Goodbye, My Mate

Chapter 68

Ch. 68 / 291 Aug 06, 2025

Leah's POV

Stop it. Make it stop! I struggled, trying to push Lucas away. But he was like a mad beast, pushing himself against me.

I didn't want to use Lycan force, because I knew it would injure him. But at the same time, I knew I had to do something to stop him from attacking me like this.

Just when he was about to enter me, the weight on my body was lifted.

I looked up in a panic and saw Finn pressing Lucas against the wall, choking on his neck.

As I watched the scene unfold before me, I couldn't help but feel a chill running down my spine.

Finn wasn't like the weak, sensitive young man I had known before.

In fact, he wasn't like any other I had encountered before.

He was wild, and deranged, with eyes that burned with an intense, almost insane, fury. His movements were erratic, his limbs flailing as he tried to grasp Lucas' neck in a deathly grip.

Finn's face was contorted with rage, his mouth twisted into a grotesque snarl as he lunged forward.

"Leave. Leah. Alone!" He roared word by word.

I petrified.

I recognized Finn's force. It was Lycan's force!

Finn's victim, terrified and bewildered Lucas, struggled to break free. His eyes were wide with fear as he fought for his life. I could see the veins in his neck bulging with effort, his entire body tense with the effort of trying to strangle the other man. It was a primal, savage act, a throwback to a time before civilization had tempered our most basic instincts. It was a scene straight out of a nightmare, with Finn's ragged breaths and frenzied movements creating an eerie soundtrack to the violence unfolding before me.

"Finn, stop!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.

But it seemed that Finn didn't hear me.

The air was thick with tension as if every fiber of the universe was holding its breath, waiting to see what would happen next. At that moment, I knew I had to do something before Finn took away Lucas' life. But I didn't know what I should do. Finn was beyond logic, beyond reason. He was consumed by his own madness that had taken hold of him completely. And so I stood there, frozen, as the two men struggled on, their fates hanging in balance.

At that time, the wolf inside me surfaced. Before I realized what happened, I had already shifted into a wolf and jumped at Finn.

"I said stop!" My wolf snarled, pressing her paws into Finn's back.

Finn's body was impacted by my Lycan force. He flinched in pain and immediately curled up on the floor, shifting into a giant, white wolf.

He was bleeding, trying to reduce himself to a minimum, but it was too painful for him to do so. So he just curled up on the floor and started shivering, whimpering in fear.

At that time, Jorah rushed into the room and held Lucas up in his arms.

Lucas was unconscious, but he was still breathing.

Jorah saw blood on Finn's paws and became furious. He kicked him violently and shouted, "What the fuck have you done to my Alpha?!"

Finn looked completely disoriented, withdrawing to the corner of the room, shivering like a sift.

I jumped in front of Finn and blocked him from Jorah.

"Leave him alone! Lucas hurt himself and broke his neck. You need to take him to his physician Dr. Eliant Jafar right now before it's too late," my wolf hissed.

Jorah carried Lucas up in his arms and said, "Seriously, Leah. I've had enough of this. Could you please control yourself? I'm being judgemental here, but it seems your boyfriends just keep popping up like whacking-a-mole. What Lucas has ever done to you except try to make you happy and take you back? Could you please at least think about him next time you're hanging out with another man? He's still your husband."

He was trying to rape me. I thought to myself. But I didn't say it aloud.

I knew Jorah had always looked up to Lucas. He wasn't just like a boss to him. He worshiped Lucas like he was " god. I didn't want to ruin it for him. He was a nice person. A bit clumsy sometimes, but nice. The most important thing was, while everyone was trying to bully me in Lucas' house, he had always been on my side, trying to protect me. I just couldn't possibly be mean to someone who was kind to me.

"Have you done with your castigation? Could you please take Lucas away now?" I asked.

Jorah gave me a dark look and walked away in a hurry.

People started rushing into the room, looking for me. I carefully pulled a pile of gauze to cover me and Finn.

He was terrified and confused, but he didn't dare to make a sound.

In order to calm him down, I pressed my body against him while licking the wound on his back.

I knew he was in pain, but he didn't dare to flinch back. He just lay there on his stomach, letting me lick his wound.

"I'm sorry to hurt you, Finn. I shouldn't have done it. I know you were just trying to protect me." I whispered while stroking my snout around his ear.

His ear flickered and he placed his giant head on his paws. His body wasn't shivering anymore. He looked exhausted.

I put my head on his back, carefully avoiding his wounds, which were slowly closing.

His back was rising and falling along with his breaths. I strained my ear to hear the sound of his heartbeat, which was so hypnotizing that it covered the chaos outside the gauze.

"I'm sorry, Leah," Finn looked up at me and poked his snout at me. "It's all my fault."

"No, Finn. It's my fault. I was trying to reason with a beast and my stupidity got you hurt," I said with remorse tears circulating in my eyes.

Finn didn't say anything. He wrapped his tail around me and pulled me closer to his body. My body immediately disappeared among his fluffy black fur.

I lifted my head to look at him and he was looking down into my eyes.

"May I kiss you before someone finds us?" I asked. His wolf looked so fluffy and cute. My wolf was head over heels for him.

He gazed into my eyes, hesitated for a brief moment, and replied in a whisper, "Yes, please."

And in that moment, I knew that I was hopelessly falling for him. His gaze had captured my heart in a way that I had never experienced before. It was a feeling that filled me with both joy and trepidation, knowing that the intensity of our connection could lead to something incredible...

Or something heartbreaking.
