Hectors POV
The moment I sunk my canines into Athena, I felt all her emotions smash into me. I was too distracted by everything I was feeling to notice that she hadn't marked me back. After a minute the emotions seemed to settle down, and no wonder as when I looked at Athena, she was unconscious. I tried to wake her, but she didn't stir, her breathing was shallow and her body cold. Grabbing my T-shirt from the floor I placed it over her body as I mind-linked her dad.
I sat there is shock as Alpha Jake and Luna Angel tried to wake their daughter without success. What had gone wrong, I knew if I had been an Alpha then my mark would have knocked her out, but I wasn't, and neither was she.
"Henrik is on his way and so is the pack doctor. Hector, I need to know exactly what happened" my heart was beating frantically in my chest, I tried to speak but couldn't assemble any words. "Hector snap out of it. What the fuck happened?"
"I...I marked her I swear Alpha that's all. She asked me to I swear" Alpha Jake just sniffed the air surrounding his daughter before growling, the realisation hitting him that his daughter and I had just began the mating and marking process. Though until Athena marked me it wouldn't be complete.
"Jake focus. She's eighteen and his mate. He's a good boy he wouldn't have forced her into anything. Hector, I suggest you go to your room and wait" Luna Angel was quick to my defence, though why I wasn't sure.
"I want to remain here, this is my fault I need to know she's ok" I tried to keep strength in my voice, but it faltered as my eyes landed on Athena's peaceful face, the colour slowly draining from her skin.
Luna Angel just shook her head and commanded that I leave. Her Luna tone was something I couldn't fight against even if I wanted to. Fisting my hands my knuckles turned white before I stormed out of the pack house. There was no way I could wait in my room while Athena was possibly fighting for her life. I needed a distraction so running towards the forest line I let Bryant take control as he shifted.
We ran for miles until we reached the waterfall, Athena's father had shown her this place so she could hide out if things began to overwhelm her. I chuckled from the back of my wolfs mind remembering that her father told her she wasn't to tell anyone else about this place but of course she told me. It was this exact spot I had asked her to go steady with me. Yeh she's a year older but fuck it, age is just a number. We used to come here together and make out though as much as I wanted to take things to the next level, I knew she was saving herself for her mate. Which ironically ended up being me. Well, me and the Axel fella.
Shit Axel was he or his mum behind this. Their timing was suspicious to say the least, though if either of them were behind this it would be his mum. The moment I caught Axel's scent, something within me changed. I found myself attracted to him which made me sick. I liked women, the thought of a dick near me freaked the hell out of me. Yet I couldn't seem to get him out of my head. Whilst making love to Athena, I found myself thinking of Axel, and yes I know just how fucked up that sounds. Was I really gay? No that's the wrong word because I loved Athena. Perhaps there was always a part of me that liked the opposite sex it was just buried deep down, and I mean deep deep down.
"Hector?" My dad's voice filtered into my head; it didn't shock me for I knew it wouldn't be long until he contacted me.
"Dad I didn't do anything wrong. I would never hurt Athena"
"I know son. Henrik has said that she's ok but extremely drained. Luna Angel wants to know what Athena has told you about her wolf, it seems her wolf has put her into some kind of hibernation"
I thought back to the conversation we had a few hours ago, guardian wolf that's what she told me.
"Her wolf is a guardian wolf, but she won't reach her full potential unless marked by both mates"
"Shit, that's why she's unconscious then. Axel was her first mate and an elemental at that so I wonder if maybe he should have marked her first"
"Why should that matter dad I don't understand? We are both her mates surely either of us could do it"
"I don't know son, but I will keep you updated"
Never had I heard of someone falling unconscious by being marked in the incorrect order. Though hell until tonight I didn't know it was possible to have two mates. I couldn't sit and do nothing it was killing me. If anyone was going to know what was going on it would be Axel, I needed to contact him.
Knowing the Alpha and Luna would remain with Athena until she woke, I took the opportunity to get into the Alphas office. He had a list with contact details for every Alpha in case of emergencies. Finding the number for the Gemstone pack I scribbled it on a scrap piece of paper and stuffing it into my pocket. Once back in my room I dialled the number only for an omega to answer. She told me that the Alpha was away on business so asking to speak to Axel she gave me his private number. Thanking her before hanging up I called Axels number, butterflies were fluttering through my stomach as his voice came through the phone.
"Axel speaking" fuck that voice was sexy, what the hell is wrong with me I thought to myself.
"It's Hector from Moonlight Pack, it's about Athena"
"What's happened, I felt a cold wave earlier is she ok?" His tone sounded worried which told me he didn't have anything to do with it meaning my dad was probably right that it was her wolfs doing.
