Chapter 370

Ch. 370 / 450 May 05, 2026

The morning air was crisp, carrying the scent of pine and earth, but the camp was anything but serene. Wolves bustled in preparation—sharpening weapons, reinforcing armor, and checking supplies. The tension was palpable, like the calm before a storm.

Elyra stood in the center of the camp, her gaze sweeping over the assembled warriors. She could see the fear in their eyes, the uncertainty. But she could also see something else: resolve. They had come this far, despite the odds, and they were ready to fight.

Cassian stepped up beside her, his arms crossed and his expression grim. “The scouts have returned. Dain’s forces are massing near the Shadowed Ridge. He’s expecting us.”

Elyra nodded, her jaw tightening. “Then we won’t disappoint him.”

Cassian hesitated, his voice lowering. “Elyra, this isn’t just about him anymore. It’s about all of us—the packs, the future. If we fall here…”

“We won’t fall,” Elyra interrupted, her voice firm. “We can’t.”

She turned to the gathering crowd, stepping onto a raised platform to address them. The warriors quieted, their eyes fixed on her.

“We all know what’s at stake,” Elyra began, her voice carrying across the clearing. “Dain believes he can shape the world through shadow and fear. He believes that power is the only path to peace. But we know better. We know that unity, trust, and hope are what truly make us strong.”

The crowd stirred, murmurs rippling through the ranks.

“I won’t lie to you,” Elyra continued, her gaze steady. “This battle will not be easy. We face an enemy who wields power beyond anything we’ve ever seen. But we are not powerless. We have the strength of our bonds, the courage of our hearts, and the light of the Moon Goddess to guide us.”

She took a step forward, her voice rising with determination. “We fight not for vengeance, but for hope. Hope for a future where our children can live without fear. Hope for a world where no one must bow to the darkness. That is why we march. That is why we fight. And that is why we will not fail!”

A cheer erupted from the crowd, the sound echoing through the trees. Cassian stepped forward, his voice booming. “You heard her! Gather your weapons, steel your nerves, and prepare to march. We leave at dawn!”

The warriors dispersed, moving with purpose and renewed determination. Elyra stepped down from the platform, her legs trembling slightly. Cassian caught her arm, steadying her.

“You did good,” he said, a rare smile touching his lips.

Elyra let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. “I just hope it’s enough.”

Selene approached, her white robes shimmering faintly in the sunlight. “It was more than enough,” she said, her voice calm and reassuring. “They believe in you, Elyra. And that belief will carry them further than any weapon.”

Elyra nodded, though the weight of her responsibility pressed heavily on her shoulders. She glanced at the sky, where the sun hung high, casting long shadows over the camp.

As the final preparations were made, the atmosphere grew quieter, more solemn. Elyra walked through the camp, stopping to speak with individual warriors, offering words of encouragement and gratitude.

When the time came to march, the warriors assembled at the edge of the camp, their ranks orderly and disciplined. Elyra stood at the front, her heart pounding as she looked out over the forest.

Cassian joined her, his expression serious. “You ready for this?”

“No,” Elyra admitted, a faint smile tugging at her lips. “But I’ll do it anyway.”

He chuckled softly. “That’s the spirit.”

Selene stepped up beside them, her staff glowing faintly. “The shard’s power is growing,” she warned. “We must be vigilant. Dain will not fight fair.”

Elyra nodded, gripping the hilt of her sword. “Then neither will we.”

With a deep breath, she raised her voice. “Move out!”

The army began to march, their footsteps reverberating through the forest. The air was thick with tension, but there was also a sense of purpose, a determination to see this through to the end.

As they advanced, the light in the forest began to shift. The sun, once bright and steady, dimmed unnaturally, casting the landscape in an eerie twilight. Shadows lengthened and twisted, moving as if alive.

Elyra felt a chill run down her spine. She glanced at Selene, who gripped her staff tightly, her face pale. “This isn’t natural,” Elyra murmured.

“No,” Selene agreed, her voice barely audible. “The shard is reacting to Dain’s will. He knows we’re coming.”

Elyra’s heart sank, but she forced herself to remain calm. She couldn’t afford to let fear take hold—not now. She turned to Cassian, who was scanning the treetops with narrowed eyes.

“Keep everyone alert,” Elyra said. “If this is Dain’s doing, he might try to ambush us.”

Cassian nodded, barking orders to the scouts and flankers. The army pressed on, the oppressive darkness growing with each step.

As they reached a clearing, Elyra felt a sudden surge of energy—dark, cold, and suffocating. She froze, her hand instinctively moving to her pendant.

The sky above them churned, clouds swirling unnaturally as a deep, resonant hum filled the air. The light faded completely, plunging the clearing into near-total darkness.

Elyra’s forces halted, their unease palpable. Cassian drew his weapon, his eyes scanning the shadows. “What the hell is this?”

Selene stepped forward, her staff glowing brighter in response to the darkness. “The shard,” she whispered. “Its power is bleeding into the world.”

Elyra clenched her fists, her resolve hardening. “Then we push forward. No matter what lies ahead, we face it together.”

As they resumed their march, the unnatural darkness loomed over them, a harbinger of the battle to come. Elyra’s heart raced, but she kept her gaze forward, her determination unwavering.

Dain was waiting for her, and she would meet him head-on. No matter the cost.
