Chapter100

Ch. 100 / 196 Sep 18, 2024

Mr. Vizio's car arrived at the restaurant where the Feller's Firm had reserved for the brief meeting. He was mesmerized the environment as he nodded in satisfaction, this was very much up to his taste -just as he love it.

"It's means the company owner herself is loaded too." Mr. Vizio said to his personal assistant.

"Yeah. Who doesn't know the Feller's Firm in States?" Mr. Vizio's secretary, Blake, responded with a rhetorical question. "The company might be quite popular in States but no one knows who has been operating the company for the past few years except her staffs -it's only proven that she's a female."

"Quite an interesting story, I would say." Mr. Vizio uttered with a lopsided smirk.

"She's not only loaded but a woman with secrets and her company has the popularity in States?"

"You are right!" Blake nodded in agreement. "There are many rumor surrounding her though -some rumored that she was too young to handle the company alone then, since she inherited the company from her parents after their death."

"Oh!" Mr. Vizio mouthed, completely amused. "She's quite a topic herself, I'm interested in her already. I got eyes for quite zealous women as hers and I'm not sure I'm letting her pass me by. What do you think, Blake?"

"I'm not sure -but you can sure give it a try..." Blake enunciated, picking his words slowly. "Who knows? You might be the lucky winner."

Mr. Vizio's brows was creased, a tight frown settled on his face. "What do you mean by lucky winner, Blake?" He demanded in a gruff voice. "It's not like I'm competing for a medal or something of sort."

"-amongst the numerous rumors about her, she has no record of any man to have dated her before." Blake responded. "It's either she had them all turned down orthey are too scared to face her-no one is certain about the two facts." "This makes me even more interested in her." Mr. Vizio uttered with a grin on his face. "She might be a weak inside with these facts as a facade to shade her real self. Even if she's really a hard nut to crack, I don't take no for an answer-no one has ever turn me down before."

"I know, right?" Blake enounced with a soft chuckle. "No one dare turn you -the Ms. is in fora long ride."

Mr. Vizio only smirked at Blake's praise words and checked his wrist watch. "I'll be off now." He said to Blake. "It's almost seven, just fifteen minutes before it hits seven."

"I bet that she will be here anytime soon..." Blake replied. "You play the gentleman role before hitting on your target."

Mr. Vizio scoffs at his phrase. "I don't play the gentleman role for no lady, it's always the other way round -and you knowthis, Blake." He uttered with enthusiasm, wearing a proud smile on his face. "I'm too hot forsuch, you know."

"Ah -yeah, right!" Blake concurred. He hastily got down from the driver's seat and rushed to the passenger seat, opening the doorfor his boss. Mr. Vizio got down from the car slowly and stepped aside for Blake to shut the door.

"You wait here in the car till I return, Blake." He told him. "You better don't move an inch away from my car, you know what happens if you do."

His words were not a threat, it's just what he will do. "Sure, Mr. Vizio, I won't..." Blake hastily replied, nodding his head multiple times as he answered.

Mr. Vizio did not bother to reply him or spare him a glance as he walked past him towards the restaurant's building. Blake only sighed before getting into the car as he turn the music's volume up -he would listen to pass time till his boss arrival.

The waitress lead Mr. Vizio to the reserved area, offering him a seat politely. "Should I serve the menu now, sir?" She requested, her head slightly bowed.

"No, not now." Mr. Vizio turned her down. "Just get the lastest magazine around and a glass of water too -that's enough for now."

She bowed and left his sight, returning the next minute with a magazine and the glass of water as demanded by Mr. Vizio. She placed the water on the table and offered him magazine.

He collect it from her. "You can go, I'll let you know when I need anything." He said, dismissing her off. She did say nothing but only nodded slowly before withdrawing from his presence.

Mr. Vizio's attention was buried in the magazine he was reading when his guest rushed towards the table, drawing out a seat to have her seat as she rushed out her words -Mr. Vizio checked his wrist watch and she was seven minutes late.

"I'm sorry I arrive late, Mr. Vizio. I was stuck in the..."

"There was no traffic this evening, Ms..." He cut her off as he raised his head from the magazine he was reading to meet her gaze.

Their eyes locked, and for a brief moment, they were both taken aback by the expression they saw on each other's face. An uncomfortable silence filled the room.

Finally, Ciara broke the silence. "Damien...?" she asked, her voice was a bit hesitant, doubting her sight.

"Ciara...?" he replied, his voice equally unsure. It was clear that something had shifted between them. They were both unsettled, unsure of what to say next.

Ciara adjusted the chair and sits down properly, unsure of what to say to him. He wondered why he's the one on seat when she was supposed to have a business conversation with one Mr. Vizio.

"Why are you here, Damien?" As expected, she's always the one to break awkward silences. "I did not expect to run into you in such a place as this."

"I'm equally surprised as you, Cee." He told her in reply. "I'm here for a business talk, I would say -running into an old highschool friend is equally out of the picture."

"I supposed you are the Mr. Vizio I'm expected to meet with then?" She said and he nodded positively in affirmation. "Oh, wow! This is surprising though."

"Not as surprised as I am, Cee." He uttered with an almost invincible smile. "It's good to see you again after so many years but I would say this is an awkward way to reunite with some old friend."

"I did not agree with you, Mr. Vizio..."

He cut her off abruptly, a displeased look settled on his face. "It's Damien, Cee. Just Damien!" He corrected. "It sound awkward hearing you add honorific to my name -I would accept such address from anyone but not from you, Cee."

"We are here to discuss business and not to exchange pleasantries and catch up on old times, Mr. Vizio." She sternly told him which result into a hard glare from him.

"Fine! Damien! Are you happy now?"

"I'll ask the waitress to serve us the menu first." Damien said, his smile was visible as he speaks. "We should eat and talk about those few years we've lost, it's heart filling to see you afterthese years, Cee."

"Why?" She demanded, her voice still stern. "Are we in some kind of reunion or what?"

Damien chuckled softly. "You haven't changed still, Cee." He pointed out to her. "Business can come in later but for now -let's wine and dine first..."
