Chapter Sixteen - Weekend away (Part one)

Ch. 16 / 32 Feb 05, 2025

Chloe

I woke up before the alarm Blake had set for us. We were leaving for his cabin today for the weekend, and we wanted to go early so we could make the most of the first day there. I am a little nervous about it. I know there is no need to be because I will be with Blake, and I know he will take care of me. I have never stayed in a cabin or seen a lake, it would be more news for me, so I am also excited.

I am in my room, making sure I have everything packed, including my medication. I have been doing well staying here with Blake. I haven’t had any issues with drink or drugs, which I am proud of. Yes, there have been moments when I wanted to buy a bottle of vodka, hide in my room and drink when he wasn’t around, but I fought against it. I don’t think Blake realises just how many ways he is helping me.

I didn’t need too much; it was only a couple of days. We won’t be wandering far, so I have mostly packed comfy clothes. As I close my small case, there is a knock on the door, and I call for him to come in.

“Good morning, beautiful. Why didn’t you wake me?” he asks with a smile.

My cheeks heat when he calls me beautiful. I am still not used to him calling me things like beautiful, gorgeous, angel and so on.

“Morning. I knew the alarm would go off, so I came through here to ensure I had everything.”

“Okay. Let me grab a quick shower, and we can head out and stop for breakfast and coffee on the way. We will need to stop at the grocery store to stock up on things for the weekend.” He smiles.

I nod, “Sounds good.”

I already had my shower. Blake heads off, and I take my bag through to sit it in the living room.

He wouldn’t take too long. I sit on the sofa and hear him come through fifteen minutes later. I glance over and see him in only a towel around his waist. I swallow hard as my eyes run over his half-naked body.

“Sorry, I forgot to take clothes with me.” he chuckles.

Hmm is the only sound I can get out. I swear I see him smirk at my reaction. I quickly pull my eyes away from him. He doesn’t need to see my bright red face. I try to keep my attention off him, but it doesn’t work because I find myself turning back to him.

Blake is facing away from me, and he drops his towels. He is naked, and I check out his bare ass. He has a nice ass, I knew that from sneaking a peek before, but it is the first time I have seen it not covered. No matter how nice it is, I shouldn’t be staring at him in such a manner.

I give myself a shake and rush to the bathroom. At least in there, then I don’t risk being a pervert. I stay in here for five minutes. That should be enough time for him to get his clothes on. I take a deep breath and exit.

“Ready to go, angel?” he asks as I approach.

“I sure am.” I chirp and smile brightly.

Blake grabs our cases, and we leave his apartment and go straight into his car.

“Pancakes for breakfast?” he asks and starts the car.

“Pancakes sound good.” I smile.

He nods and gets us on the road. I’m glad the place we are going to for the weekend isn’t too far of a drive.

We were more than halfway to the cabin. The car’s roof is down, the music is playing, and Blake is singing along terribly. I don’t know if he is an awful singer or is doing it to make me laugh. Either way, it is working because I can’t stop laughing.

He turns it down.

“Are you laughing at my awesome singing?” he pouts.

“No, not at all. You are great.”

I say each word with sarcasm which makes us chuckle loudly.

He lets out a loud huff, “So mean…”

“Aww, I am sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you,” I tease.

Blake reaches over and places his hand on my knee, “I forgive. This time.”

I shiver with his fingertips on my skin. I don’t think he notices, or if he has, he isn’t saying anything. He keeps it there as we drive.

“Can you swim?” he questions.

“Yes. Why?”

It is sort of a random question to ask someone.

“Great! We can swim in the lake then.” He exclaims and seems excited about the idea.

“I didn’t bring anything to swim in.”

He didn’t mention about swimming. If he did, I don’t remember.

“We will find you something. Shorts and a tee or something.” he smiles.

“Yes, those could work.”

I love to swim, but I haven’t done it in a long time. Max would never allow me to wear a bikini or swim costume. His excuse at first was he didn’t want any other man to see me in so little; after that, he told me I was too fat to wear them. I know Blake wouldn’t ever say such terrible things to me, but unless I can find something suitable, the thought of swimming in only my underwear is one I don’t like.

He squeezes my knee, and a small squeak comes from my lips, “I promise we will have a great time this weekend: just you, me, nature and the lake.”

“I look forward to it,” I say brightly.

It is what I needed, time away from real life, even for a couple of days.

“Me too, beautiful. We can have picnics by the lake during the day and sit in front of the fire at night.”

It all sounds nice but kind of romantic. I know there is nothing romantic about our situation, but what he is talking about sounds like things couples do. Not like he would be interested in little old me, anyway, even if things were different.

“Sounds perfect. Are you sure you wouldn’t rather be doing this with someone else, Blake?” I sigh.

I still feel like I am taking too much of his time.

“No, I would rather it be with you.”

His words come out in more of a whisper.

“Okay,” I whisper back and stare out of the window.

He turns the volume back up on the music. We don’t speak, but his hand keeps its place on my knee. I don’t mind. It is comforting.

I can’t explain it, but my gut tells me this weekend will change things. I could be wrong. Time will tell.
