The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Lyra’s Plea

Ch. 435 / 790 May 05, 2026

The air was thick with tension, the flickering torchlight casting shadows on the cold stone walls. Lyra knelt beside Eryon, her trembling hands clasping his motionless one. His skin was clammy, the once-vibrant glow of his amber eyes dulled to near lifelessness. Her breath came in shallow gasps, her desperation filling the room like a storm ready to break.

“Stop this!” Lyra’s voice rang out, sharp and cracking, breaking the eerie silence. She turned toward Misery, her silver eyes blazing with emotion. “He’s my brother. I won’t let you turn him into something he’s not.”

Misery stood a few feet away, her arms crossed tightly, her crimson eyes filled with equal parts determination and sorrow. “And what would you have me do, Lyra?” she snapped, though her voice wavered slightly. “Watch him die? Because that’s what you’re asking me to do.”

Lyra’s lip quivered as she shook her head violently. “No! That’s not what I want. But turning him into... into one of you—it’s not the answer!”

Misery stepped forward, her boots clicking softly against the stone floor. “If you have another way to save him, tell me now,” she said, her voice low but resolute. “Because if you don’t, I won’t just stand by and let him slip away.”

Lyra fell to her knees beside Eryon, clutching his limp hand in hers. “Eryon,” she whispered, her voice trembling as fresh tears spilled down her cheeks. “Please, fight this. Don’t let us lose you. I need you.”

She leaned closer, her forehead pressing against his hand. “You’re my twin,” she said, her voice breaking. “My other half. We’ve been through everything together. You can’t leave me now.”

Her sobs echoed softly through the chamber, her anguish filling the space like a heavy fog. Misery’s stoic expression cracked, a glimmer of guilt flashing in her crimson eyes. “Lyra,” she began softly, taking a hesitant step closer, “if we do nothing, he’s going to die.”

Lyra raised her head, her tear-streaked face filled with defiance. “There has to be another way.”

But the room offered no answers, the sound of Eryon’s shallow breathing the only reply. Misery’s shoulders sagged, her resolve faltering as she turned to glance at Seraphine, who stood silently in the corner, her silver eyes watching the scene with an unreadable expression.

“You have until sunrise,” Seraphine said finally, her tone cold and detached. “After that, the decision will be made for you.”

The heavy doors to the chamber slammed open with a resounding crash, making everyone flinch. Draven strode in, his presence a maelstrom of barely contained fury. His amber eyes burned as they locked onto Seraphine, who stood unflinching near Eryon’s bedside.

“You think you have the right to make this decision?” Draven growled, his voice low and dangerous. His massive frame towered over the vampire, his fists clenched tightly at his sides.

Seraphine met his gaze with icy calm, her silver eyes narrowing slightly. “And you think doing nothing is better?” she retorted, her tone sharp. “Your son is dying, Draven. Or are you too blinded by pride to see that?”

Draven took a step closer, his boots echoing ominously against the stone floor. “You don’t care about saving him,” he spat. “You care about controlling him. You want him as your weapon.”

Seraphine tilted her head slightly, her expression unbothered. “And what do you care? Isn’t it better for him to be alive and useful than dead and forgotten?”

Draven’s snarl was visceral, his wolf instincts bristling as he advanced on her. “You don’t get to decide what’s best for my son.”

“Enough!” Isla’s voice rang out, cutting through the rising tension. She stepped between them, her hands raised. Her silver hair glinted in the dim light as she faced them both, her gaze fierce. “This isn’t helping Eryon.”

Draven’s chest heaved with barely restrained anger, but he didn’t step back. Instead, he jabbed a finger toward Misery, who stood silent but resolute beside Eryon. “And you,” he growled, his voice dripping with accusation. “You’re no better. This is your doing.”

Misery’s crimson eyes flashed with anger. “You think I want this? You think I’m happy watching him suffer? I love him!” Her voice cracked, her vulnerability laid bare. “I’m doing what I have to, because none of you will.”

Draven’s fists clenched tighter, his gaze hardening. “If you go through with this,” he said, his voice low and menacing, “you’ll regret it. You and your little vampire schemes.”

Misery stepped forward, her eyes blazing. “Say what you want about me, but at least I’m fighting for him. What are you doing? Growling and snarling like a rabid dog?”

Draven lunged, his movements swift and powerful, but Isla intercepted him, placing a firm hand on his chest. “Stop it, Draven,” she said firmly, her voice a mix of exhaustion and authority. “We don’t have time for this.”

The room fell into a tense silence, the weight of the moment pressing down on everyone. Eryon’s faint, labored breaths filled the void, a haunting reminder of their dwindling time. Misery turned back to him, her hands trembling as she reached for his, her voice breaking. “I won’t let you die, Eryon. I won’t.”

In the corner, Seraphine’s cold gaze flickered with a hint of satisfaction. “It seems,” she murmured, her voice barely audible, “that desperation makes for strange alliances.”
