CHAPTER 61 - JULIAN HYACINTH ESCAPEDEzekiel was about to change into more relaxed clothes when suddenly he heard a wolf howl.
AWOOOOOOOO!
The hairs on his neck stood as soon as he looked at the garden from his window. Dozens of wolves were running towards the outside of the castle from all directions.
What was going on all of a sudden? Those monstrous abominations preparing for war or what?
Ezekiel took out his longsword. He ran to the front door of the castle and saw Heath and the Old Duke standing at the door. In front of the two people, there was a red wolf that was slightly larger in size than the other wolves.
"What happened?" asked Ezekiel in surprise. He looked everywhere and couldn't find Harriet. He was surprised because usually, she would be on the front line when something bad happened.
"Prince Julian Hyacinth escaped from custody, Your Highness," Heath said dryly.
"What?!" Ezekiel was surprised, and then looked around. There had already gathered hundreds of Lycans in their wolf forms, and all of them were on standby in front of the castle, awaiting orders.
"Some of the Lycan groups are already after him along with Sir Russell, and we plan to use all our strength to ensure he cannot run away or hurt anyone," said the Old Duke.
At that very moment, Crown Prince Hyacinth and his aides appeared. They had already heard what had happened and approached the Old Duke and Heath.
"We will help. My brother is a mage, just like me. I'll make sure to help you catch him," Heinrich said.
"Thank you, Your Highness. Please follow us if you can," Heath said, taking off his top and jumping forward. Smoothly, the young man turned into a giant wolf with grey fur and black mane running down its back and tail. This time, his wolf form really looked perfect.
Ezekiel gasped. The knight he knew quite well and the younger brother of Harriet Goldlane, Heath Goldlane, had completely turned into a monster.
GRRRRRRR…
The giant wolf growled for a moment and ran from the castle leading hundreds of other wolves followed by the red wolf. The Old Duke still stood where he was watching Heath lead not only Amaryllis Lycans but Almandine Lycans as well.
It might seem like an exaggeration to take out hundreds of Lycan troops in pursuit of a single mage. But they must not forget that the said mage, Prince Julian Hyacinth was the one who could kill an experienced adult Alpha, the former Alpha from the Amaryllis family.
The Old Duke explained this to the two crown princes in an even voice, then climbed onto his stallion, which finally came, pulled by a servant.
The two crown princes saw several other horses following, and the Old Duke invited them to use them. They and their guards rode after.
The sound of a wolf's howl could be heard echoing in the air from a distance. The Old Duke led the cavalry towards the voice as if he understood what the howl meant. Not only the sound of wolves, but the sound of bells also sounded from the direction of the city, indicating an emergency situation was occurring.
From where they were, which was a plateau that was higher than the city, the envoys from the West Continent and Ezekiel could see that the light of the city was rapidly extinguishing.
They also saw another group of Lycans strolling through the city streets with their fur shining in the moonlight, combing every nook and cranny.
The Old Duke didn't look back and continued to lead them up the hilly area to the south of the castle until they heard the wolf howl again.
The Old Duke suddenly raised his hand to signal the entourage following him to stop. The old man looked wary.
Silence, and…
BLARR!
Explosions accompanied by a fire tornado were created above the hill. Seeing that, it was the Old Duke who reacted the fastest by jumping off his horse and instantly turning into a giant wolf with so many scars.
Everyone looked at the Old Duke's wolf form, which had brownish-black fur. The old man's golden eyes shone in the darkness of the night, and without a word, he shot toward the expanding flames.
Instantly, the howls of dozens of wolves sounded loudly filling the air.
The two crown princes spurred their horses closer as well, seeing the devastation caused by such a terrifying gigantic magic spell circle.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAH!"
Everyone and the Lycans in the place heard the manic laughter of a one-armed man. The man raised a giant spell circle above his head with one hand.
"Die you monsters!" Julian's red eyes shone brightly.
All his life, Julian had only focused on one thing. He wanted to become a very powerful mage who could eradicate the monsters in this world, whether intelligent or not.
For him, everything was the same. Lycan was just a wolf monster who happened to be able to talk and had a human form. That was why he unhesitatingly learned every spell with the greatest destructive power ever since he learned magic.
He didn't care about other magic that could help people or magic that could enhance the technological development of humanity. He wanted to become a Battle Mage to hunt down every monster–to gain recognition, honor, and admiration from the people.
When he brought Amaryllis Alpha's head home, everyone praised him and many people finally supported him to become the next king. But he knew he wouldn't be able to become the next king because his brother was there.
His brother might not be as strong as him, but he was cunning. He was like a fox who could grasp everyone's weaknesses, including Julian's own. Julian also killed Amaryllis' Alpha on the advice of his older brother, Heinrich.
The plan to take Miriam, the daughter of the Alpha, as a hostage, and manipulate all the members of the Amaryllis clan to secretly attack the Euclase Continent was also his brother's plan. But of course, his brother persuaded him with the promise that if he succeeded, he would receive all the credit.
But they got stopped by a knight.
"Heath Goldlane!"
Julian shouted at a giant grey wolf that had black mane on its neck and back. He knew the wolf was the Lycan form of the knight who destroyed everything he had built, cut off his right arm, and forced him to flee alone back to the West Continent.
Back when he was a knight, Julian couldn't beat him–because he was careless and because he had never fought a Knight who mastered
However, this time was different. Since Heath had turned into a Lycan, he could no longer use
Because Julian had killed many Lycans in his life.
Drap drap drap
GRRAAAWRR!
Julian was surprised when suddenly another giant wolf appeared and jumped at him from his blind spot. Julian leaped away with his legs still bound by the broken chain cuffs.
The Lycans, hundreds of them in number walked over from the shadows of the trees, and in the centre of them were Heath and the Old Duke in their giant wolf forms.
Two Alphas from two different Lycan Packs gathered and cornered him.
Julian felt a little confused. He had only fled about three kilometres from the castle, but how did he get caught so quickly? Was it because this was Lycan territory that they quickly alerted and gathered?