"I marked her and she fell unconscious, we can't wake her, and it looks as though she's slipping away" Axel just growled down the phone which sent a shiver up my spine.
"I'm on my way"
Axel's POV
My wolf had been snarling in my head ever since I agreed to Hector and Athena marking each other in the Lunas office. He wanted to be the one to mate her first as she belonged to us before Hector, but with what I had done and the hurt I had caused, I didn't deserve that right. Hector was already her boyfriend I knew that so it made sense for them to complete their end of the bond, one which I could hopefully complete when the time was right.
Hector was handsome, he was tall, in great shape and for someone with beta blood he held a strong aura. Having left my room at the pack house I went into my mother's library knowing she was asleep. She didn't like anyone entering this room without her present but thought tough shit for her. Going through her shelves until I found the book I needed, I sat at her desk and flipped through the pages only stopping when i found the page on guardian wolves.
'A guardian wolf is a rare breed created by the moon goddess. This particular breed is only gifted to those with a blood connection to the goddess herself. Powerful as they are and beautiful with their unique markings, they were once hunted for their power. If controlled by the wrong entity, then have the power to create untold havoc. The moon goddess decreed that of future guardians were ever born that they would be fated to two mates. One being an elemental and the other a silver wolf. Ideally the guardian wolf should be marked with identical timing to that of both mates. Should this not happen the strength is zapped from the guardian until remarked'
So, it is our fault I thought to myself. Knowing Hector wouldn't believe me I took the book from the library with me.
"Thor did you know this would happen?"
"Yes, but I wasn't able to say. Being an elemental, we keep our memories from our previous lives under the condition of keeping this to ourselves. Had I told you if after your time has ended and I am resent to another human counterpart I wouldn't know anything about myself or my fate" my wolf had never been one to keep secrets from me, so I knew he was speaking truthfully.
Arriving at the bored you the Moonlight Pack I spotted a large brown wolf immediately knowing by its scent it was Hector. What confused me though was his colour. The book said the second mate was a silver wolf and he clearly wasn't.
"His coat will change when marked by us" Thor spoke sensing my confusion.
Hector shifted back into his human form the sight instantly made me hard. My shorts were baggy giving away how turned on I was at seeing him. Pushing the dirty thoughts to the back of my mind I handed Hector a spare pair of shorts from the boot of my car allowing him to put them on before showing him the book I found.
"Remarked? Does that mean I need to mark her again?" Hector was confused though I don't think he had read the page properly as he didn't even register the silver wolf part.
"Hector, I think you need to be a silver wolf before you can remark her"
"I'm not silver my wolf is brown" A look of conflation spread over his face.
"According to my wolf l, me marking you will unlock your wolves' gift. Until then you will remain an ordinary wolf"
"Surely there's another way... there has to be" Hectors voice softened as he fell back against my car.
Feeling the need to comfort him I stepped closer placing my hand on the side of his face. Sparks burning my skin as it reacted with my elemental power. A fire was burning within me needing to be released but unable to unless Hector accepted me. My cock was painful in my shorts the longer I was in his presence. Not only was it his scent but Athena's scent was all over him and was driving me and my wolf wild.
I lowered my hand to Hectors chin tilting his head up to face me. His lips mere centimetres away from me just calling for me to taste them. His eyes remained shut clearly trying to register the information or was he trying to suppress any feeling he felt towards me. Slowly I closed the gap between us gently pecking his lips with mine. Hector responded by deepening the kiss until his eyes shot open reality setting in at what was happening as he pulled away. He was at war with himself. The bulge that had grown in his shorts gave that away. He wanted it, wanted me but didn't want to admit to himself that a part of him longed for a man not only a woman. He was confused, it was obvious this was his first time in the embrace of a man, and he wasn't sure how to feel about it.
"What the fuck man" he pushed me away as he wiped his mouth on his arm.
"Hector it's normal to feel confused. I've had years to come to terms with who I am. You will too, and I'm going to bet you already want me" he followed my gaze to his hardened bulge.
Without saying a word, I watched as his eyes turned black showing his wolf had come forward. Hector stalked towards me pulling me close smashing his lips back into mine. I knew I should have pulled away; this was his wolfs advances not Hectors but I just couldn't get enough. His wolf wasn't as in denial as his human. The force of his tongue made my cock twitch as it fought for dominance. As quick as the kiss came, it ended just as abruptly.
"I'm sorry... I don't know what's happening to me" Hector stepped away from me before running back in the direction of the pack house.
