Gloria looked at Lillian in silence, while Lillian was indifferent to her line of sight.
Lillian continued, "I left my stuff in the dormitory that day, so I came back to grab it. That's how I found you unconscious on the floor. Then I took you to the hospital at once. I don't dare to imagine what would have happened if I hadn't come back that day."
Gloria frowned. Was Lillian talking to her?
It didn't sound like that. She felt that Lillian wanted someone else to hear.
So, who could it be?
Gloria was not stupid. She subconsciously turned around to look behind her.
Just as she turned around, she felt a pair of hands on her waist, and she was lifted in the air.
Someone helped her, breaking her free from Lillian's grip. Her back was leaning against a warm body.
A melodious male voice came from behind Gloria. "Gloria, I think you owe your thanks to Miss Santos."
The voice belonged to Derrick, the man Gloria had met twice in the corridor.
Derrick had a very unique voice.
His voice was low, magnetic, and therefore unforgettable.
Gloria recognized Derrick's voice. She turned to him and said, "Hello, Mr. Fisher."
She greeted him politely while trying to break free from him.
Yet she failed.
Gloria was a bit irritated. What Derrick was doing would make things worse between her and Lillian.
"Hello, Mr. Fisher," Lillian hurriedly greeted Derrick as well as she looked at him.
Lillian's eyes flashed with jealousy as she looked at Gloria's waist, where Derrick's hands were placed.
She thought, 'Why Gloria? What is it about her that attracts Derrick?'
Since Lillian greeted Derrick already, it would be rude for Derrick not to greet her back. He nodded and said, "Miss Santos."
Lillian's heart skipped a beat. The smile on Derrick's lips was mesmerizing.
Derrick stood behind Gloria. Gloria fell, and the hair on her forehead was now a little disheveled.
Derrick saw it, and his gaze froze for a moment. The next second, he raised his eyes and looked at Lillian. He was still smiling as he said, "Miss Santos, you said that Gloria was sick and hospitalized a while ago?"
Derrick's temperament was too deadly attractive for girls. What was more, he was deliberately emitting male hormones right now. On no ground could Lillian resist his charm.
Lillian felt that her heart was beating violently. She blushed uncontrollably. However, she was still upset that Derrick asked about Gloria.
She glanced at Gloria and said, "Yes. It was raining that night. Gloria got caught in the rain and had a fever. At least it was my guess. When she tried to get up, she lost her balance and fell on the handle of the door. I was worried sick when I took her to the hospital."
Gloria thought, 'You liar.
I don't get it. Aren't you afraid I'll expose your lies to your face?
How could you distort the fact? How did you manage to lie for granted?
Do you think I'm that easy to bully?'
To Gloria's surprise, Derrick turned around and asked her, "Is that so, Gloria?"
Both Gloria and Lillian were caught off guard.
Instantly, Lillian froze. She was so nervous that all the hair on her body stood on end.
"Gloria, is she telling the truth?"
Yes or no. It was either this or that.
All Gloria needed to do was open her mouth.
Gloria could see the panic and nervousness in Lillian's eyes.
Then Gloria slowly raised her head and looked at Derrick. She smiled and said, "Of course."
The back of Lillian's shirt was drenched in sweat. She felt like she had just got off a roller coaster. She never wanted to experience the same feeling ever again.
Lillian glanced at Gloria with a complicated expression. Gloria had put her under invisible pressure and had utterly humiliated her.
Lillian had not realized that she looked down on Gloria completely. As Gloria did something beyond her expectations, her insides were becoming more and more twisted.
She was saved by Gloria, whom she despised.
This would only make her angrier. She wouldn't be grateful to Gloria at all.
"If it's all right for you, Mr. Fisher, I should go now." Gloria wanted nothing to do with Derrick, the playboy.
For one thing, Lillian was also present. For another, Gloria had nothing left besides her hollow shell.
Gloria turned and left. Derrick watched her figure disappear, and then he looked at Lillian. A sneer flashed across his eyes.
He didn't believe a word from Lillian, who was standing in front of him.
"Are you busy later?" Derrick asked.
Lillian was flattered. She thought, 'Is he expressing his concerns about me?'
"Not today, Mr. Fisher," Lillian replied.
Even if she was, she would clear her schedule.
Lillian clenched her fists nervously. She thought, 'Does Derrick want me to serve him? Well, that's perfectly fine, because he is Derrick.'
She looked at Derrick with anticipation. Yet the greed and expectations on her face sickened Derrick. In his eyes, she became even uglier and most disgusted.
Derrick said meaningfully, "I'm glad to hear that."
After he finished speaking, he passed by Lillian with his hands in his pocket and left calmly.
Lillian was left confused.
She thought, 'He asked me whether I would be busy today, and then he left?
What does that mean?'
Lillian felt upset and was both confused and curious. She could only distract herself by immersing herself in work. However, she kept going absent-minded when she worked during the day.
After Lillian finished her work, she sat alone in the waitress' lounge to rest. Suddenly, someone called her.
"Lillian, a guest has designated you to deliver wine to Room 3 on the third floor."
The manager of the Service Department handed Lillian the bottle and said, "Go for it, girl."
Lillian was overjoyed. She quickly nodded and left hastily with the bottle.
Meanwhile, Derrick was in Room 3 on the third floor.
He smiled and raised his glass. Looking at a middle-aged man on the sofa, he said, "Mr. Terry, it'll be my treat today. Enjoy."
Then Derrick finished the glass of wine in one gulp. He put down the glass and said, "I have some matters to deal with. You know, my father, the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack, is still waiting for me at home. Mr. Terry, make yourselves at home."
He then added, "Mr. Terry, did you see that door?"
