Vanessa's POV
Axel being Athena's mate should have bothered me for it was the biggest betrayal you could make yet it didn't. Axel excited me; I had been with a few men before as I became sexually active at sixteen however none of them held the stamina he had. I could feel myself nearing my orgasm as he thrusted into me, but I needed him harder than this. Using my strength and speed I flipped us around so that I was straddling him. Axel grabbed a hold of my hips as he bobbed me up and down, as amazing as the depths he reached was it wasn't nearly enough to satisfy me. I began to rotate my hips, the friction of my slick clit rubbing on him as well as his rock-hard length deep inside me sent me straight over the edge. "Excuse me? You could have told me to leave when I was in the shower with you, but you didn't. You let me suck your dick and then you instigated the fuck we just had. The only thing you need to be thinking about is when you're going to grow the balls you need to reject that wolf less, disappointment of a sister of mine" I shouted at him while getting dressed.
Before I could blink Axel was in front of me his hand around my throat as he pushed me onto my back. I should have been scared, a lesser she-wolf would have been, yet I wasn't. His show of strength and anger had me dripping with arousal. I knew I wanted this man and I'd be damned if my sister was going to have him. It was obvious he could smell how excited I was becoming with what was happening as he placed his nose in the crook of my neck inhaling my scent. He wanted me as much as I wanted him, I could tell. Taking advantage of the situation I gripped Axel's manhood and began to pump it slowly while holding his gaze. I watched as his eyes flickered bright green back to their original chocolate colour. As he loosened his grip on my neck I shimmed down the bed whilst Axel remained hoovering over me. I got the remainder of my clothes on and stormed out of the room ensuring I slammed the door as I left. I needed him to reject my sister, it should have been an easy choice for him, yet I had a feeling he was conflicted with what to do. Axel wanted me yet his bloody wolf wanted her. I needed to show them both that she wasn't worth fighting over, that she would make a useless mate and Luna. There was no doubt in my mind how weak she was, you only had to look at the scars that sat on her arms to tell that. A strong-minded person wouldn't have turned to self-harm, for they would have confronted their demons. But not Athena, no she was scared of her own god damn shadow.
"It will be easy to destroy her" Jewel was just as confident as myself, so we were in agreement to what we needed to do.
The next morning, I knew what I needed to do, mum and dad were going to be busy all day helping my grandfather and Rita at the wolf embassy so they wouldn't be around to intervene. Looking out the window I spotted Athena walking in the garden, she was deep in thought so I figured now would be as good a time as any to challenge her for Axel.
"Thought you would have run away by now" I shoved her as I came up behind her.
"You need to go Vanessa; I won't let you hurt me anymore than you already have"
"Did it hurt watching Axel kiss me? He was by far the best kiss I have ever had. Did he tell you that he knew you were mates? I mean he told me not that it stopped us, we share a sexual attraction if you know what I mean" the edges of my lips curled up as I smirked at Athena.
"Yep, he wanted you that much that he was in my room last night. I had a 'very' intermate meeting with his tongue" That was all she needed to say making me see red.
I shifted without a second thought and pounced on Athena restraining her on the ground.
"You will pay with your life you stupid, useless whelp" I snarled through the mind-link as I snapped my canines just inches away from her face.
Jewel went for the kill but was stopped frozen on the spot before being flung to the side. I whipped my head around to see Axel standing there an angry bemused look on his face. Jewel began to snarl and growl at the man that stopped us from killing our competition, until we became distracted by the sounds of bones snapping only to see Athena's fragile human body replaced by a large grey and pink wolf. To say I was shocked was an understatement, as an Alphas daughter I have the ability to sense a wolf counterpart yet didn't sense anything with Athena. That could only mean one thing, her wolf was strong I just hoped mine was stronger.
Athena's POV
Venus forced the shift knowing that Vanessa's wolf wasn't going to stand down, and in human form I wouldn't have stood a chance. I had taken part in some training sessions back home as it was mandatory but not having had a wolf, I didn't know what to do. Venus assured me I had the strength in me to beat anything I set my mind to which gave me a renewed sense of hope, something I had longed for. I stood in a defence position watching as Vanessa's wolf stalked towards me, circling me like I was her prey, she was trying to intimidate me. I was terrified knowing she had more experience than me, but Venus refused to let me back down, instead she encouraged me.
