Louisa's POV
"What's going on?" Gianna walked next to me and asked.
"This slut is going to steal your husband from you behind your back! That's what's going on!" Josephine said indignantly.
"First of all, no one is going to steal my husband away from me," Gianna said in a calm voice.
Josephine wanted to say something, but Gianna raised her hand and stopped her. Then, she continued, "Second, this is the Fire and Wind camp. Almost all the alphas from the north and south are having a meeting in the grand tent over there. Don't make a scene and make a fool of yourself. Third, you're Lady Josephine Finch from Goldpaw Canines, not some random farmer's daughter. Even if you've found something suspicious between my husband and this girl, you can tell me in private and I'll double-check with my husband and then confront her with evidence and witness. You don't have to shout and scream like this in public. Acting like this only makes people look down upon you."
Gianna's voice was low and steady but was very assertive and persuasive. She has the voice of a matriarch and the pose of a real princess.
Josephine was immediately silenced. She walked next to Gianna, pulled her sleeves, and mumbled, "Gianna, we've grown up together. You're my best friend. You're so kind and nice all the time, and you only see the best of people. But I'm not like you. I'm not prepared to turn a blind eye to any contemptible behavior, especially those sluts who try to sabotage other people's husbands or boyfriends!"
Then, she gave me a vicious look and said, "Sometimes, I just don't get those poor sluts. Some of them must be illiterate or something. It seems that they've never heard of Guillaume's Principle. They don't know a Lycan can only get married with pure blood. So whenever they see a rich and powerful man, they just can't wait to get stripped naked and spread their legs wide open. Poverty must have driven them mad or delusional. With all the redneck farmers and horsemen in the world, they just have to stick out their dirty paws at the rich and the privileged. Back in King's Land, I saw a lot of social climbers. They are all consumed by their own greed and impossible daydreams before getting knocked up and abandoned. You know what? They all end up in brothels and whore houses! Every single one of them! To be honest, I really don't have any sympathy for those girls without any self-respect..."
"Josephine," I interrupted in a calm voice. "You need to shut up right now and walk away. I don't have anything to say to you and I don't want to hear any of your biased nonsense about the poor and the rich. I haven't stolen anything from you. Lucas isn't a pair of earrings or a handkerchief that can be put in my pocket and taken away. He's a grown-up man and he makes his own decisions."
When Josephine heard the words "earrings" and "handkerchief", the expression on her face immediately changed from a sadistic, mischievous smile into a dark, ferocious stare.
I knew the handkerchief that I found in Akela's tent the other day was hers. Maybe she wanted to get into her tent and killed her or something. I really didn't know. But the stormy look on her face almost confirmed that she was planning to do something to Akela the other night.
I turned to Gianna and said, "You look very pale, Gianna. Do you want to come to the tent and take a rest?"
Gianna looked at me and nodded. Then, she walked into the tent with Leo on her side.
I gave Josephine a dark look and said, "Josephine, I disagree with everything that you've said except one thing. People aren't blind. If you have done bad things to others, bad things will come back and haunt you, because karma's a bitch."
Josephine hissed like an angry python and said, "Let's wait and see, bitch! I always get what I want! You've stolen my man, my guards, and my best friends! I'll show you what karma is!"
Then, she turned back and walked away.
I tilted to Mick and said in a low voice, "Ask Biri and Eel to follow her and see what she's planning to do."
Mick nodded and went on talk to Biri and Eel.
Josephine was in Akela's tent and she didn't get what she wanted. I have just beaten the bush and suggested that I had some evidence. She must freak out right now and try to take some action to cover her real intention. Then, I'll know what she really wants to do. I thought to myself.
I turned back and saw Giann standing inside the tent.
She didn't look particularly mad, but judging from the serious look on her face, I knew I was about to face the music.
I took a deep breath and walked inside.
Gianna looked at me with a clenched jaw. Her whole body was trembling and she couldn't even stand straight.
Leo was holding her arms, trying to walk her to the seat, but she refused.
"Leave us, Leo," she said in a low voice. "Take Will with you."
"Gianna, you need to sit down," Leo said with concern.
"I'm not leaving Louisa," Will ran and hid behind my back.
"Leo," she repeated, looking paler, but more determined.
Leo grabbed Will up in his arms and walked out of the tent.
"Louisa! Let go of me, Leo! I want to stay with my mom! Leave me alone!" Will exclaimed and struggled.
His voice faded as they walked away.
Only Gianna and I were left in the tent.
Silence hung between us. I had never felt this awkward in my life.
"Gianna..." I cleared my voice and said.
I couldn't finish my sentence because I didn't know what to say.
I had a feeling that the conversation I was about to have would be the most difficult one in my life.
"Louisa..." Gianna said in a calm voice, walking towards me.
"Why did you seduce my husband?"
