Jason's POV
After completing the mating process with Crystal, we headed into the centre of Belle Chasse. I had been mind linked by one of my trackers informing me that Angel had gone into a magic-induced coma and that her mate had sought out the all-powerful Gemini coven for their help. I knew quite a lot about the Gemini. Whilst looking for the lost Princess, I had enlisted the help of several witches in the hopes that one of them knew a way to grant me the power without her being present. The Gemini name popped up a few times. Their strength as a coven was at its highest during the month's second full moon. The only thing that deterred me from them was that their magic always came at an exceptionally higher-than-usual price. One I was never willing to pay.
If the young Alpha Jake and William had hired the Geminis, then that would mean their spell would be cast tonight during the full moon. This would be the perfect time to attack. Using their strength to cast whatever spell they plan to use would leave them weak. They would never be able to protect themselves and do what they were hired for. One of my trackers contacted the rogues I had once worked with and told them of William's survival. To say they were delighted was a bit strange. They wanted their shot at him this time, a chance for revenge.
"Babe, how do you plan on getting remotely close to this, William? If he's as strong as you say, I'm worried you're setting yourself up to fail. If you couldn't kill him before when you murdered his Luna, and not to mention the fact you also poisoned him, then what on earth gives you the impression this time will be any different?" Crystal stood in the doorway, criticising me with her hands on her hips.
'God, she's sexy when she looks at us like that.' Blake purred like a bloody puppy.
'Focus, wolf. Exercise plan first and exercise Crystal later.' I reprimanded him, though when your mate looked like that, who could blame him? The way her dark hair hung while framing her face made her look like a delicate doll, though I knew there was nothing delicate about her.
"It's simple, love; you are going to cause a distraction allowing us the time needed to get in there." I smiled at her.
"How the hell am I supposed to do something like that? After what you've told me you did to that slut of Jake's, he will be expecting you. I'm guessing he even made a mental note of your scent. He will sniff you out a mile away, especially if you turn up with those mangey rogues."
"Believe me; you will find a way if you want me to come out of this alive." I chuckled at her.
"Uhh, I hate this. Why can't we make our own deal with the coven of witches? Something more appealing than whatever they have offered them."
"No. That's out of the question. Their price is too much. I refuse to pay what they ask for." My words were blunt in the hopes she would leave the subject alone.
"Well, how do you know their price is too high if you don't bother to find out."
"Because.... I asked them to help me gain the alpha power before. A couple of years before, one of my wolves found Angel. They asked for my first-born pup." I told her while grimacing at the memory.
"Wow, I did not expect you to say that. How would they even know if you had a pup? Surely they wouldn't stick around waiting for you to knock someone up."
"One of their witches obtains the power of premonition. She would see. Her visions show the outcome of someone's choice. She would cast a link between myself and her, meaning she would tell when a pup had been conceived. If I am destined to have a pup, I want it to be the ruler after me. So that is why I will not seek them out for help." I got up and walked away. This conversation put me in a foul mood, and I wanted to be alone.
Bensons POV
"Alice, please just do what I've asked. I'm not asking for the world; I'm just asking you to stay in the bunker with the other women and pups. It's for your own good."
"No, Benson, I won't; I have never hidden when we have been attacked, so why the hell should I now? All Jake said is that Jason may attack us, not that he will. Besides, when Angel wakes up, she will be scared shitless. She will open her eyes and see a room full of people she has never met before. She's going to need me."
"Babe, she doesn't know you either."
"My face no, but one of the witches said she could still hear our voices. Ever since Jake bought her here, I've been going in there, keeping her company and making sure she's always comfortable. If she wakes and hears my voice, then at least something familiar will present."
"Nick and Marie will be there, Alice, and so will Jake. Them alone will be enough to calm her. I'm sorry, but Jake has made it clear he doesn't want anyone other than them and the witches in the room. He's even told William not to enter."
"What the hell? He's her dad. He should be in there."
"He may be her dad, but Angel doesn't know him. She hasn't seen him since she was two. William, myself and a couple of the guards will be outside the room. To ensure they aren't disturbed." Seeing the disappointment on her face, I pulled Alice into a hug.
It didn't take long for our embrace to calm Alice down. I could feel her relax as she finally accepted that she couldn't be involved. I had assured her that Jake would introduce her to Angel as soon as she was ready. The poor girl has only just turned eighteen, and she's already had her life turned upside down. Jake mind linked me, telling me it was finally time. I headed to the guest quarters where Henrik and his coven were staying. Just as I was about to turn the corner, I heard what sounded like a hushed argument. Tapping into Rocky's enhanced hearing, I could make out Henrik arguing with a woman. I didn't recognise her voice, but then we hadn't met the other witches that came with him.
"You have to tell them. It's not fair that they protect us only for them to lose someone close to them like that later on." The woman's voice was laced with concern.
"Will you stop? We need to think of our coven. If we tell them that Jason's attack will lead to the death of one of their own, then we will perish. Do you know what that means?" Henrik replied.
"I don't care. Witches are supposed to keep the balance. I get my visions for a reason, and if this one vision can save a life by changing the path this person is on, then so be it." The woman told Henrik.
I walked around the corner, demanding to know what was going on. There was no point in using my beta voice as they aren't wolves, so it wouldn't affect them. The woman went to talk, but Henrik silenced her before she had a chance. Knowing it was time to cast the spell I escorted them to Jake's suite. I mind-linked Jake, letting him know what I had overheard; after his chat with the moon goddess, he expected an attack, but he didn't know that one of our own was going to fall as a result somewhere down the road. Jake just nodded at me, letting me know he would deal with it and shut the door locking it from the inside. All we could do now was wait and pray that the coven could finish their spell before Jason arrived.
