Louisa Unchained

Chapter 184

Ch. 184 / 262 Apr 29, 2026

  Louisa's POV

"What did you just say?!" I was shocked.

"On our way to this place, we heard some traveling druids talking about their plans to kidnap a man called Alpha Lucas from the White Walkers."

"They broke a street lamp and tied up some rope on a road. Then, they were hiding in the dark and waiting for his arrival."

"But halfway into the operation, they suddenly called it off."

"We didn't know why, but we heard that they wanted to kidnap Beta Lucian's wife and brother."

"Are you sure about what you've heard?!" I asked.

"People can't hear us, but we've got good ears." Both of them shrugged and said.

Lucian seemed to notice something wrong must have happened according to my facial expressions.

He asked, "Miss Louisa, what did they say?"

"Lucian, where is Gianna right now?" I asked.

"She's on the way to our camp with Leo," he said.

"You need to call Gianna right now. They said that those traveling druids wanted to kidnap her and Leo!" I said. "They had planned to catch Lucas, but somehow they changed their target!"

Lucian immediately turned back and walked off.

"Where are you going?" I chased him up.

"Go to Luke's tent and stay with him. Don't go anywhere tonight," Lucian said. His voice was still reserved and cool, but I could tell that he was extremely upset through his eyes.

"Lucian, let me go with you..." I pleaded.

"Go to Luke's tent right now, Miss Louisa!" Lucian raised his voice.

I was shocked. I had never seen Lucian being so anxious.

I instantly knew he needed some help.

"No. I want to go to look for Gianna with you. That's what friends do," I looked at him and said.

At that time, Zackery walked towards us and said, "What happened? I was just putting Akela into bed."

Lucian looked at him and said, "Your Excellency, I'm afraid we have to call off the trip to Moonlight Cave tonight. We have a curfew on this camp now. No one gets in or goes out without Alpha's permission."

Zackery looked a bit disappointed and said, "Well, I guess I had to stay in Akela's tent tonight. She refused to go back to her tent, so I had to put her in my tent. So, no bubble bath or midnight safari today."

Lucian said, "I'll ask the soldiers to send more amenities into Akela's tent to ensure Your Excellency's comfortable staying."

Zackery looked at him and asked, "Is this curfew necessary? I thought Miss Louisa had already found the bad guys hidden in the well."

Lucian said, "They were just the mules. Someone has to pass a package to them. Someone else is lurking in the camp now and we have to find out who this person is. Please don't worry about it, Your Excellency. My people are already on it."

Zackery sighed and said, "OK. I understand."

Then, he turned to me and said, "Little girl, I'm sorry we can't go out tonight. But I promise I'll make it up for you tomorrow."

After Zackery walked away with his soldiers, I turned to Lucian and said, "Let's go now."

Lucian said, "Miss Louisa, you can't come with me. It's too dangerous."

"Lucian, I won't let you go without me. I can communicate with those druids. Don't waste any time. Let's just go," I said.

"Miss Louisa..." Lucian was just about to say something, the two fishermen approached us.

  The soldiers stopped them.

Covered in towels, they looked at me with their giant black eyes as if they wanted to say something.

"What do you want?" I frowned and asked.

"Miss... Beta Lucian is a great man. We want to help him."

"We can't go back to our island like this. Those druids will come back and take away boats again."

"We know where to find those druids. They are very bad people, Miss. We can help you."

"They want to come with us and help." I looked at Lucian and said.

Lucian nodded and said, "Let them come. I can feel Gianna is in trouble and we need to find those druids as soon as possible."

The soldiers had brought us horses. One of the fishermen rode with Lucian and the other one rode with me.

"What's your name?" I asked the one who rode with me.

"My name is Mana. My brother is Mata. We don't have any last names, because when our ancestors were cast away from the mainland, we lost our last names," he said.

"So where are we going?" I asked the one who rode with me.

"Those traveling druids have a base camp in Mount Backsaw." Mana pointed at the dark mountain beyond the forest.

I looked at the wounds on his head and said, "I'm sorry for pouring hot oil on you and threatening to pickle you. I will never do such things to other people."

"Well, it's OK, actually. People have done worse things to us and they didn't feel apologetic. I know you won't change us into pickles. I know you won't even hurt a pickle. I'm not very smart, but I can recognize kind people when I see them. I haven't met any kind of people except you and Beta Lucian ever since we were brought to the mainland. Thank you for being so kind to us." He looked back at me with his watery eyes.

"And... I would like to apologize for trying to steal the jewelry from that nice lady, hypnotizing her, hiding in your well, and using bad language. I will never do such things again," he added.

I felt touched by his honest and sincere words.

They were just some poor fishermen who were taken away from their homeland and enslaved by bad people. They were treated like monsters, freaks, walking fish with human legs.

People threw stones at them just because they looked different.

Their desperate scream and cries for help could never be heard by anyone.

"What kind of assholes walk into people's houses and take away their boats?!" I said indignantly.

"Well, the very bad kind, Miss," Mana replied. "This world is filled with idiots who think themselves are better than others. That's just the way it is. We're just two stupid tuna heads. We can't do anything about it."
