The Alpha's replacement bride

Chapter 82

Ch. 80 / 109 Nov 28, 2025

CHAPTER 82 - LIAM AND HARRIETLiam tried to move his body.

He tightened and loosened his grip on his hand, opening and closing his fingers over and over again.

Since morning he had been trying to find his father's walking cane, but he couldn't find it anywhere. His body ached a lot, especially when he tried to move, so he tried to find a cane to lean on.

Could it be one of the things he had forgotten?

"I found this, Young Lord," Daniel said and handed him a cane. But what he brought him was actually just part of a cane.

With one look, Liam knew it was his father's walking cane. But the handle was missing. The tip was also sharp as if it had been cut by a sharp object. Even the engraving of his father's name was cut in half.

"You didn't tell me anything about this," Daniel said as Liam gave him a questioning look.

Liam furrowed his brows in disgust at himself. He became suspicious after trying to sort out his lost memories. The missing parts were the parts that related to Harriet and they started missing right before he met Harriet.

That was when Liam took a deep breath and tried to cheer himself up again. His arms were shaking and he almost tripped to the floor if Daniel didn't support him.

"Young Lord, should I get you a new cane?" asked Daniel.

Liam shook his head. "Looks like cane won't be of much help now either," said the man.

Daniel supported Liam out of the room, and Liam immediately groaned in annoyance as he saw the spiral staircase descending the tower. His body was all sore, and he still had to go through the stairs.

"Let's just not go down," Liam said quietly.

Daniel laughed blandly.

Liam then asked Daniel to get his research materials which apparently, he kept in the Old Duke's room. Liam knew because he had read his little notebook about all his attempts to find a way to heal.

He was lucky that Harriet had gone off earlier this morning somewhere, perhaps doing some activity which he didn't know and probably forgot all about so that she didn't see this pathetic side of him.

This morning the Old Duke and his two in-laws, Heath and Miriam had come to see him.

As soon as he saw Heath and assessed his body, he immediately knew that the young man was a strong Alpha. Liam felt that perhaps his brother-in-law would grow stronger than the Old Duke one day.

While thinking that, Liam felt a little calmer. If there was an Alpha with a bright future like Heath standing by Harriet's side, then he could die in peace–

Liam blinked and cursed himself. How could such a pessimistic thought enter his head? Hadn't he promised himself to make Harriet happy with his own hands? He, even before losing his memory, was determined to recover. Then how could he even think so pessimistically again now?

Forgetting Harriet was already so scary, he didn't dare think of the day he would have to leave her.

That was when he saw Harriet suddenly appear at the door. Liam turned and blinked at the woman, who appeared with a smile filling her face.

"Milord, there's something I want to show you," said Harriet, approaching.

He wanted to stand up and greet her, hug her, and carry her closer if he could. And without realizing it, his body had already stood up, was already walking towards her with ease, and was hugging her. Harriet was surprised at Liam's sudden movement towards her, and even more, surprised when he hugged her tightly.

Oh, it wasn't just Harriet who was surprised. Liam himself was also surprised.

"Milord? Is your body okay?" Harriet looked at him worriedly.

Liam, who had just realized what he had just done, began to feel the effects of his sudden movement.

Painful.

"Uh-huh… I'm good…" Liam whispered, holding back the pain.

Looks like, when it came to Harriet, Liam would jump right into the fire pit if needed without realizing what he was doing. "How about you, Madam? Is the wound on your leg…"

Harriet smiled and explained, "My wound is completely closed, although there are still scabs, a sign that my wound is still healing.".

Liam nodded, not wanting his injured wife to support him too long, and tried to back away. But then, Liam felt Harriet's arms tightly around his waist. It was as if Harriet was telling him she could hold him firmly, and Liam could trust her by his side.

Seeing that, Liam knew that even if Harriet was badly injured, she wouldn't budge and stubbornly held on to him. He had asked her several times why she had been injured since last night, and Harriet had said it was because she had accidentally fallen on the stairs.

The damn stairs.

He might have to move out from here.

Harriet blinked with her warm lavender eyes. Affection shone clearly in those eyes, making Liam almost heave a sigh of relief and be grateful for his life once again. They only held that position for a split second, but it felt like forever.

"Will Milord come with me?" asked Harriet.

"Of course, I will," Liam opened his mouth subconsciously, even in a relaxed tone, as if the pain was nothing.

Now Liam was starting to understand how he could wake up every morning without a full moon. His body and even his mouth would act as an obedient little dog in Harriet's presence.

Meanwhile, Harriet was blushing red with embarrassment. Even today, Liam was still very sweet to her. It was as if everything the man had done before was nothing compared with Liam now, ever since the man had woken up from his slumber.

"Umm," Harriet looked the other way, unsure of how to put it.

Liam's golden eyes reflecting the midday sun tried to glance at Harriet with a tilted face. Seeing Liam's curious and sweet expression, Harriet blushed even more.

"What? What's wrong?" Liam clearly saw the doubt and embarrassment on Harriet's face.

Harriet blinked twice at Liam and took a deep breath. The woman gulped nervously before saying her invitation.

"D-don't misunderstand me, Milord. First of all, I want to emphasize that this is to help Milord, and at the same time to show Milord the new fashion design prototypes that are very important to me," said Harriet seriously.

Fashion?

Harriet? Fashion?

Liam didn't remember anything. Did Harriet have a fashion business?

"Aah, okay," Liam innocently replied as if he understood everything. But why did Harriet want him to follow her? Couldn't Liam see it here?

But he complied as Harriet helped him down the stairs to his downstairs bathroom. Liam smelled a very strong lavender scent inside. In the water bath, there was hot milky white water with so much lavender residue floating on its surface.

The wide tub was still a little too hot to use, and Harriet helped him start taking off his shirt. Now it was Liam's turn to be stunned as his head froze after suddenly entering this situation.

Aaah. Are they going to take a bath together? Or is it just Liam that is going to soak in there?

Liam's question filled his own head. Even though he was 100% sure he would be able to handle this situation smoothly, he could feel every cell in his body warm up.
