Rhaegar
I had been looking for Nalya since she left, and every day, I became more desperate. Losing her made me realize how much I wanted her. I couldn't eat or sleep properly. When I couldn't find her, I focused my time on training and working in an unhealthy way.
Azura came to my office last evening, telling me where Nalya was. She said she was worried about her, and when I asked her why, she refused to say.
Nate, Kendrick, Ella, and I went to the human town. Surprisingly it was one we didn't look at.
"She works here?" Nate asked.
"That's what Azura said," Ella answered, and we went inside. It was a place she would work at. So calm and beautiful.
Ella called earlier to clear the restaurant, so it was just us, and the staff.
My breath was caught in my chest when I saw her walk out. She didn't change at all. She froze when her eyes locked with mine. Nalya was panicking and wanted to leave, but her boss didn't let her.
"Mate," I heard Nate say. He was breathing heavily. His eyes were stuck on the girl next to Nalya. She was equally pretty.
'Nate, I'm happy you found your mate, but you need to calm down,' I said through the mind link.
'Yes, she's human,' Ella added, a little hurt. She always had a crush on Nate and was disappointed when they weren't mates.
'Congrats, brother,' Kendrick said.
Nathaniel's wolf wanted to go to their mate, but he contained him.
'How the fuck were you able to reject your mate, Rhaegar? All I want to do is run to her and hold her. Keep her safe from everything,' he said, baffled.
'I was an idiot, and I regret it,'
I regretted rejecting my mate so much, and I know it will take time, but I will earn her forgiveness and make everything right. The trio started to approach and caught a whiff of her scent. It changed, not really. It was mixed with something else, but I couldn't detect what. As I pondered, Nate stood up, going close to his mate.
'You're freaking her out,' I warned. He was inhaling her scent.
'For sure, you're getting rejected,' Kendrick laughed.
Nate sat back down. He couldn't contain the grin on his face.
'Now, you look stupid. Stop smiling like that,' Kendrick said, and he stopped. They left their drinks and left, only to come back ten minutes later.
"Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for dining with us. We are here to satisfy your palate with the best and flavorful food," Nate's mate said with a smile.
"Just keep the drinks coming, loves," Kendrick said, and she nodded. The two went to stand somewhere from us.
"So, what's the plan now," Ella sighed, drinking her champagne.
"I fucking don't know. I- I want Nalya back," I confessed. I decided to end my relationship with Juliana and be with my mate.
"And you think she'll take you back after the shit you did?" Kendrick said.
"I regret rejecting her. You guys were right. I was just scared of giving her affection, so I made up every reason to push her away," I told them.
"Why were you so scared?" Ella asked, and I froze. I have tried to forget it for so long. The truth is that my mother threw herself off the cliff when my father died. Nadia and I watched it happen. I couldn't bring myself to tell anyone because it would ruin her reputation. I begged my mother not to, but she was too far gone when she felt my father die. She wasn't strong enough to stay alive, to fight for me or my little brother.
"Enough with the questions, go to your mate, Rhaegar," Nate knew the reason I didn't accept her was because of my parents. However, he respected my privacy and didn't ask me about it. I stood up and followed her. As soon as she left the restrooms, I cornered her. Her heart was pounding in her chest.
The desire to hug her overtook me, and I did, however, she pushed me away from her.
Nalya, I accept you as my mate," I told her. She scoffed.
"You accept me. What do you think this is, Rhaegar? You suddenly decide you want me, and so what? I should jump in excitement because the mate who rejected and insulted me suddenly wants me back?!" she growled. It was the first time I heard her growl.
Nalya was furious at me, and I understood why. I hurt her and I wouldn't expect her to jump into my arms. She walked away from me, and I let out a sigh.
'Baby,' my wolf whispered.
'What?'
'Mate is pregnant with our pup,' he said and stayed frozen in place. Unable to do anything as Nalya walked away.
I went to my friends. Nate was talking to his mate, and surprisingly, she was blushing and smiling.
'Nalya is pregnant,' I told them through the group link.
'WHAT!' They exclaimed. Nate left his mate and came to us.
"How?"
"Isn't it obvious, he fucked her... Twice," Kendrick said, and I glared at him.
"I was wondering why her scent changed... Oh my, Rhaegar, she's carrying your future heir and is unprotected," Ella was excited and nervous. I didn't know how to feel about this news. Did Nalya know she was pregnant?
"She needs to go back to the pack house. Imagine anyone against you found out," Nate said, and I nodded.
"She left in a hurry. Kendrick, call the manager," I said. He stood up to go, but Nate stopped him.
"They are roommates with my mate," he said.
"Okay, do you know where she lives?"
"She refused to tell me," he scowled.
We called the manager, however, he refused to give out any information about her. It was company policy. I was furious, but I understood they were humans.
"Nate, your mate is leaving," I said. We followed her outside in our car, but Nate's mate was stopping to talk to people.
"Little flirt you have there," Kendrick mused, and Nate growled. We followed her to an apartment building.
We went to the fourth floor and knocked on their door. Nate's mate opened it; she was shocked to see all of us there.
"Wh- what are you doing here?" She asked.
"Hello, there," Nate smiled at her, and her cheeks turned pink.
"Are you following me?" she asked.
"Yes, I told you... I want to take you out on a date, and since you refused to give me your phone number, I decided to follow you," he explained.
"Also, he's here for Nalya," he pointed at me and I waved.
"Um, one-"
"Kiya! I think something is wrong. Help me!" Nalya called, and Kiya turned around in a hurry. My heart was pounding in my chest as I made my way inside.
