I don't care if the world hates you, I want you to face the consequences of your actions and if you fail to do it before your given time -I'll keep to my promise..."
As she spoke, Uncle Kent's breathing grew more and more labored, which made him to clutch at his chest and fell hard to the ground, gasping for air. He tried reaching out for his inhaler to be injected in his mouth, but it was out of his reach.
Ciara stood there, her back resting on the white painted wall just a few feet away from the struggling man. Her face was stoic. Her eyes were cold. And anyone could tell that she did not care -not even a bit!
She was pressing her phone without lending the labored breathing man a help, she only stood there to watch without moving an inch from where she stood. There are many things she badly wanted -which was seeing the end of her miserable uncles, and one of them is about to go down!
After several minutes, his body went limp. Ciara bent before him and placed her fingers before his nostrils, and she confirmed he's gone lifeless; she knows better than placing a finger on him -it'll only get things implicated.
Satisfied with the new result, she smirked, and she gently shook her head in satisfaction. "RIP to the dead..."She asserted and left the ward...
