Twenty-five years ago...
My father pushes me to marry Arthur, the King of the werewolf world. I am already twenty-five and haven't found my mate yet. We are in the line of Beta, but since my dad doesn't have a son, and the Beta title will be outside of our bloodline, he and the King arrange my marriage. They arranged for me and Arthur to become mates.
I want to disagree, but my father did everything just to push me at that wedding.
I was having my visit to the nearest pack to send the invitation card for our wedding.
As soon as I stepped foot on the ground, I smelled this wonderful scent. The river scent with a combination of fresh orchids. My favorite.
A man steps out of the packhouse and looks surprised at my appearance. We looked at each other. A lot of words want to come out but I can't utter any words. He knows who I am and he knows why I came to see his pack.
"The future Queen has arrived." A man standing by his side said.
"My Queen, my name is Markus Alurious, the Alpha of this pack. It’s my pleasure to have your presence. Please come in." He said, turning his back to me.
I follow him inside while I'm having an inside battle to grab him and kiss him. He is mine, the one who was made to be with me as long as I live.
We entered his office.
"Please take a seat, my Queen," he said.
"Just Ele, I am not Queen yet," I said.
"As you said, Ele, so what do we have here?" He asks, looking so broken in front of me.
I look into my guards and his Beta and gamma. I feel so awkward talking to him in front of them.
He looks at my action and I think he gets what I mean.
"Can you leave us for a minute?" He ordered everyone, but my bodyguard refused his command.
"Just leave us for a second, I want to talk to Markus for a while," I ordered.
They leave the room and it fills with our silence.
"So, you're getting married?" He asks, breaking the silence.
I sighed and looked him in the eyes. Those beautiful sea-blue eyes that held so much emotion inside keep me looking at it more.
"I-I'm sorry." That's all it takes for me to break down and cry. "My father wanted me to do this, I can't say no to him," I explained.
He stands and kneels in front of me.
"Hey hey hey, don't cry... I don't want to see you like this, Ele, we can do this.. you can tell your dad that you have already found your mate. He will understand." Markus said, holding my hands and kissing them. I can feel the electric spark that comes from his touch and lips.
"I hope he will, he wanted to maintain the life we have in the palace," I said, kissing his hands too.
"He will, I will come with you and explain it to him. You can live here with me and also your family," he said.
I looked at him in the eyes and, like the waves of the ocean, my body responded to the bond and kissed him. I push aside all my thoughts and savor this moment. He kisses me so passionately and hungrily until he stops.
"I don't want to do this here. I want the vows and the blessing of your father," he said.
I smiled at him. I am lucky to have a guy like him in my life. The Moon Goddess paired me with the most amazing man in the world.
As he promised, he came with me to the palace and talked to my father. We searched for my father until we saw him at the back of the castle.
"Father!" I shouted.
He turns around and hugs me while looking at Markus, who is now standing by my side.
"Who is this guy, Eleonora?" Father asked.
"Dad, this is Alpha Markus of Alurious pack and he..... he is my mate," I said.
My father turned red when he heard me. For sure, he understands now what I wanted to say to him.
"Your mate?" He looked at Markus from head to toe and back to Markus's face. "So, he knows that you are already engaged?" he said.
"Yes Dad, and he is here to tell you that he will take me with him and cancel the engagement," I said.
My Dad's reaction was nerve-wracking. He pulls me from Markus's hand and drags me away.
"Lindo what are you doing?" Markus asked while trying to get to me.
"What am I doing? I am doing what is right. She's getting married this blue moon and you wanted her to cancel the wedding because out of nowhere she found you?! Oh, that is bull shit!" Father said, putting me behind him.
"But I am her mate and we're supposed to live together. The Moon Goddess paired me with your daughter and she is mine." Markus said. I saw his eyes glow gold. That meant his wolf wanted to take over.
"You are no good to my daughter. The king is far better than you, an Alpha of a small pack? You're f*cking kidding me kid! I will not let my daughter destroy this arrangement," Lindo said.
"She's mine and you need to kill me first before you take her away from me," Markus said.
"In that case, I am willing to kill you." After my father said it, the fighters of the kingdom circled him.
"Dad No!" I shouted before one of the guards held me.
My father shifted into his wolf as well as the others and Markus. His wolf looks at me before he fights for me.
I saw with my own eyes how they held him, biting his four legs and letting him fall to the ground. I saw my father slowly walk to Markus, looking into his prey and showing all his teeth to me.
"Father please.... don't do this...." I begged him but he didn't stop. He bit Markus in his neck. Everything seemed to stop. The pain of hearing his slow heartbeat. The pain of seeing him losing his life makes my heart stop too. I turned around, I couldn't do this... I can't watch him die...
And I did the worst thing a mate can do to his other half while dying...
