Christine's smile disappeared when she heard what the manager said.
She stared at the manager.
Christine used to be a rogue, and Patrick saved her back then.
Patrick asked her to join the Black Thorn Pack. When Patrick found out that she had Alpha's blood, he asked her to help him run the Fittro Club.
Although the manager of the Public Relations Department was also from the Black Thorn Pack, she did not have Alpha's blood.
Therefore, when Christine showed her Alpha aura, the manager immediately felt the pressure.
"Emily, I asked Gloria to work in your department. Are you questioning my decision or judgment?"
Cold sweat dripped down Emily's forehead. She quickly denied it, "I didn't. If you think highly of her, then I will spend more time teaching her. Christine, I have to go now. I still have work to do."
Christine stood in place. When she heard that Gloria wanted to rest for a few days, she was pleased. Finally, the silly girl was willing to take some rest.
"Great, she finally learned to take a rest." Christine rubbed her nose in relief. Christine was afraid that Gloria would run over and ask her for more work.
"That's so relieving." Christine breathed a sigh of relief. She was in a good mood.
When Lillian went downstairs, she bumped into a colleague and called, "Vanessa, did Mr. Fisher come today?"
Vanessa was the "good friend" that Lillian previously regarded as a "traitor". She was also the waitress who was called away by Annie when Lillian mentioned Yuna and Ruby's matter.
"No, I didn't hear about that. If Mr. Fisher came, the girls would know it," Vanessa said straightforwardly. "Why? Lillian, do you also like Mr. Fisher?"
When Lillian heard Vanessa's words, she immediately glanced at her.
Then, she pretended to ask casually, "Vanessa, do you like Mr. Fisher?"
Vanessa waved her hand. "It's not just me but so many others. Many girls like Mr. Fisher."
Lillian breathed a sigh of relief. She said to Vanessa, "Fortunately, you don't like Mr. Fisher. He is no ordinary man and will only choose his girlfriend from those outstanding girls. Mr. Fisher comes to the club only for fun. Vanessa, therefore, you shouldn't fall for him like other girls, or he will break your heart."
After Lillian finished speaking, she saw that Vanessa lowered her head and did not speak. She held Vanessa's hand. "Vanessa, what I said is for your own good. Look, I didn't tell others about this. As your friend, I don't want to see you get hurt."
Vanessa looked a little embarrassed. "I know, Lillian. I have to go to work now."
For some reason, though Lillian said that it was for her good, Vanessa felt frustrated.
Lillian saw Vanessa's expression but ignored it. She looked at the time on her phone. She quickly left Fittro Club and rushed to the hospital.
When she entered the ward, she saw that Gloria was still asleep. She said to herself, "What a headache."
She just talked to the doctor and learned that the wound on Gloria's forehead was not as bad as it looked. It looked bad because Gloria wasn't sent to the hospital a bit late.
The real problem was that Gloria was too weak.
When Gloria woke up, it was already the afternoon of the next day. Her high fever had gone, but her body temperature was still higher than normal.
She opened her eyes and said in a hoarse voice, "I'm thirsty..."
Gloria's voice woke Lillian up. Lillian glanced at Gloria and said impatiently, "Wait a minute."
Then, Lillian turned around and fetched a glass of water for Gloria.
Gloria took the glass and drank the water silently.
After that, Gloria still didn't speak.
It was quiet in the ward.
Gloria looked down. She was waiting.
Suddenly, Lillian said, "You hit your forehead on the doorknob, and it will leave a scar. However, you seem to have one already. So, the new scar is not a big deal. You don't have to tell anyone about this. I have asked for leave on your behalf. When your fever is gone, you can go to work. I have paid your medical bill, and I'll bring you food while you stay in the hospital."
Gloria did not speak. Lillian got mad and thought that she was being ungrateful.
She complained, "Did you hear me? I'm not all responsible for this. You are to blame too. How could you sleep outside the room after being drenched in the rain? This is why you had a high fever. I just touched you yet you fell to the ground."
Gloria was silent.
Lillian couldn't help but raise her voice. She shouted, "What do you want? I took you to the hospital! If I didn't take you here in time, you would have died from a high fever. I also paid for your medical bill. Why don't you say anything? Gloria, tell me how much money do you want to keep this a secret?"
Gloria kept her head down and didn't say anything.
Lillian was even angrier. She shouted, "Just tell me what else you want!"
She thought that Gloria would ask for a lot of money since she cared so much about it.
Gloria slowly raised her head and looked at Lillian. She said, "I want an apology from you."
Lillian could not believe it. She exclaimed, "You want me to apologize?"
She shouted at Gloria in a sharp voice, "You want me to apologize to you?"
She sounded like an apology to Gloria was a shameful and absurd thing.
"Tell me, how much money do you want?" Lillian asked with a disdainful smile.
Gloria shook her head while lying on the bed. Her voice was slow but firm, "An apology is all I need."
"What?" Lillian glared at Gloria, who was lying on the bed. Her eyes were filled with anger, and she said furiously, "Are you going to tell everyone about this accident if I don't apologize?"
Gloria fell silent again. If a person has made a mistake, why should he or she not apologize?
