Book 2: Chapter 7

Ch. 80 / 125 Feb 08, 2026

Lenora's POV

"Lenora, Lenora"

"Lenora…" A voice called out to me in pure darkness as I tried to open my eyes but was unable to move my body. My eyes, arms, and legs seemed to have lost its function as I continued my struggle to be in charge of my body, but I was quick to get drained as I slowly succumbed to the fight.

"Lenora, get up now!" The voice echoed loudly and repeatedly as my eyes suddenly flew wide open with a gasp leaving my mouth, but no one seemed to have been in the room with me. The moment the rays of the sun touched my skin, a harsh wave of headache washed through my head as I held it tight in order to suppress the pain, but once the pain seemed to have subsided, I came to realise that I was in an unfamiliar environment.

I instantly jumped from the king-sized bed on which I was lying, and the first thing that came to my mind was my child. As I touched my stomach, I could feel its presence there. I was relieved and happy to feel it in me as it was the first time I felt its movement, but I wasn't supposed to let my happiness get to my head as I was still unsure of where I was.

There were huge picture frames on the tall walls of the room, but they were all pictures of a pretty brown-eyed brunette girl that looked my age. She was smiling and seemed happy in the pictures. She also had a tiara on her head and I realised that she must have been a princess, but with the smell of the environment, I could tell that they were werewolves and not humans.

I reached for the huge double-sided wooden door that was right in front of the bed as I attempted to open it, but it was locked shut. I tried to use the strength in me to break it open, but I had lost most of my energy and strength. Hell, I don't even know how long I have been in this place. My baby's bump was also becoming noticeable, but I doubt anyone could tell it apart from me. I tried to picture the room or remember how I had landed here, but I couldn't seem to remember anything as the last memory of me that I had was drowning in a completely dark and deep sea.

The thought of how the salty water filled my lungs made me feel some shivers down my spine as the experience was horrible. It felt like I was burning from the inside, but at the same time, it felt calm as water filled my ears, nose, and mouth. I was already giving up on everything and thought I would never make it out to deliver my child. At that point, in the middle of the cold ocean, I was more concerned about my child. I had prayed to the moon goddess that there should be a way my child would make it out alive. I guess my wish was granted as we both made it out alive. I swear to fight for my child until the day I die. Even though it was just a few weeks old, I felt so connected to it.

I had thought it wouldn't have survived all of the pain I've passed through, but it proved that it was a fighter and survived all the troubles. It was at that moment that I realised that it was special and I needed to protect it with my life, but how could I possibly have landed myself here?

I knew I wasn't in Anselm's castle as the walls of the room were of bright colours, unlike the dark atmosphere in Anselm's castle and there was this deadly aura in that place, but here felt peaceful. I was no longer hearing the cries of girls as they were being skinned alive or the voices of the men laughing at the girl's vulnerability. Here, I felt peaceful, but I couldn't possibly be comfortable here. I needed to get back home.

"Who's there?" I yelled at the top of my voice as I banged harder on the door the more my fist touched it.

"Let me out of here now!" I yelled again, louder than before, but I instantly got choked up, which led to me coughing. Being the stubborn girl that I was, I wasn't going to rest until someone opened the door, as I continued to bang on it with my yells being replaced with a cough.

"Hi!" The door flew open with a soft tiny voice as I came into contact with a blonde girl of my age, but it was too late for me to tell my fist that there was no longer a door there as I accidentally struck her nose with a blow.

"Good heavens!" Her eyes were wide open, and she covered her nose and mouth with her hand in shock. She seemed to have been really hurt, but what kind of young girl cusses with "good heavens"?

I was going to apologise to her but I restrained myself as I had no idea whether she was a good person or a bad person.

"What happened?" Another girl rushed up to us as she asked the first girl what had happened while instantly removing a handkerchief from her breast and offering it to the first girl, who had happened to have a bleeding nose. Ouch....

"Who are you people, and why am I here?" I asked them as they both turned to look at me before dusting on their dresses that I had just come to notice. It was a fine laced gown that resembled a ball gown but with a modern twist, but it seemed weird for anyone to casually wear this.

"Oh, we forgot to introduce ourselves. Our bad, "the second girl said with a soft giggle.

"She's Miriam and I'm Evelyn." She responded with a smile and yet a soft giggle as I mouthed an "oh". None of the girls resembled the girl in the huge frame, as they were both blue-eyed and blonde-haired, but I didn't bother to ask about it. It was none of my business, and I just wanted to get back home. I need to see my Alaric.

They were definitely acting strange, but I'll take it that they're nice people with some sorts of manners.

"Why am I here?" I asked again as they seemed to have skipped the question in the first place.

"The Queen will let you know all that you need to know, but first, let's get you cleaned up and sparkly," they answered, before making their way into the room and locking both my hands in theirs. I had so many questions to ask but their answers were always the same, to the point where I got impatient and just wanted to see the queen.

I was walked to a corner of the room where there was another door but smaller than the main door and wasn't double sided as they opened it for me to see the bathroom, which was almost the same size as the huge room with different designs and modern equipment in it. With the way they spoke and dressed, I had thought they wouldn't have a single modern appliance, but I was proven wrong. The floors of the bathroom were made of wood, and the tiles were the colour green. Most of the designs had prints of flowers and plants in them and actual real flower pots that were at the top of a shelf filled with different bottles of soap. There were also some bamboo sticks attached to the wall that completely gave the bathroom a natural feel, almost making it seem like you would be taking a bath in the middle of a green forest. Whoever used to stay here must have loved the forest.

After I was done admiring the aesthetics of the bathroom, I realised that they were running a hot bath for me. The heat in the room grew and was somehow making me uncomfortable, but I was able to shove the feeling away as I discarded it as nothing.

"What scent of soap would you like?" They asked as I cocked my brow in confusion.

"Vanilla, I guess" I answered.

"Oh no! It looks like we ran out of the vanilla scented soap," Miriam sighed in her soft voice as her brows furrowed in sadness.

"Would you mind choosing another scent?" Miriam asked as I sighed, How was I supposed to randomly pick a flavour without being given options?

"Why don't you just choose any scent?" I snapped at them but almost regretted it as their soft blue eyes stared at me in sadness. Why is everything about them so soft?!

"You might be allergic."

"I don't have any allergies, Just use a god-forsaken soap. I need to talk to the queen. " I groaned but was shocked to see them staring at me with their eyes wide open.

"What?" I snapped.

"Nothing, It's strange to hear someone say a swear word" Evelyn responded, but immediately shifted her focus to finding a scented soap for me. Perhaps I should have just requested an unscented soap.

"This should do it. It has a relaxing scent," Miriam said as she brought out a bottle of peppermint scented soap and poured it into the hot bath to foam. The strong smell of the soap in the hot bath and the heat coming from it was making me nauseas as I tried to contain it in me, but I wasn't able to fight the urge anymore. The next thing I could see was my vomit all over the wooden floor.
