Jamal Kunis POV
It has been two days since I was in the forest that night when the White Witch had tried to communicate the Moon Goddess to reveal unto me who my mate was and unsurprisingly, it worked. I never doubted the White Witch powers. After I blacked out that day, I appeared in a river the colour of the moon. I sat there for a long time, alone pondering on life. I was told that I had only spent a few minutes’ unconscious but to me it felt like I was out for years before a glimmer of something came. I had sat by the river side for hours not knowing what to do. Eventually I got bored so I started looking around. I found the answers behind an old rock. Ancient scripts were engraved on the back of a stone and while reading it, it sounded oddly like a prayer. I said the prayer and the runes faded. Another set of runes appeared and instructed me that in about an hour time, a shooting start was going to appear past the moon. If I was lucky enough to see the star, then I should proceed to look into the water. If I saw the reflection of someone else, then that person was my mate. If I saw myself, then my mate was already taken or worse, dead.
Keeping this in mind, I looked above, waiting for a sign, waiting for the shooting star to appear. I waited for about another two hours. I was not ready to give up, even if it meant staying here till I died just to discover my mate I would do it. I felt like this was something I needed more desperately than anything else. My stay with the Dark Witch had starved me of this blessing for too long. It was time I reclaimed it.
In the fourth hour, the shooting star passed by the moon so fast that I almost missed it. Like a little child who just received freedom for the first time and was off to play with his friends, I sprung up from where I sat and sprinted towards the river. Sliding and falling was all I could do not to fall inside the river. I looked into it and the moment I saw my mate's reflection; I was dragged back by an invisible force away from the vision into the real world.
"Who was it? Did you see anything?" Conrad and the White Witch had asked with concern on their face.
I stared up and said the name of the person I saw. "Methis Delis."
It was a shock to both Conrad and the White Witch. Never had it been heard of that a werewolf, not to talk of the Lycan King himself be mated to a human being. Even though I was in shock but I was pleased that the very person I had always wanted to be with even though I only thought about it in secret was my mate. It all made sense. She was the one who broke the curse, she had given birth to twins, it only made sense that she be made my mate.
I was at the rooftop of my palace with Conrad who was sitting dangerously at the ledge admiring the kingdom below when the thought hit me. I decided to share it with him.
"My mate is Methis Delis," I said.
Conrad looked back at me, he seemed to be having thoughts of his own. "What do you intend to do about it?"
"I don't know."
"You don't know?" he rubbed his hand against his jaw. "The Lycan King do not know what to do about a human girl he likes who happens to be his mate." Conrad laughed hard.
I hated it when he made fun of delicate matters like this one. "What do you intend me to do then?"
"Take her," he stated bluntly. "Take her for the god's sake. You have already been given her to you, haven't you?"
"What of her life in the human world?" I asked.
"We both know that from the day she stepped foot in this place, her human life in the human world seized to exist."
"What do you mean?"
"Think of it. Humans are delicate. They can take even the most trivial things and make a big deal out of it. Imagine a wolf, a Lycan King sticking his massive stick inside of one and making her bear children to his name only to return her back to her world." Conrad lowered his voice. "Where ever she is, she can never be the same. She has been scared by this wolf realm, by you, by Summer and Autumn, by the very existence of our being."
"If I were to go in and take her, what if she refuses?"
"If she had any sense she would not. I know she craves to be here among our people again. I just know it."
"And what if she has found someone else?" I was trying to ask Conrad of all the multiple, even though, unlikely outcomes that could play out on my arrival there.
"She can't. If you are her mate then she must have a similar attraction to you as you have to her." Conrad stopped talking and stared deep into my eyes. He chuckled. "What's wrong with you?"
"What?"
"I've seen you slay giants, I've seen you take on the Dark Witch one on one. Never have you been the one to run away from a fight, from a challenge. But how is it that a mere mortal woman makes you nervous?"
"I'm not nervous," I said.
"Good. One might think that you are." Conrad came down off the ledge. "How do you plan on taking her back?" he asked me.
"I'll go down there with the kids and bring her home," I responded. That was the only solution I could think of.
