Jason's POV
'So Nick and his bitch have been hiding her; I can't say I'm surprised he did go missing shortly after what we did to Alpha William, and he always took his position seriously.'
Blake was right; I should have known they had her. We spotted Angel at the waterfall shortly after meeting with Wayne and the other trackers. The Alpha of the Moonlight Pack had called her mate just before he shifted and ran off, which caused my blood to boil. This threatened everything I had planned, as we would now have to push things forwards. It meant I had to get to her before he could claim her; that wouldn't be easy. Wolves were possessive creatures, but alphas were at least ten times worse. I needed to know where Angel, Nick and Marie were living. It couldn't have been in the pack house otherwise, he would have already claimed her.
'I could have sworn her birthday wasn't for another two days.'
'That's because it's not.'
'Then how did the young alpha know she was his mate?'
'I don't know, Blake, it could be because of the power in her blood. Don't forget she's a descendant of the moon goddess.'
'I know she is, but that power would be weakened as the generations went on.'
He had a point the more generations born to the bloodline, the weaker the connection to the moon goddesses' power would be. The only thing we could put it to was that she had pure alpha blood running in her veins. Either way, it didn't matter it just meant we had less time than we originally thought.
I had ordered Wayne to keep his scent concealed and accompany me to this waterfall tomorrow. I wanted to get there early enough to scope the area, letting me find the best place to wait and watch for the little Princess to arrive and then follow home.
'If we do this right, then we shouldn't have any surprises.'
Blake was confident in the plan; I tried to be as optimistic as he, but so many things could go wrong if we slipped up. The alpha could find us, and I could only win if I came prepared. I was prepared to do what I had done twice before. It was a dirty way to fight, but my wolf would not stand a chance like with William. On the other hand, Angel could spot me, she would inform Nick and Marie, and they would run. Fleeing before I could get what I wanted, and I may not find them again. I couldn't risk it.
Returning to camp Blake could sense that other wolfs had been there. One scent stuck out in particular; it was that of Alpha Jake. Immediately I mind-linked the pack members present, warning them we had been found and to refrain from speaking a word of what we were planning out loud. If I had found out that one of these mutts jeopardised my plan, I would end their life without a second thought. Now we needed to find a new place to camp, one slightly further out; at least then they would think we had left.
Angels POV
After what happened at the waterfall, Star and I agreed to tell Uncle Nick and Aunt Marie. I owed them that much after sacrificing their identities to keep me safe.
"How can you be sure your mates you're not eighteen yet, Angel? It can't be possible."
"I know that, Aunt Marie, but I felt the sparks you told me about on my cheek as he touched my hair, and I'm sure I heard him call me 'mate'!" I raised my voice as I spoke, here I was telling them something important, and they questioned me as if I were lying.
"Are you sure they were sparks and not just a flutter because you like him and want him to be your mate? I mean, you still have three days before..."
"Marie..." Uncle Nick looked at me, then at Aunt Marie and just gave her a look. A look that said they were hiding something, something he wanted to say out loud finally.
"Look, kid; there's something about your mum... and you that we haven't told you."
Aunt Marie just looked at me and then sighed while holding her head. "Angel, we love you and only kept it secret to protect you. Please remember that other than your father, your mother only entrusted this to Nick, and that was only because he was tasked with protecting her and you. That's the role of the Gamma."
"Guys, I know how pack ranking works. Will you please spill?"
"When you were younger, we told you about the moon goddess and how your mum was a descendent of hers..." Aunt Marie paused and looked at me as if she didn't know how to say whatever it was. Clearly, this secret they were about to tell me had eaten them up over the years. "Well, she's more than that."
"What do you mean more than that? Please stop being cryptic and tell me!"
"She was the daughter of the moon goddess."
"We are all children of hers; she created all werewolves. You're making no sense."
Uncle Nick walked over and cuddled me, I wanted to cuddle him back to feel the warmth and security that my guardian offered, but I was too annoyed. "Angel, the moon goddess, actually gave birth to your mum. You are her granddaughter."
Marie's POV
To say Angel was upset was an understatement. She kicked off when Nick told her the truth about her mother's heritage. We couldn't blame her; we should have trusted her with the truth long ago. Especially now that she is so close to being able to go home. Angel was full of questions; though we had answers to some, we couldn't answer all of them. I wished we could. After a couple of hours of talking, she excused herself to her room. We knew that right now, she needed to be alone. She had trusted us, and we had lied to her no matter how you looked at it.
With the evening quickly approaching, I prepared one of Angel's favourite meals hoping she would see it as a truce. The last thing we wanted to do was to fall out with her. As Nick and I learned the hard way, no-ones tomorrow was guaranteed.
"Angel, sweetheart, it's time for dinner." I waited a few minutes and knocked again, but after not getting a response, I tapped into Violet's hearing. "Nick, I think Angel has gone."
Within minutes Nick was by my side and kicked the door off its hinges. I was right; Angel was gone.
