Louisa’s POV
The black wolf took me on his back and bolted.
He dashed among rocks and branches without any effort.
His black mane was like a waving flag in the air.
I didn’t know how long we had run before he stopped in a meadow land deep down inside a valley.
Beautiful flowers in all colors were scattered among waves of verdant grass.
A crystal clear creek was slowly running down from the snow-covered mountain in distance.
He crossed his legs and lay down on the grass, so I could climb down his back.
I couldn’t walk further because my legs were shaking.
I was very excited because of the ride.
I fell to the ground and leaned against his belly.
I looked up, there wasn’t a single trace of cloud in the endless stretch of cerulean sky.
I lifted my arms.
The sunlight was pouring down on my face through the gaps in my fingers.
I moved my fingers.
It looked as if I could catch the light.
I looked up at the big black wolf, he was turning his head and looking at me.
Then, his giant puffy tail was put above my head.
I realized that he was trying to block the sunshine for me.
I turned my head and buried my face in his belly.
"You’re so kind to me." I murmured, "I want to stay with you like this for the rest of my life."
He grunted as if he was trying to say something.
I wrapped my arms around his body and said, "See, big paw. If we hold each other very tightly like this and make a wish to Moon Goddess, time will be stopped. Then, we’ll be with each other all the time. Let’s try it."
I closed my eyes.
"Please make time stop and let me stay with big paw for the rest of my life." I whispered.
I opened my eyes and saw his eyes were closed as while.
I lifted my chin and quickly pecked him on his snout.
He opened his eyes and looked at me, licking his snout.
"We’ve stopped time for one second." I smiled at him.
And I used that second to hold you in my arms and kiss you. I thought to myself.
He started to lick me.
It felt so tickling, so I chuckled and ran away.
He stood up and followed me.
I picked up some flowers and made a giant garland.
Then, I tiptoed, and stretched my arms, trying to reach his head.
He lowered his head, so I put it on top of his head.
He looked a bit comical with so many colorful flowers decorating his head.
I picked up some more flowers and wove them into a garland for me.
He used his snout to take the garland from my head.
Then, he put it on my head solemnly while looking at me.
My heart was pounding fast in his glare.
A gentle breeze started to gracefully flick through the valley.
The downy tufts of dandelions were lifted up in the air and spread all over the valley.
I felt overwhelmed with joy, so I started to dance in the wind.
My old nanny used to teach me how to dance.
She told me that all the girls from Blade Ridge Pack were born to be great dancers.
Dancing wasn’t just a ceremonial ritual to us, but a way to show our love and happiness.
My champagne-colored hair was waving in the wind.
The hem of my gown was floating up and down.
I danced to the silent music under the sun, surrounded by the fragrance of grass and flowers in the wind.
I felt that I was floating in the air.
I danced until I was absolutely exhausted, and fell to his body like a ragged doll.
We lay together for hours, listening to the gurgling sound of the creek and the chirping of the birds.
When the sun started to set and changed everything in the valley into gold, I said, "I love you, big paw."
He wrapped me with his tail.
I kissed his tail and asked, "What do you look like when you shift into a man?"
There was no response from him.
I crawled forward and pressed my head against his.
"If you shift into a man, will you still like me?" I asked.
Still no response.
I looked up to him and saw he had already stood up, looking at a distance while flickering his ears.
He looked vigilant.
"What is it, big paw?" I asked.
He looked forward and shook his head.
The big garland was thrown on the ground.
Then, he suddenly sprang in one direction.
I looked in the direction he ran and saw a giant figure emerging behind a bush.
It was a giant grizzly bear, which looked even larger than the black wolf.
It was a lone ranger male bear, with a muscular hump on both sides of his broad shoulders.
It seemed that he had just been fishing for salmon downstream, because his hair was damp and moist.
As soon as he saw the black wolf, he showed his teeth.
A roar came from the back of his throat.
Grizzly bears were the primary rival for wolves in the wild.
They were majestic and powerful.
They could easily crush wolves with their sheer body mass.
This grizzly bear was particularly huge.
It looked as if was all jacked up and ripped.
He raised his arms, stood on his back feet, and braced for the attack of the black wolf.
Despite this, he still wasn’t ready for the huge impact of the charge from the black wolf.
As the wolf dashed and jumped at him, he swung his forearm in full blow and tried to knock the wolf on his head.
I was about to scream out, but his blow was so fierce.
But the wolf was agile, he quickly dodged this blow and gripped the bear’s throat with teeth.
His giant fangs were embedded into the bear’s neck, slashing and stabbing into his flesh like daggers.
The bear screamed and used all his force to shove the wolf away.
The wolf flipped in the air and landed on the ground steadily.
He spat.
A big chunk of flesh was torn from the bear’s neck, with blood and fur dripping all the way.
The bear roared in pain and reduced himself into a fur ball, withdrawing and gasping.
Then, he started rolling on the ground, with a fountain of blood shooting out from his throat.
The wolf dashed and charged at the bear, seized at the back of his neck and ground his teeth.
That was the final strike.
The giant fur ball in front of the wolf suddenly stopped seizures and twitching.
I couldn’t believe what I saw, but apparently, the black wolf had killed a giant grizzly bear within two rounds.
And he remained miraculously unharmed.
I looked at the back of the wolf and a terrible thought suddenly appeared in my mind.
What if…
… Could he help me…
… to kill Alpha Lucas?
