Louisa's POV
I had never cried out so hard in my life.
I was lying in Gianna's arms and cried my heart out.
I knew it was very inappropriate to cry like that in front of someone that you had just met, but I felt that she had known me for a really long time.
Maybe it was because she was pregnant and the hormone she gave off made me feel that I was crying in my mother's arms.
Maybe it was because I felt very guilty because I had had some very impure thoughts towards Lucian.
Maybe it was because she had never tried to stop me from crying.
Maybe...
Maybe it was because I realized that I could never have a man loving me in the same way Lucian loved Gianna.
Love was the only thing I wanted in my life, but love wasn't something that I believed in.
I guessed before I met Gianna, I thought maybe love was just something people made up in fairy tales.
But when I saw Lucian holding and kissing her, when I saw the devotion in their eyes when they laid their eyes on each other, I realized that love did exist.
And I was the only one who had never been loved by anyone in the entire world.
What if Gianna found out that I had seduced Lucian before?
What if Lucas found out that I had kissed Zackery?
My whole life would be ruined because of my stupidity.
I didn't deserve to have a mate like Lucas. I didn't deserve to have a sister like Gianna.
Love was the only thing I wanted in my life.
But it turned out, I knew nothing about love.
Lucian, obviously, didn't anticipate this situation.
He walked away for a while, and when he came back, some soldiers were following him, grabbing a druid in their arms.
"Ahhh! He's the head of those traveling druids!" Mana and Mata ran towards me and exclaimed in trembling voices.
I immediately stopped crying and looked up.
The traveling druid was in terrible condition. Half of his scalp was peeled off, hanging on the side of his ear. His whole face was full of bruises, bite marks, and claw scratches. I couldn't see his original face. His shoulders were dislocated. Both of his arms were dangling down like noodles.
As soon as he saw Mana and Mata, he spat blood at them and said, "Lowbred reptile brains! I should have killed you both on that fucking island! How dare you betray us!"
Mana and Mata hid behind my back and wiped the blood on their faces.
"We aren't reptiles and we didn't betray you!" They shouted.
"You were really mean you asked for it!"
"You can't hurt us anymore!"
The traveling druid ignored them and suddenly laid his sight on me.
"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" He stared at me and said. "A witch? A werewolf? Or a vampire?"
He tried to walk closer, but he was stopped by the soldiers.
"Stay put or we'll burn you!" The soldiers said.
"Ha! Burn the Gifted Ones! Because that's going to solve everything! How pathetic! They've been trying to burn us for thousands of years and I'm still standing here, laughing at them! " The druid shouted.
He was extremely loud and I had to cover my ears.
"You don't have to be that loud. They can't hear you," I said in a low voice.
"What did you just say?!" he shouted.
I saw blood dripping from his ears and I realized that there must be something wrong with his hearing.
I cleared my throat and raised my voice, "I said, you don't have to be that loud. I can hear you."
Lucian asked him, "Who asked you to kidnap my wife and brother? Who asked you to ambush Alpha Lucas?"
"Beta Lucian from the White Walkers. The wise one. A Kingfisher from the Great King's cabinet. The prodigal prince abandoned his father's legacy and heritage. And his wiser wife, Princess Gianna. A rockrose from Reinherd City. The descendant of King Czar the Great's deathbed companion! The jewel of his coronation crown! Their matrimony will end in nothing but a tragedy, for their unborn son's life will cease before the darkest night of the year..."
The traveling druid's voice was as sharp as a knife, making my hair stand on my arms and scratching my skull.
Lucian must have noticed that something was wrong with my face, so he asked, "Louisa, what did he say?"
"He's insane now and he's talking nonsense! He doesn't know what he is talking about. We need to lock him up and ask him when he's sane," I said.
I didn't want to repeat what he had said to Lucian and Gianna.
No one in their right mind would cast such a vicious curse on such a nice couple and their unborn child.
"Louisa, I need you to tell me exactly what he said."
"He didn't say anything. He was talking about you and Gianna's ancestors. That's it. Look at him! Half of his face is falling off. He can't talk about anything right now." I looked at Lucian and said. "Listen, it's already late. Why don't we take Gianna back to the camp right now? She's soaked in blood and Leo's exhausted. We can lock this traveling druid up for tonight and we'll deal with him tomorrow when he's stabilized."
Lucian looked at me for a while and eventually nodded to those soldiers.
They escorted that traveling druid away.
When they walked past me, the traveling druid stopped and asked, "Why didn't you tell that lovely couple their son is going to die as a stillborn child? Why are you among werewolves instead of us? The war is coming and vengeance will be served. Look at what they've done to the Gifted Ones! Look at what they've done to the Stargazers! Look at what they've done to Wray Fay the Star Chaser! Don't trust those werewolves, for they only trust the ones of their own kind!"
His mouth started foaming and his eyes were rolling around like crazy in his broken eye sockets.
"He's losing too much blood and he's having a stroke!" I said while holding his twitching body in my arms. "I need to stay with him and take care of him! Please take Gianna back to the camp and stay with her, Lucian. Leo and I will stay with this traveling druid for tonight."
"I can't let you do it," Lucian said. "The people behind him knew he was captured by us, so they definitely will send someone to kill him tonight..."
"And then we'll find out who's behind all this," I said.
Lucian looked at me with interest and asked, "You've learnt that from hunting as well, Miss Louisa?"
I ignored his probing question and told the soldiers, "Tie his arms and legs. Put some cloth in his mouth, so he doesn't bite his tongue. Let's start the bleeding first."
