The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Cassian’s Triumph

Ch. 406 / 790 May 05, 2026

The battlefield was a maelstrom of blood and fury. Werewolves clashed with vampires in a brutal display of primal power and dark magic. Cassian led the charge, his claws slicing through the air with deadly precision. Each movement was calculated, his scarred frame a blur of lethal efficiency as he tore through the undead ranks.

Ahead of him, Kaelis, the Blade Dancer, stood amidst the chaos, his twin swords shimmering under the pale moonlight. He moved with an almost hypnotic grace, cutting down werewolves with swift, clean strikes. His crimson eyes gleamed as he spotted Cassian advancing.

“Well, well,” Kaelis sneered, his voice carrying above the din. “The upstart Alpha graces us with his presence. Tell me, wolf, how does it feel to play king in a broken kingdom?”

Cassian’s growl rumbled low in his throat, his amber eyes blazing with fury. “Keep talking. Let’s see how long you can run that mouth before I shut it for good.”

Kaelis responded with a mocking bow, his swords twirling as he launched forward. Their clash was thunderous, claws meeting steel in a dazzling display of ferocity and skill. Cassian’s movements were raw and powerful, while Kaelis danced around him with precise, taunting strikes.

Kaelis’s blade nicked Cassian’s shoulder, drawing a thin line of blood. “You’ll have to do better than that,” the vampire mocked, his grin infuriatingly calm.

Cassian bared his teeth, his muscles coiling as he feinted left and then lunged right, his claws raking across Kaelis’s chest. The vampire hissed, stumbling back as dark blood seeped through his armor.

The battle intensified, their strikes creating a whirlwind of destruction. Kaelis’s swords sang through the air, but Cassian’s relentless strength began to overwhelm him. With a feral roar, Cassian seized an opening, his claws tearing into Kaelis’s chest. The Blade Dancer’s eyes widened in shock as Cassian’s next strike severed his head in a single, brutal motion.

For a moment, the battlefield froze. The vampires faltered, their morale shattered by the death of one of their strongest.

On a ridge overlooking the chaos, the Vampire King watched impassively, his crimson eyes glinting with cruel amusement. He turned his gaze to Adrian, who stood amidst the werewolf forces, his blade slick with blood.

“You’ve chosen poorly, boy,” the King called out, his voice carrying a chilling authority. “When this is over, I’ll make sure you watch as I rip her apart. Piece by piece.”

Adrian’s grip on his sword tightened, his body trembling with fury. But before he could respond, the King’s forces retreated into the shadows, their movements swift and precise.

The stronghold was a hive of activity as the werewolves regrouped. Isla and Draven worked tirelessly to rally the warriors, tending to the wounded and fortifying the defenses. Fires crackled in the distance, their light casting long shadows over the blood-soaked ground.

Cassian strode into the central hall, his knuckles still stained with Kaelis’s blood. His expression was unreadable, his amber eyes flicking over the gathered wolves with a practiced detachment.

Lyra approached him hesitantly, her silver eyes filled with uncertainty. “You... you protected me out there,” she said softly, her voice breaking the heavy silence.

Cassian shrugged, his tone gruff. “That bastard got what he deserved.”

Adrian lingered nearby, his jaw clenched as he observed the interaction. His crimson eyes burned with restrained emotion, though he kept his distance. Lyra caught his gaze for a fleeting moment, the unspoken tension between them almost suffocating.

Isla stepped forward, her voice cutting through the charged atmosphere. “We can’t rest yet. The King’s forces will come back, and they’ll be stronger. We need to act quickly.”

Draven nodded, his expression grim. “The pack needs stability. We’ve delayed the Luna Ceremony long enough. Cassian, Lyra—it’s time to solidify the bond.”

Lyra’s heart sank, her chest tightening as all eyes turned to her. Cassian’s gaze lingered on her for a moment before he gave a curt nod.

“Let’s get it over with,” he said, his voice devoid of emotion.

Lyra glanced at him, searching for any sign of vulnerability in his hardened demeanor, but his expression remained steely.

As the wolves began preparations, Lyra pulled Isla aside. “Is this really the only way?” she asked, her voice trembling.

Isla placed a comforting hand on her daughter’s shoulder. “It’s not just about you, Lyra. The pack needs strength, and this bond will protect all of us.”
