His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 106

Ch. 106 / 264 Apr 07, 2026

The next day, Connor went downstairs and didn't see Annette. He asked Dwayne, "Where's Annette?"

"Ms. Hall left half an hour ago."

Connor had a poker face and did not say anything. He went to the dining table and had breakfast alone.

When Connor returned to the villa in the evening, he still didn't see Annette.

Connor's face was a little cold. He looked at Dwayne and asked, "Have you called her?"

"Leonard called Ms. Hall. She said that she had to work overtime and might be busy until late. She asked Leonard to go first," Dwayne quickly replied.

Connor looked somewhat annoyed. He said, "Tell Leonard to come back."

After that, he didn't even get changed and left home.

Annette had dinner at school and then went straight back to her office.

Other teachers had gotten off work.

Annette planned to spend the night in the office and go back to her rented apartment tomorrow to see if there were any reporters there.

If there were no reporters, she would go back. If there were, she would rent a new place.

Since she had made things clear with Connor, it would be inappropriate for her to stay at his house.

It was a little cold at the beginning of November.

Annette went to the bathroom to wash her face. When she came out of the bathroom, the sensor lights in the corridor suddenly flickered, making her nervous.

She took a deep breath and walked back to the office.

However, the sound of footsteps rang out from the stairs.

Annette's heart tightened, and for some reason, she felt every hair on her body stand on end.

She rushed into the office and locked the door.

There are many offices along the corridor. However, the footsteps stopped behind her.

  Annette was frightened.

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

She covered her mouth and burped in shock.

The knock on the door continued.

  "Open the door. It's me."

Hearing the familiar voice, Annette was relieved in an instant.

She turned around and opened the door. The moment she saw Connor, she heaved a sigh of relief. She asked, "It's you."

"Who else do you think it is?" Connor looked at her with displeasure.

Annette shook her head and tried her best to look calm. She asked, "Why are you here?"

Connor said with a straight face, "To pick you up from work."

Annette opened the cabinet hurriedly and took out her bag. She walked to him and said, "Let's go."

She turned off the lights in the office and pushed Connor out.

She took two quick steps and followed him closely.

  Connor looked at Annette.

She looked back nervously from time to time.

Connor smiled wickedly and shouted in her ear, "Hey."

Annette was shocked and screamed, grabbing his arm tightly.

After she reacted, she realized that Connor was scaring her deliberately.

She pinched his arm unhappily, snorted, and walked down the stairs.

When she arrived at the entrance of the office building, she raised her head and exhaled, thinking, 'I would never work overtime again.'

Connor looked at her and asked, "If I didn't come, you would not go home tonight, right?"

Annette did not make a sound.

On the road not far away, someone was walking toward them. Annette was afraid that she would be noticed. She went down the stairs hurriedly and walked to the car. "Aren't you coming?"

Connor followed and opened the door to get in the car.

He started the car but did not drive away.

He asked, "Are you trying to avoid me tonight?"

Annette replied seriously, "I have unfinished work, or I won't have to work overtime."

"You're the only one working overtime in the entire building. Is it because you're too diligent, or is it because you can't get things done on time?"

Connor raised his eyebrows as he said, "In my opinion, neither of them is the real reason. So, there is only one possibility. You are avoiding me. If I didn't come tonight, what would you do?"

Annette bit her lip and said, "I have no plans. Since we have made things clear, we should keep our distance. We can only be friends and will never be a couple."

"You plan to sleep in the office, even if you are afraid, right?"

"I planned to go back to the apartment tomorrow to take a look. If there are still paparazzi over there, I will rent another place and move out of your house," Annette said, looking at Connor seriously. "After all, I can't stay in your house all the time."

"Do you think I will give up on you after what you said last night?"

"At least, you should know what I am thinking. I don't think you will force me."

Connor tilted his head and smiled calmly. He said, "Annette, I have never met a person as stubborn as you. But since I've met you, I won't give up on you. If you think that I've put you under a lot of pressure, I'll go easy on you. Don't run away. If you do, I will pounce on you."

Annette looked at him. So, what she said that night was in vain?

"Do you think we can really be together?"

Connor started the car and drove away. He said, "In the future, don't work overtime alone at midnight. If you want to hide from me, just tell me. I can offer you a private space."

  Annette did not speak.

If not for the fact that Kyle had given her a heavy blow...

Perhaps, she wouldn't have been so resistant to Connor.

He was so good to her.

Connor looked at Annette's expression and said confidently, "Just wait and see. You will regret not accepting me one day."

Annette smiled. Maybe. However, at least now, she did not dare to accept his affection.

After they returned home, Connor turned into a completely different person.

His previous coldness was gone. He said to Dwayne, "Prepare dinner. Annette and I will come down for dinner in ten minutes."

  "Okay, Alpha Connor."

Connor and Annette went upstairs. Dwayne looked at them and thought, "The calm Alpha Connor has changed a lot recently. If Ms. Hall becomes the Luna of the Blood Moon Pack, it might be a great thing."
