Chapter 265

Ch. 265 / 281 Apr 07, 2026

"Malcolm, are you kidding?" Sergio looked at Malcolm in disbelief.

Malcolm frowned and glared at Sergio. He thought it seemed to be wrong to tell Sergio these things.

"If you don't believe me, you can leave now!"

With that, Malcolm sipped beer.

Sergio became serious. He knew Malcolm would never joke about that.

Sergio lowered his head and looked at the beer on the table. He then also picked up a glass of beer. He drank half of it. The alcohol cleared his mind.

After finishing a glass of beer, Sergio had one more.

He smiled at Malcolm. "Congratulations, Malcolm!"

Malcolm held the beer in his hand and leaned against the sofa. He looked at Sergio with a smile. "Thank you!"

Sergio said, "I know you will never lie to me!"

Malcolm said, "Of course, my friend!"

They smiled at each other and drank another mouthful of beer.

The lights shone on their faces, making them look more handsome.

Sometimes alcohol could make a man more charming.

Malcolm knew why he drank. And he would not drink himself into oblivion.

His life experiences helped him realize it was a fickle world.

Unlike Julian, Sergio, and Terence, they grew up in happy families. They only knew to numb themselves with alcohol when they were unhappy!

Malcolm always knew what he wanted from drinking.

Malcolm said, "Sergio, don't tell anyone about this first, especially Terence."

Sergio nodded. "I know!"

Sergio smiled and looked at Malcolm with envy. After a while, he said, "Malcolm, I have never been envious of anyone. But I am envious of you now!"

Malcolm laughed out loud. He knew that Sergio would envy him.

Malcolm was shocked and happy when he found out he had three children. He thought he must be the happiest man in the world.

When Sergio saw this, he could not help but laugh as well. "You lucky dog! Wipe that smirk off your face."

Malcolm raised his eyebrows and said, "I can't control myself. After all, I have three outstanding children now."

Malcolm then paused for a while. After that, he continued, "Sergio, I now believe that all the things we lost will return in another way!"

Sergio said, "Maybe you are right. Congratulations on getting back your love.

"I've read a sentence in a book that is similar to your words. 'All the pain will pass, and all the loss will come back in another way."

"Fate's a funny thing.

"And the pain will be cured one day. Just like you and Marilyn, you two meet again!"

Malcolm nodded and looked at Sergio with sorry.

He whispered, "Hope Sergio meets a better girl soon."

Malcolm knew Sergio was in a bad mood these days. Thus, he chose today to tell him these things.

Malcolm said, "Sergio, I don't think this is fate. When you meet someone you like, you will never give her up. It is persistence."

Sergio smiled bitterly. "Malcolm, you are wrong. I don't have your experience. And I won't be persistent with someone. I want to meet a girl that we love each other!"

Malcolm said with sarcasm, "Sergio, everyone wants that!"

"So, Marilyn doesn't know you are the man she met that year." Sergio changed the topic, and his tone became serious.

"Yes!" Malcolm said.

Malcolm took another sip of beer and lowered his eyes. And it made people unable to know his mood.

Sergio did not speak and waited for him to speak.

"Sergio, I have my plan. Lynn has no memory of her childhood. She has forgotten everything.

"Thus, I want to tell her about what happened seven years ago after she gets back her memory."

Sergio found Malcolm didn't look upset and then realized Malcolm must have planned everything well.

"Malcolm, you've planned everything well, haven't you? And you plan to go to Summerford with Marilyn. Right?"

"Yes, you are right!" Malcolm nodded. Malcolm then remembered how happy he was when he stayed with Marilyn in Summerford.

Malcolm leaned back on the sofa and began to imagine what would happen between Marilyn and him in the future with expectation.

Sergio felt a little at ease.

He looked as calm as before. He seemed to accept the fact that Malcolm got together with Marilyn.

Malcolm noticed that and felt relieved.

"Sergio, thank you!" It was the first time that Malcolm said so to Sergio.

Sergio looked at Malcolm calmly. He pursed his lips and blinked before saying, "Malcolm, because it's you! Otherwise, I won't give Marilyn up."

Malcolm smiled. "That's why I thanked you!"

Sergio got up and looked down at Malcolm. "I have to go back. Otherwise, my mother will be worried."

After saying that, Sergio walked out. Malcolm did not stop him this time.

Instead, he watched him leave quietly.

After that, Malcolm took out his phone and found its power was off. Then he frowned and got up to get the charger.

Laverne fell asleep in the car. Thus, Marilyn carried her to her room as soon as they returned home. When Marilyn came out of Laverne's room, Denise also came back.

Marilyn told Denise and Elvira what had happened.

Elvira blamed herself for that. She thought it was all because of her. Otherwise, Laverne would not get hurt.

Marilyn noticed that. She smiled at Elvira, "Elvira, Laverne is fine now. It was an accident. And everything is fine now. By the way, Margie is in jail now. She has no chance to do so again!"

Marilyn said that to comfort Elvira. But she couldn't persuade herself with that. She still felt uneasy about what had happened to Laverne.

Elvira nodded and said, "Lynn, Margie deserves it. We human beings should be kind and should not do immoral things. If everyone behaves like you, our world will be better."

Marilyn smiled and said nothing.
