Louisa Unchained

Chapter 196

Ch. 196 / 262 Apr 29, 2026

  Louisa's POV

"Louisa, this is the best toast I've ever eaten in my life!" Colt munched and said. "And the syrup! Exquisite!"

"I'm glad that you like it, Colt," I said.

Darren hadn't said anything ever since he came back from the canteen with Colt.

"Darren, are you OK?" I asked.

  "Yeah, I'm fine," he said.

I could tell that he was deeply bothered by something.

"Did Lucas say anything to you?" I asked.

Sometimes Luas would contact him through mindlink, asking him to do bad things that he didn't want to do.

"No, Master is still asleep," he replied.

Colt stretched out his arms, leaned towards Darren, and said, "Come on, don't be so jealous like this. I knew I shouldn't have spent a whole night in Colt's tent, but I promise that nothing happened between us! We were talking about glazing machines and the next thing I realized, it was the next morning."

Darren used a fork to poke his arms, forcing Colt to stay away from him.

"I have no interest in what you did last night. Leave everything to yourself," Darren said.

Colt put another spoon of syrup on his toast and said, "I can tell that you're angry at me. I take it as a very good sign for the development of our relationship. It's very unhealthy, but I kind of like it."

Darren looked furious. He stuck the fork in the toast on Colt's plate and put it onto his own plate.

"Hey, that's the last piece and it's the best piece!" Colt protested with a grievance.

Darren picked up a knife and scraped the syrup off the toast.

"Oh, no!" Colt exclaimed. "Now you're ruining a masterpiece of breakfast art!"

"Yeah, and I'm leaving crumbles and syrup all over the plate," Darren said. "And I'm doing this."

He started to scratch the plate, using the fork in his hand.

"You've gotta be kidding me!" Colt jumped up and covered his head, looking through his fingers as if he was looking at some horror scenes. "Stop it! That's too much violence for an ordinary breakfast!"

I confiscated the plate and knife from Darren and passed them to the maids.

Snow was standing on my shoulder and whispered, "Are these two human beings eight years old?"

"Not really," I wiped the table and said, "They can't be more than six."

I felt so relieved to see Darren like this. He was more lively when Colt was around. He showed a sense of humor. He even laughed from time to time.

I wished he could always be like this.

Then, I saw Gianna walking into the tent with some maids.

"Hey, Louisa. You look beaming this morning," She smiled at me and said.

I felt a bit shy and scratched my head.

"Good morning, Gianna," I said. "Thank you for your kind words and you look so gorgeous."

I didn't exaggerate. Not a bit. Gianna was wearing a beautiful sky-blue morning gown and she moved in a way like she was floating in the air. Her dark brown hair was waving in the morning breeze. If the Moon Goddess had a human form, I bet it must be like Gianna.

She held my arms and said, "I'm sorry for popping up so early in your tent, but I really want to see you. I want to make sure that you're alright because that dummy head wouldn't tell me anything."

I knew she was referring to Lucian and I chuckled. Lucian sometimes did look like a clothes display dummy. Both of them didn't have any facial expressions.

"I'm fine. Don't worry about me, really," I lowered my head and said to Gianna. "Lucas and I always fight with each other. We have a very volatile relationship with each other."

"I had never thought that Lucas could have any kind of relationship with anyone except Lucian," Gianna said. "He likes you very much, or else he wouldn't put you into this Luna Tent. Oops, where's my manner? Who are these two gentlemen?"

"This is Darren and this is Colt. They are my friends." I turned to both of them and said, "Guys, this is Gianna. She's Beta Lucian's wife."

"Glad to meet you, beautiful lady," Colt bowed slightly and said.

"Glad to meet you, Lady Gianna," Darren lowered his head and said.

"Oh, Darren! You're Darren! Ah, I met your brother before. I'm so sorry about what happened to him. It's such a tragedy." Gianna said and held Darren's hands.

"Thank you, Lady Gianna," Darren whispered. "My brother told me about how kind you were to him. I really appreciate your kindness to him."

"Oh, Darren. You look just like your brother. But I know deep inside, you're stronger than him, aren't you?" Gianna said while stroking his face.

  "Yes, My Lady," Darren whispered.

"Come on, Darren. Call me Gianna. I can't believe I didn't recognize you. I've got so distracted by this pregnancy. I really wish I could pop this naughty guy out," Gianna lowered her head and checked her bulged belly.

Then, she looked up at Darren and said, "Do you want to touch it?"

Darren immediately stepped back a bit and said, "Lady Gianna, I don't think it's appropriate..."

"Come on, you can touch it. A warlock's blessing will be much appreciated." Gianna smiled at him and said. She put his hands on her belly.

At that very moment, Darren looked surprised. I could tell that he had sensed something, but somehow he couldn't let it out.

It reminded me of the traveling druid's words last night.

He said Gianna's child would die inside of her belly and Gianna would be separated from Lucian because of this.

Gianna noticed the change of look on Darren's face and asked, "Darren, what's going on? Are you OK?"

"Yes, My Lady," Darren said in a panic. "Your baby boy will be a strong and muscular child."

"Thank you, Darren," Gianna smiled at him and nodded.

I could tell she had sensed something, but she didn't let it out.

"Lucian told me that you're going to Swans' Castle on the Cliff of Fear. It sounds like a very intimidating trip," Gianna said.

"Count Vincent Swans is a friend of mine. We helped him to reconcile with his son, William Swans. And I guess he just wanted to invite us to his castle to say thank you," I said.

"Yes, I understand," Gianna said. She looked a bit concerned and lowered her voice. "Vincent is a very old man and he's known for his unpredictable temperament. Plus, an old man sometimes gets confused and says senseless, cynical things. You need to use your better judgment when it comes to his words."
