Chloe hasn’t improved over the last few days. She is still deep in her depression. She has been sleeping constantly and wanting to be left alone for the most part. I feel completely helpless because I can’t make everything okay for her. I’ve been caring for her the best I can—ensuring she eats, drinks, and takes her medication. And, of course, cuddles, well, when she wanted me near her, sometimes she didn’t and would sleep in the spare room. I respected her boundaries.
I tried to convince her to see a therapist, but she isn’t ready to seek professional help yet. I didn’t push. I have someone lined up for when she is ready.
I made sure she wasn’t alone, either, when I went to work, even for a few hours. I got my mom to come to sit with her because if I had left her by herself, I wouldn’t get anything done because I would have been worried.
Thankfully, I am off today, so I will be here for her. It is ten o’clock. I’ve been up since eight, but Chloe is still sound asleep. I want to see if I can encourage her to go out today, even for an hour, to get some fresh air since she has been inside for four days straight.
I’m worried about her, but I know what episodes like these can be like. My mom used to get them a lot. They can last a day or a week, sometimes longer. There is nothing which can be done to make them pass. All I can do is be there for Chloe and make sure she knows she isn’t alone in it.
After my shower, I check in on Chloe on my way to the kitchen. She hasn’t moved an inch. She is still sound asleep, snuggling into the wolf stuffy I brought in for her yesterday. I sigh and kiss her forehead.
I head to the kitchen to start on some breakfast. I will make Chloe some too. She can get it later if she doesn’t want it when it is ready. I decided to make one of her favourites, blueberry pancakes with a side of plain Greek yoghurt. I get everything out I need to start making them.
As I mix the ingredients together, a pair of arms come around me from behind.
“Morning, handsome.”
The sound of Chloe’s sweet voice makes me smile. I stop what I am doing and turn to face her.
“Good morning, beautiful,” I chirp.
She smiles at me. I have missed seeing it because I don’t believe she has smiled once recently.
Chloe reaches up and presses a soft kiss to my lips. I rest one hand on her cheek and the other on her hip, kissing back. She slips her arms around my neck. I’ve missed her kisses over the last few days. We part after a few moments.
“How are you feeling, angel?” I ask and stroke her cheek.
“Better than I was.” She answers softly.
“You will get there, beautiful. I’m glad you feel better.”
I kiss her forehead and hug her to my chest. She happily hugs back.
“Thank you for taking care of me. For being here for me,” she whispers.
“I’ve got you, Chloe. I promise.”
I hug her for a couple of minutes before we stop. She hops up on the counter, and I continue to make breakfast. She does seem brighter.
I feel Chloe’s eyes on me as I do my thing. I catch her out of the corner of my eye in awe as she watched me with a beautiful smile present on her lips. I leave over and squeeze her thigh. A soft whimper escapes from her mouth. I don’t think she was expecting it.
I put the mixture into the pan to cook and turned my attention to my girl. I step in front of her and move to stand between her legs. I rest my hands on each side of her on the counter.
“Hi,” she giggles.
“Hi,” I chuckle and prod her nose.
She wriggles her nose and laughs. Chloe places her hand on my cheek and strokes it with the pad of her thumb.
“So handsome,” she gushes.
“Aww, thanks, beautiful.” I smile and capture her lips in mine.
I went to pull away, but she didn’t allow me to. I kept my lips on hers until she stopped kissing me.
“So, what would you like to do today? I am all yours. I have no work.” I ask.
“Hmm, I don’t know. Can we maybe go out for a little while? I don’t mind where,” she replies.
“We can do whatever you want, sweetheart.”
She nods and pecks my lips before I check on our breakfast. It is good to her see her up and about. Hopefully, it will continue.

Chloe and I return to mine after being out for a few hours. She was exhausted. I think maybe she did a little too much, a little too soon. We went for a walk, had lunch and did some shopping because she needed some clothes for work.
“I am getting too old for this,” she laughs and throws herself on the sofa.
“You are not old!” I chuckle.
She sticks her tongue out at me and laughs. I sit the bags down and stroll over to the sofa. I lift her legs, sit down and place them over my lap.
“Thank you for today. I promise to pay you back when I have the cash.” She says softly.
“I told you, sweetness, you don’t need to. I don’t mind buying you things you need.” I smile.
I know she doesn’t it like, but I really don’t mind. I have more money in my bank than what I will ever need. If I can use it to spoil my girl, I will.
“Yeah, yeah, so you keep saying.” She sighs and rolls her eyes.
I chuckle and reach over to kiss her softly.
“What do you want to do now?”
“Hmm, maybe take a nap. I am exhausted, which is silly with the amount of time I have spent sleeping recently.” She says sadly and shakes her head.
“It was what you needed, sweetheart. Okay, would you like some company for that nap?”
“Yes, please,” she grins.
I jump up from the sofa and offer her my hand, which she takes, and I help her up too. We make our way to my bedroom. She kicks her shoes off and slips under the covers. She reaches for one of my tees and changes under the covers. I strip down and join her. I wasn’t really tired, but I wanted to have her close to me.
“I would like to cook us dinner later,” she says as she snuggles into me.
“We can make it together,” I suggest.
Chloe seems to like the idea. I like the idea too. It gives us something to do together. I am just happy she managed to get out of bed today, and I will make sure she takes it easy.
