Louisa’s POV
I was left on the bed, chained and collared.
Despised and disfavored.
I covered my face and wept silently.
How could I be this stupid?
Lucian and Leo were the only ones who were trying to help me.
But I ruined it just like that.
I was in tremendous fear again, having realized that there would be no one in this pack to help me.
My stomach started turning and my head was deflated.
Maybe a stupid girl like me didn’t deserve to be loved or cherished.
Maybe I was just supposed to be chained and locked up, being someone’s subject or a disposable sex toy.
Uma told me that I should aim at being a Luna.
But if she had spent more time with me, she would have seen how wrong she had been.
I was a complete disgrace.
A shame.
And she died for a foolish girl like me.
I just wasn’t wired up for something so sophisticated as vengeance.
As I was about to cry myself to sleep, I heard some chaos from outside the tent.
"Stay here and wait for your turn." A voice said.
I crawled up and dragged the chain to the entrance.
Then, I slightly lifted the curtain, looked out of the tent and saw a giant beautiful black wolf sitting in front of my tent.
He was even larger than Lucian’s wolf.
I noticed that he was chained and collared as well.
There were several severe zigzagged claw and bite marks on his back.
Uma told me that wolves couldn’t heal themselves when they were in wolf form.
If the wounds got inflamed, it would be deadly.
I was looking worriedly at his back and suddenly, he saw me.
When our eyes met, I immediately dropped the curtain.
For a while, there was no sound coming out of my tent.
I lifted the curtain again and saw the wolf lying on his stomach and resting on the ground.
His ears flicked as soon as I lifted the curtain.
But he didn’t look up at me.
"Are you hurt?" I asked.
There was no response.
"Do you want some water?" I asked.
He snorted and didn’t say anything.
I walked back to my tent and took the water pot out.
When I lifted the curtain, I saw him sitting up again.
I lifted the pot up to his snout.
He stuck out his giant tongue and licked the water from the pot.
The water was stirred out of the pot and splashed on my face.
After he drank up all the water in the pot, he looked at me with a tilted head.
Then, he licked the water from my face.
His tongue was warm, slimy and tickling.
I stepped back a bit and giggled.
He looked surprised and licked me again.
I giggled again and held his giant snout with my hands.
"Don’t do that again." I burst into laughter while stroking his snout.
He looked at me with his golden eyes with curiosity.
"I have some potions to cure your wounds." I said, "But it’s in a box of potions and I can’t identify it. Let me get it."
I ran quickly back to the tent and took out Uma’s potion box.
I opened them and took out all the potion bottles and vials.
"I guess it’s this one." I took up a bottle and said.
He moved his head forward and sniffed it.
Then, he shook his head.
I opened another bottle and said, "How about this one?"
He sniffed it and sneezed.
I just couldn’t stop laughing.
For a brief moment, I forgot the fact that we were both chained.
Eventually, he used his snout to push a golden bottle forward.
I read the label, "This is calendula powder. Are you sure about it?"
He nodded slightly.
I stretched my arms forward, but I couldn’t reach his back.
The chain on my neck was pulled at the maximum length.
"Could you turn a bit so I can apply the potion on your back?" I asked.
He thought for a while and turned his giant body around, facing me with his back.
I poured the powder into my hands and gently rubbed it on his wound.
As the powder touched his skin, his body twitched and his head suddenly turned back.
His lips were curled up and his giant sharp fangs were exposed.
He was grunting in a low pitch and his eyes were narrowed.
I was scared, so I apologized right away, "I’m sorry. I’m sorry."
Then, I puffed out some air on his wound, trying to blow away the residue on his wounds.
He looked at me as if he was blank for a brief moment.
Then, he turned his head away from me.
After I applied the powder to his wounds, he turned back to me.
I was busy collecting all the bottles and vials inside the box when he wrapped his tail around me and drew me closer to him.
I knew this was his way to "thank you", so I wrapped my arms around his neck and said, "It’s OK, big guy. I’m here and you’ll be fine now."
Then, his ears started to flick again.
He immediately stood up and blocked me behind him.
I looked at him from behind.
He was as tall as a mountain.
Some soldiers walked toward us and I immediately hid behind the curtain.
"It’s your turn, rouge." they said, "You’re going to fight against our Gamma this time. Good luck with that."
"If you’re still alive after three rounds, your life will be spared and you can stay in our pack."
They unchained him and walked him away.
I was worried.
A Gamma was the most qualified warrior in a wolf pack besides the Alpha.
This rouge was big, but he was badly hurt.
He might not be able to survive three rounds with the Gamma of the most powerful pack in the world.
I didn’t know why, but somehow I just didn’t want to see him getting hurt.
But how could I get out of this tent?
