Jakes POV
"Please tell me you're not going to go through with it? Are you even listening to how fucking crazy you sound right now? Nick, please, even you know how fucked up that sounds." How was this even an option for them?
"Jake, calm down, mate; they haven't said what they will do yet. I th..." I cut Benson off before he could finish. Angel wasn't his mate, so his thoughts were irrelevant.
"Calm down! Do you want me to calm down? Sure, I'll calm down as soon as you morons come to your fucking senses. Seriously, William, you have tried to contact Selena for days without success. Then out of nowhere, she calls on you, making you collapse, cutting your fucking head open in the process and then tells you the witches can draw from you and my mate while she's in some fucking coma. Please tell me where the sense is in that. Henrik said the spell is risky as it is and that she needs to be strong enough to wake up once it's done; drawing from her will only weaken her! If I'm wrong, tell me because this is the most fucked up thing I have heard in a long time!" I lost my temper and just roared at them.
"Ok, you need to calm down. You're shouting your mouth off in a hospital of all bloody places. Jake, listen to me." Marie took my hands and made me face her. "All William has done is tell you what he's been told by the Moon Goddess...."
"Marie, you don't...."
"Jake, do not interrupt when I'm talking to you. It isn't polite, and I'm sure your parents raised you better than that. As I was saying, William hasn't said he will do what has been suggested. He's only informing you as Angels mate what has been said. I understand why you're pissed off; believe me, I really do. I raised that girl for sixteen years, making her into the kind, compassionate young lady she has become, and the thought of her not coming back scares me. Ask anyone that has ever known me. I don't scare easily. The last time I was this scared was when her mother, my 'best friend' entrusted me with her daughter just before she died. I don't want to fail Vanessa. And I know that William doesn't want to either. At the end of the day, Angel is his daughter and whether you, me or Nick like it, the truth is he gets to make the final decision." Marie just looked at William, hoping he would choose correctly.
Marie was right; I wouldn't say I liked it one bit, but what choice did I have? I looked at all the faces in the room. They were all staring at me. Turning around, I stormed out, slamming the door shut behind me. I must have looked like a stroppy kid, but I couldn't give a fuck. Angel was my future, and if something were to go wrong, I'd never forgive myself for not trying everything I could.
'William needs to let Henrik draw from them.' Hunter's voice was calm as it rang out in my mind.
'What the fuck Hunter? You can't be serious. You heard Henrik. She needs to be strong. You should be on my side!' I scowled at him.
'I don't know how, but I know she will be ok. I can feel it. I can't explain, but the Goddess is right. I know she is.'
Ignoring Hunter, I went to my alphas suite and locked the door. I walked to the lounge section and sat down on one of the black leather stools at my bar. Picking up my crystal decanter and glass, I poured myself a drink. America Eagle Tennessee Bourbon is the only drink that took the edge off. As notes of toasted oak, vanilla, fudge, bittersweet orange and spicy white pepper touched my tastebuds, I calmed down. Why should I care that it's only 11 o'clock? Not caring certainly seems to be the theme today.
After completely relaxing, I stood up and walked into the bedroom. I just wanted to be near Angel in case everything went to shit, and she didn't wake up. Sitting at the edge of my bed once again was Selena.
"Good afternoon Jake. I think you know why I'm here. What I told William is true. Drawing from him and Angel will be enough to wake her. She is less likely to experience the side effects if done this way. You know I'm invested in your futures together, so why do you think this is wrong?"
"You ignored William for days, and then suddenly, you have a resolution. Seems a bit off to me." I kept my voice stern as I spoke.
"I didn't respond as I didn't have an answer to give. I can not solve all problems, Jake. I wish I could, but I can not constantly intervene. I have had to make a deal to get this information. So, it would be best if you let this happen. Jason knows that the Geminis cast spells during a full moon and, in doing so, would likely attack. They may be more powerful at this time, but whilst casting such a spell, they won't be able to defend themselves and wake Angel. She will be lost if that happens. He will not expect you to have it performed during daylight. Do the right thing if not for yourself and your pack, do it for her." I watched as she gently caressed Angel's face. Seeing them side by side made me realise just how alike they looked.
Before I could ask her more about the deal she made, she faded from sight. I walked into the bathroom, letting the cold water run into the sink. I stared at myself in the mirror, not knowing what to do or think. I splashed the cold water over my face and returned to my office. I mind-linked Benson and told him to bring Henrik to my office. As they arrived and sat down, I asked Henrik if what Selena said was possible. He said it was and was surprised he hadn't thought about it himself. Benson asked him how long they would need before they were ready, to which Henrik said they would need two hours. Two hours of preparing and getting ready, I would finally have my sleeping beauty back.
Henrik's POV
I told Jake we needed two hours, but truthfully we could have cast the spell there and then. I headed back to the guest quarters, where the members of my coven were waiting. I had only bought five members with me, leaving the remainder of the coven back home. When William originally found us, I told him the price for our help would be the power within his blood, but as we arrived at the Moonlight Pack, Sadie had one of her visions. Her visions were always changing and were based on the decisions we made. This one, however, was different. This one, she said, would be set in stone if William paid up.
This particular vision showed the death of my coven, every one of us. It showed us being under attack after helping wake Angel. William and the rest of the pack fought to protect us and their own but failed in the process. Sadie said that if William retained his powers, he and Angel together would save the day without casualties. I felt bad that the wolves would still be affected, but we had to look out for our own.
Gathering the quartz stone, the grimoire and our covens symbolised cross, we placed them in the centre of the room, creating a circle around them as we joined hands. We each closed our eyes and chanted a blessing over the items. Once completed, I put the items in the bag and made our way to the alphas suite. Before the afternoon was out, we would have woken the Princess, ensuring the survival of my coven.
