Kaley’s Pov
My heart was frantic, and my night was restless, thinking about how to talk to my sister. Would she believe I want to have a better relationship with her? What if she kicks me away like before? I’ve tried to reach out to Nalya for months, but she refused to see me. So, I was shocked when Alpha Thorn told me she was ready to meet and talk.
I got ready in blue pants, a silk top, and heels. I carried my bag, still nervous, and left the house. I stayed with Layth since I didn’t have anywhere else to go after I was discharged from the hospital.
I didn’t know the status of our relationship because we didn’t speak much about it, and I wasn’t sure if I was ready to mate or mark someone since Arlon’s dirty men assaulted me, especially Marley. They left me at the border of the Autumn Moon pack to leave a message for my sister.
I was walking towards the gate. I planned to get a taxi once I reached town and go to the Autumn moon. A black Cadillac stopped beside me, and I recognized the car. It was the Alphas. The windows rolled down, and there he was, sitting behind. He looked perfect with his hair and piercing eyes that made my heart pound faster than normal, that chiseled jaw that made me ... Stop, Kaley. I told myself.
“ Going for a job interview?” he asked in that seductive voice of his. Goosebumps appeared on my skin, and I frowned, looking at my outfit.
“ I’m going to see my sister. It’s Friday today,” I said. He nodded.
“ Get in, we’ll drop you,”
“ Oh, it’s alright. I can get a taxi to take me,” I didn’t want to bother him. He was on his way to a meeting, I heard him talking earlier.
“ Get in,” this time, his voice commands, and I sigh, obliging. His intoxicating scent filled my nostrils, and my wolf howled. She did this when he was close. Howling.
Our journey to the Autumn moon was silent. He was busy on his iPad, but I sensed his gaze on me a few times. I looked out the window, thinking about Nalya now. I wanted to ask for forgiveness. I shouldn’t have been cruel to make Mother happy, but deep down I loved her. I protected her when we were younger, but Mother instigated me against her, telling me all sorts of bad things. Mom hated Nalya the day Dad brought her home. She was forced to raise her because she was madly in love with Dad, and were mates, but she didn’t hide her contempt against her.
I looked at the picture of Nalya I had of her on my phone, she was glowing, happy, and even more beautiful. I heard she is the beloved Luna Princess of the Autumn Moon pack and has grown into her own. I was proud of her.
‘ Do you think she’ll accept your apology?’ my wolf asked.
‘ I don’t know, but I want to try and make things right. She’s all I have now,’ I said. I felt tingles rush down my arm when Alpha Thorn's warm hand touched me, and I gasped, startled. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to that.
“ You’re nervous,” He said.
“ Yeah. I was horrible to her,” I admitted.
“ You’re family. As long as your heart is pure and sincere, Nalya will sense that,” he said, his eyes held a kindness I didn’t know. I smiled, and his eyes lit up.
“ You smiled... At me,” he said, and I rolled my eyes. I lost my smile, and even though therapy has been helpful, I just couldn’t find my smile again. I perfected a fake one, it fooled everyone but my mate.
“ Thank, Alpha Thorn,” I rasped.
“ I told you, It's Layth,” he said, and I nodded. I was suddenly feeling emotional, and tears welled in my eyes again. I tried not to let the tears fall, but I couldn’t as I thought about what happened to me these past months. Alpha Thorn looked pained for me, and he squeezed my hand. He let me cry. I was ashamed to let him see me like this. So broken. He removed the hair covering part of my face and gave me a handkerchief I used to wipe my tears. Now, it was damp and had powder over it.
“ I swear they’ll pay for this. Those men will pay for laying a hand on you,” he growled, making me whimper. He was scary looking like that but sexier. I could tell his wolf was close, but his promise made me content.
The door opened, and the car engine started to run. I didn’t realize the car stopped and the driver got out until he got back in.
We were allowed entrance in the pack without issues, and he dropped me off at the restaurant where I was meeting my sister.
“ Call me when you’re done, and I’ll come pick you up, if not, my driver will,” he said. I was too nervous to answer him. Layth stepped out of the car and stood close to me. I needed that, I needed to feel his scent and the warmth of his body. He pulled me closer to him and kissed my forehead,
“ Kaley,” he called quietly. I looked up at him, he had never called me my name in the last months we’ve lived together, and I must admit, it sounded lovely coming from him.
“ Hmm,”
“ Do you want to have dinner with me tomorrow?” he asked. I could hear the wild pounding of his heart. Did I make him nervous too?
“ Yes,”
Alpha Thorn smiled and it took my breath away, it was like that with him. He urged me to go inside and I did, reaching the door I looked back at him, he was still watching me. He nodded encouragingly, and I went in. My hands were still visibly shaking, and when she walked in, I froze.
