SEPTEMBER'S POV

" Open your eyes, September." A faded voice came through my ears and as said, I parted my eyelids. Everything was blur for a minute before I saw a man examining my face in white coat. He must be doctor, I guess. But what happened to me?

" How are you feeling?" He asked.

I knitted my eyebrows and shifted my attention to my body. Nothing, I felt nothing. It was as if I was numb. "I don't know." I replied.

" Would you like to meet your husband?" He asked, further.

Husband? I am married? To whom? How? When? Why can't I remember anything?

I blinked, once, twice, thrice and then it hit me. Who I am? What's my name? What I am doing on the hospital bed?

Suffocation started building up in my chest and my lungs started to crave for more oxygen before doctor put the oxygen mask over my mouth.

" Calm down." He whispered.

I closed my eyes and tried to relax but all in vain. I tried hard to remember something but once again, it was only in vain. My mind was blank. The only memory I have was of few minutes before.

" Don't stress yourself. I am sending Mr. Wilson to you." He smiled, politely and left.

Mr. Wilson? Now who's he?

Tears started forming in my eyes but before I could release them, the door flew open and I stilled in surprise.

There enters a man.

He was mesmerizing. Straight jaw line, plum lips, ocean blue eyes.

He came closer to me without maintaining an eye contact and sat on the chair.

" I...I..September, I am..S..Sorry." He stammered.

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion and looked up to him.

Who's he? And why he's sorry?

I closed my eyes for a second and removed the oxygen mask from my mouth. I licked my dry lips and tried to let out some words.

" W-Who are you?" I questioned.

His eyes made an contact with mine. Tears were visible in them and I guess he was trying his best to not let out his tears. His eyes were reflecting pain.

" I..I am your husband." He whispered, almost regretting what he just said.

Husband?

I froze.

But I don't know him. I don't know anything.

When I was married? How was I married and if he's really my husband then why can't I remember him?

" You met a car accident. You have a post traumatic amnesia." He added.

I nodded, trying not to release my tears in front of him.

Suddenly everything became more uncomfortable. This man was practically a stranger to me but at the same time I have to accept the fact that he's my husband.

He took my IV connected hand in between his rough hand. His fingers were shaking for unknown reason and then he started rubbing his thumb over my skin.

It felt relieving.

I rolled my lips inside my mouth and looked at his hand.

He's really my husband?

" You were in induced coma since last two days." He said, trying to built up a conversation.

I nodded, once again.

" I don't want to stay on this hospital bed. Please take me away from here."

I exhaled a breath.

He smiled but his smile was almost pale and broken.

I tried to smile back but failed, miserably.

***

I chewed on my inner cheeks in anticipation and stared at the ceiling.

I don't remember anything. Not even my name. Well now I know that my name is September Wilson but still.

I need answers to my unasked questions. But I am scared to ask. I don't want to face the reality. Maybe I am scared to accept the fact that I am married.

All I know is I had an accident and now I am married to a man about whom I am completely oblivious.

Was I happily married to him? What about my family? My carrier? My friends?

Who will answer me?

" September." A familiar yet unfamiliar voice came to me.

I averted my eyes only to find him walking to me with a tray in his hand.

I started getting nervous and clenched the bedsheets in between my fingers.

He put the tray on side table and passed a weak smile to me. I didn't respond to his gesture but looked at him, anyways.

He sat on the corner of bed and made my shoulders to lean on bedpost. His touch ignited something unusual in my belly but I decided to ignore it.

" I don't want to eat anything." I said as soon as he took the tray again in his hand.

" You will." He smiled.

His smile was kind of cute. And I so wanted to pinch his cheeks but he's a stranger.

Great logic, September.

" What's your name?" I asked, randomly.

I want to know his name. This is the least I should know about him.

He lips quiver for a second before his tongue rolled out his name. " Zach."

Okay.

" So...?" I tried to say something but nothing came out.

" Open your mouth." He brought the spoon to to my mouth.

I gulped the soup. It tasted edible.

" You want to ask something, don't you?" He whispered, reluctantly.

Bless this man.

My lips curled up in a genuine smile.

" Will you?" I arched my eyebrows.

" I will answer your every question."

" Are you really my husband?" I asked the first thing which came into my mind.

I may not remember anything but I should do some investigations.

" I am." He replied.

His tone was plain and for some unknown reason, it felt little odd.

Maybe he never wanted to marry me but some consequences had made him do so. Maybe we didn't have happy marriage. Maybe we were more like strangers than husband and wife. Maybe he had an extra marital affair, maybe I had. Maybe. Possibilities are enormous and here I have no clue about them.

I started tapping my fingers and exhaled a slow breath. Why I am feeling this strange discomfort with him?

I should feel comfortable with him, if I am married to him and if it wasn't a fairytale marriage then why he's taking care of me? If he hates me then why his expressions are different?

Relax.

Should I ask him?

" You were happy with me?" I exhaled.

" We were happily married." He blurted out.

Uh...Okay?

His tone was telling me a different story like he was lying.

But why would he?

" We met in college and since then we are together. Later we decided to take our relationship a step further so we married each other. We have adopted a daughter and her name is Claire."

He made me drink water after his words and then once again, continued.

"I know you don't remember anything and you must have thousands of questions to ask but right now, your brain and body needs proper rest. Please don't stress yourself, I will tell you everything. Just remember one thing that I will always be there, when you'll need me, okay?"

He smiled.

I bite on my lips to hide my smile but failed, miserably and end up smiling, wholeheartedly.

Something about his words made me feel safe. And at this moment, I know that I have a new memory to remember.

I guess, he will make everything alright.

" Okay." I chirped.

Without any other word, he made me gulp down my medicines.

" Can I meet her?" I flushed.

He arched up his eyebrows in confusion and waited for me to elaborate further.

" Claire." This time, I flushed even more than before.

I have a daughter.

Woah! I mean this is quite surprising. It would be exciting to meet her.

" Sure, why not." He smiled, more brightly making my heart to beat a little louder.

" But I don't remember her." I frowned.

I mean I have a daughter but I don't know anything about her. Pathetic, right?

" I will tell you everything about her."

He shrugged.

I blinked in happiness and waited impatiently for his reaction. He resisted his smile and creased my cheeks. I closed my eyes in content and felt his lips touching my forehead.

" Take care." He whispered.

Butterflies burst into my belly and some strange emotion came to me and that's when he left the room.

I stared at the door before having an instant urge to bang my head on the wall.

Damn.

That man, Zach is practically an unknown person; a stranger and here I was going all mushy over his forehead kiss.

But you felt something when he kissed.

Shut up, September.

I guess, I should learn more about my unknown husband before smiling every second at his cute actions.
