SEPTEMBER'S POV
" Favorite color?" I asked, smiling.
" Color?" He blurted out in distaste.
" Yes, color." I repeated.
He made a face and then gestured me to skip the question. I clenched my jaw and took another sip of coffee which he had made for me.
This is not done.
We have decided after my enormous request, if I may add that I'll ask him questions and he'll answer me because I couldn't live with a stranger. Nope, never.
But he's been irritating here. I've asked him few questions and all he did was to skip them, mercilessly.
" You've to answer me, idiot." I scolded.
" Idiot?" He narrowed his eyes.
Shoot.
I licked my lips and shrugged.
Err...my tongue slipped but I am not the one at fault, he should answer me.
" That's such a cute nickname." I laughed, nervously.
He nodded without giving me any look.
Jesus! What's with him and his love for expressionless looks?
" You're not color blind, are you?" I tried to ease up the situation.
He rolled his eyes and cracked a little laugh, very little though.
Smiling at his antiques, I looked up in the sky. Stars were shining bright. Cool breeze touched my face and everything felt calm and soothing.
His balcony was beautiful. And with him being in front of me, I've got no words to describe my feeling. Maybe warm and gentle.
" You know, I don't like colors." He scratched the back of his neck.
I shifted my attention to his eyes.
" Why?"
" They are f*cking bright. Too bright for my liking." He scoffed.
Well. He's a kid.
" There are some colors which are dark too, if you don't know."
The corner of his lips twitched to give a strange smile which I didn't liked. It was dark and off course anything but sweet.
" Black."
Really?
I blew out air and nodded. But there must be some other color too, right?
Black color couldn't be his all time favourite. I mean when children are young, they like bright colors. Maybe old zach likes black but little zach doesn't right? Okay, he's not old but ugh, I need some short of example to prove my point.
" Imagine."
" Huh?"
" Just imagine what I am saying."
" Uh..Okay."
" You're with me in a plain room." I said.
" Done." He offered me his big smile.
I blushed.
" We are going to paint the walls, which color will you choose?" I asked, straight to the point.
I crossed my fingers and hoped that he'll not say black otherwise my whole theory will run vain.
" Sky blue." He blurted the second next.
I looked at my crossed fingers and then at him. Perfect.
Throwing a huge smile, I winked. "Your favorite color is blue."
I thought that he might deny but his face remained unchanged. He was still smiling.
Should I pinch myself?
Hush, September. Stop being immature.
" You're the light and I won't ever bring darkness near you." He whispered, staring at the stars.
My jaw dropped in shock and trust me it wouldn't be a lie, if I say that I literally had a goosebumps.
H..How can he say something like this? I-I mean he's my husband but I don't know him.
And I don't want to feel this warm sensation inside my stomach.
But does he meant his words?
Fuck everything. Right now, I should focus on me asking questions and he replying to them.
" Favorite flower?" I asked the first thing which came to my mind without paying any attention to it.
He gave me very, I repeat very unpleasant look.
Uh.. okay.
" You're immature, you know that." He laughed.
I scoffed. Okay it was not that immature.
Flowers are cute.
Right. I agree I am little immature.
" Okay, so tell me what's your favorite movie?" I asked, smiling.
He shrugged his shoulder. " I've never seen any movie but you know I had thing for cartoons."
Really? Zach and cartoon? Quite unbelievable though.
" So your favorite? Doraemon? Or is it Sponge bob square pants?" I asked, suddenly grinning from ear to ear.
This conversation is going to be fun.
" I never said that I watch cartoons now. It was long back." He clicked his tongue to clear my confusion.
" When?"
" When I was a kid." He exhaled.
Oh.
" That's interesting." I smiled.
" Tom and Jerry, I liked that cartoon." He stated.
To my periphery, I found him rubbing his fingers together.
Is he nervous or what?
" So are you the Tom person or Jerry?" I tried to make him comfortable.
" Obviously Jerry." He replied the second next.
My lips curled up in a huge smile and I did a happy dance, mentally.
He's cute.
" I thought you'd say Tom." I teased.
" Well, surprise." He smiled back.
Next, we looked at each other still smiling. And for a minute, I forgot everything. It was as if the person in front of me was everything I can ever wish for even if he might seems stranger to me.
Strange, right?
I know very well that I don't know him but still it feels like I know him since, forever.
He cleared his throat and averted his gaze away from me.
" I..I.." He shuttered.
Holy shit. He's blushing.
My heart started thumping louder. Woah! I guess I need another cup of caffeine.
I grabbed his cup of coffee and started sipping.
" If given a chance, would you fly or be invisible?" I asked another question.
He cracked a nervous laugh and scratched the back of his head.
" Not either."
" Then?"
I whispered, dejected.
Okay, I guess I can't.
Maybe he doesn't want this stupid question and answer game.
But he arranged this balcony setup under the sky full of stars and said that I can ask him whatever then why he's not cooperating?
I frowned.
And he also made world's best coffee for me.
I had an instant urge to cry.
" Hey." He said, softly and creased the skin of my cheeks with his rough finger.
I closed my eyes and held my breath.
" I'd rather dance with you." He added, as gently as he can.
And that was enough for my heart to skip a beat.
Slowly, I opened my eyes and stared at him.
Since when I started getting this warm feeling in my stomach?
What the hell is happening with me? Am I going insane or what?
Possibly.
He went to his knees and asked me for the dance. I gulped the saliva down my throat and hesitantly, placed my palm on his. Am I dreaming? Because this all seems too good to be true.
I get up and he put on some romantic music to which I turned all shades of red. It isn't like I am shy or else but his presence is kind of intimidating. He is my husband. Yes, now I believe that he's my husband. But apart from this smooth warm feeling, deep down I might be scared. Maybe, he's prefect but what if someday, he'll leave me?
Oh hush, September.
Don't spoil the moment by thinking crap. Right now, feel the every moment in your nerves with your husband who's anything but sweet.
He passed me his charm smile and wrapped his arms around my waist. A current like sensation passed through my body but without wasting any another second, I entangled my arms around his neck.
Everything went still.
His deep blue eyes were staring into mine, deep and intense. His breath touched my flesh, warm and passionate.
I blinked when he passed me another smile revealing his dimple.
I found a love for me
Darling just dive right in
And follow my lead
Well I found a girl beautiful and sweet
I never knew you were the someone waiting for me.
I flushed at the lyrics and placed my head on his shoulder.
The melodic sound of his chuckle ran through my ears and my heart decided to skip his another beat.
Baby, I'm dancing in the dark, with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song
I have faith in what I see
Now I know I have met an angel in person
And she looks perfect
I don't deserve this
You look perfect tonight.
" I've really met an Angel in person."
He whispered softly.
My breath caught up in my throat and I just smiled, a real smile.
In this moment, everything seems perfect.
I danced with him, forgetting everything all at once.
I've made a new memory today, beautiful and unbelievable.
" Thank you." I said.
" No. Thank you." He said.
" For what?"
" For giving me this warm feeling inside my chest." He replied, I instantly.
I bite my lips to hide my smile but failed miserably. " That's called heart, you know."
" Yeah, right." He chuckled, nervously.
Thank you Zach for being my reason to smile.
