Luna Aurora

Chapter 386

Ch. 386 / 450 May 05, 2026

Elyra stumbled through the dense underbrush, her body aching from the toll of the battle. Blood soaked through her torn tunic, the wound Dain had inflicted still smoldering with the remnants of his shadow magic. Every step felt heavier than the last, the weight of both the physical pain and the lingering sense of failure dragging her down.

The Lunar Heart, still clutched tightly in her hand, pulsed weakly against her chest. She had barely managed to escape Dain’s camp, her strength waning as she moved further from his reach. The flash of light that had erupted from the heart had been her only chance to break free, but it had come at a cost. The power had burned through her, leaving her with a sense of emptiness where the heart’s light had once felt like a guiding force.

She collapsed against a tree, gasping for breath as she tried to steady herself. Her vision blurred, and the pain in her side flared again, the shadow magic still lacing through her veins, feeding on her exhaustion. She couldn’t keep this up for long—not like this.

A soft rustling of leaves broke her concentration, and Elyra’s head snapped up, her senses on high alert. Selene emerged from the shadows, her face tight with concern. Without a word, Selene knelt beside Elyra, her hands gentle as she examined the wound.

“You need to rest,” Selene said quietly, her voice laced with worry. “You’ve pushed yourself too far.”

“I don’t have time for rest,” Elyra muttered, trying to stand, but her legs trembled beneath her. “I need to get back to the others.”

Selene placed a firm hand on her shoulder, stopping her from moving. “You need to listen. You’re weakening. The Lunar Heart…it’s rejecting you.”

Elyra’s heart sank at the words. “What do you mean, rejecting me?”

Selene sighed, looking down at the glowing artifact still in Elyra’s grip. “The heart isn’t just a weapon. It’s a reflection of its wielder. And right now, it’s clear you’re struggling. You’re doubting yourself, Elyra. And when you doubt yourself, the heart doubts you too.”

Elyra’s eyes narrowed as she met Selene’s gaze. “I’m not doubting myself. I’m trying to save everything—everyone.”

“I know,” Selene said softly, her tone full of empathy. “But the heart doesn’t work like that. It won’t give you its power if it senses you’re not sure of the path you’re taking. If you don’t believe in yourself, how can it trust you?”

The words hit Elyra harder than she’d expected. She had always believed in the mission—believed in her purpose. But somewhere along the way, doubt had crept in. Was she really strong enough to stop Dain? Could she truly wield the Lunar Heart without succumbing to its power? And worse, could she stop her brother from destroying everything she loved?

“I don’t know what to do anymore,” Elyra whispered, the vulnerability in her voice startling even her. “Every step I take seems to pull me further from the path I thought I was on.”

Selene’s grip tightened on her arm, steadying her. “You have to believe, Elyra. In yourself. In the path you’ve chosen. The Lunar Heart will only fight for you if you fight for it. If you keep questioning your worth, you’ll lose it, just like you almost lost yourself.”

Elyra closed her eyes, trying to find the strength to believe in herself again. But the doubts lingered, clouding her thoughts like a storm that wouldn’t clear. How could she face Dain again, knowing he had already become something far beyond what she had once known? And could she truly stop him without losing everything—without becoming just like him?

As she struggled with these thoughts, the sharp pull of the shard surged within her, far stronger than before. Elyra gasped, her breath catching in her throat as her mind filled with images of Dain, standing victorious. His voice echoed through her thoughts, dark and filled with malice.

“You can’t run from me forever.”

The words sent a chill through her spine, and her heart began to race. The shard… it was calling to her. The more she resisted, the harder it tried to drag her in. Dain was close. She could feel it.

Elyra’s grip tightened on the Lunar Heart as she struggled to maintain control. She had to hold on. She couldn’t let Dain win. Not like this.

“Elyra,” Selene said, her voice breaking through the haze of shadow magic that surrounded her. “You can’t let him control you. You’re stronger than this.”

But Elyra wasn’t so sure anymore. She could hear Dain’s voice again, this time clearer, more insistent.

“You’re mine, Elyra. I will make you see reason. You belong by my side.”

The pull of the shard grew, and Elyra’s vision blurred once again. She was torn between the heart, her only hope to stop Dain, and the growing darkness that threatened to swallow her whole.

“I don’t know if I can keep fighting,” Elyra whispered, more to herself than to Selene. “I don’t know how much longer I can hold on.”

Selene’s gaze softened, and she knelt beside Elyra. “You’re not alone. We’ll face this together. But you have to believe in yourself, in us.”

As the shadows closed in around them, Elyra took a deep breath, forcing herself to steady her trembling hands. She couldn’t afford to lose hope—not now. Not when everything was at stake.

But the shard’s pull only grew stronger.

And Dain’s voice… it was growing closer.