"Gained your wolf then? Let's see if she's as useless as her human" Vanessa's voice filled my own as it flittered through the mind-link.
"Less talk more fight" Venus responded for me which had the both of us completely stunned.
Vanessa's white wolf was big but unfortunately for her mine was bigger. She lunged for my throat but missed as I jumped to the side, something she had clearly counted on as her claws ripped into my side. Pain radiated through me but didn't last long as I felt Venus heal us as she dodged Vanessa's next attack. I jumped onto her back biting into her shoulder, a sense of pride flowing within me as her wolf let out a high-pitched whimper. I had seen her practice in wolf form before noticing how her tactics remained the same making her every move that much more predictable. We traded blow for blow as chunks of fur and splatters of blood flew through the air, each of us trying to destroy the other.
I could feel myself becoming tired not used to using this much strength before. Having fallen to the ground Vanessa's wolf was about to pounce before Axel stepped in her way stopping her from doing any more damage. I was both relieved and pissed when he stopped her, this meant I had lost and would now look weak in his eyes. I could handle anyone else thinking I was weak and worthless hell I'd been doing it for years; I just couldn't handle my mate thinking the same thing. I shifted back thanking Venus for everything letting her get some well-deserved rest. Vanessa had also shifted back and was standing there her hands on her hips as she looked at me with disgust. I had half expected Axel to go to Vanessa's side, but he didn't, he took off his jacket and placed it over my naked body preventing anyone from seeing me. The look of pure rage on Vanessa's face at his action said all I needed to know, for now at least.
"Come on, let's get you inside" Axel offered his hand the sparks had Venus purring, Axel must have heard her as he smiled a little causing my face to heat as I blushed.
"Do you want her?" It stung just to ask the question, but I needed to know.
"It's complicated"
"It's really not. You either do or you don't. I don't want to stand back and watch my mate and sister flaunt in my face. I've been through too much already; I deserve to be happy"
Axel remained quiet until we reached my room. He walked into my bathroom and began to run the bath, once it was ready, he ordered me to get in. Axel sat on the stall next to the bath and looked at me as if trying to figure out what he wanted to say.
"My mum wants me to be with Vanessa. I want you Athena, but I can't go against her"
"What's so special about her? You were fated to me for a reason, fated to another"
"I know. My wolf told me years ago that I had two mates, a part of me hoped it would your sister"
"That's disgusting" Axel chuckled at the gag face I made.
"Hey, would have made my life easier. Did your wolf tell you why we have two mates?"
"Just that we are a guardian wolf, that to reach our full potential I needed to be mated and marked to both my mates. You haven't answered my question. Why is Vanessa so important?"
Axel just looked to the floor before bending down and pulling me into a kiss. I pushed him away, I didn't want someone that was going to be involved with my whore of a sister. A look of hurt flashed over his face causing a small pain in my heart for rejecting his advance.
"My mum believes that if Vanessa and I become chosen mates that we will produce power stronger than the moon goddess herself. Mum is not exactly the sanest woman in the world, she the high priestess of witches. Power has driven her mad as you can clearly tell"
"I think she's wrong. Before my dad accepted my mum the moon goddess visited him, she said that he and mum would produce the most powerful pup. Though my grandfather has said that because the moon goddess intervened, it changed things. So, where mum should have had a single pregnancy, she ended up with twins. Now that power has split between my sister and I and I think she just ended up with more than me"
"You're the stronger sister Athena. My wolf can sense power and we sensed it within you two years ago when I saved you from the rogues"
"But Vanessa, she said she..."
"No, it was me, she turned up as I dealt with the last one. I asked her not to tell anyone of my involvement. But I know what I felt Athena. Your essence, you in general are much stronger. I know you didn't have a wolf then; I know you've only just gotten her, but I assure you I am correct. I want you Athena, I've always wanted my fated mate. I need you to be patient, I will find a way for us to be together it will just take time"
