Thalia's POV
The hall and wolves around me are carrying whispers and speculation like poison through the pack. Three days until my mate and his brother tear each other apart. Three days of waiting while the tension builds to something none of us will survive.
My children's fathers, preparing to destroy each other over me.
The thought breaks something inside me that I didn't know was still holding together.
"Stop." The word tears from my throat before I can think, before I can calculate the consequences. "Both of you, stop."
Kieran and Lysander freeze mid-step, turning to face me. The wolves stumble, drawn back by the desperation in my voice.
My white wolf blazes to the surface with a power I've never consciously summoned. I feel her rise like a tide, feel my eyes shift to silver, feel the authority of what I am flow through every cell in my body. Not just Luna. Something older, stronger, more primal than the politics and laws that have been wielded against me.
"You want to fight over me like I'm territory to be claimed?" My voice carries through the hall with Luna authority that makes wolves bow their heads. "To bleed for the right to own what was never yours to possess?"
"Thalia—" Kieran starts.
"No." I step into the center of the hall, position myself between the two men who have shaped my entire adult life. "I am done being silent. Done letting this pack interpret my quiet as consent to whatever narrative serves their comfort."
The wolves watch me with a mixture of awe and wariness, uncertain what to make of the Luna who has always been measured and careful now radiating raw supernatural power.
"You want the truth?" I look at the assembled witnesses—elders who handed me ancient laws like threats, wolves who whispered about my divided loyalties, the father who sees his sons as chess pieces rather than people. "Then hear it. All of it."
My hands tremble at my sides but my voice stays steady. "I love Kieran. My mate. The man destiny chose for me before I had any say in the matter. The bond between us is real and powerful and I have never questioned its existence."
Kieran's expression shifts, hope and fear warring across his features. But I'm not finished.
"And I love Lysander." The words drop into the silence like stones into still water. "He was not chosen for me by fate or supernatural law. My heart chose him, in moments when I felt invisible and he made me feel seen."
Gasps echo through the hall. Wolves recoil from my honesty as if the words themselves carry contagion. Elder Margaret's face contorts with horror. Marcus looks away, unable to meet my eyes.
I stand unbowed. There is no taking these words back, and I find I don't want to.
"I did not choose this." My voice rings clear and strong. "I did not ask for a mate bond that claimed me before I understood what it meant. I did not ask to develop feelings for another man while bound to his brother. I did not ask to be the pivot point on which this pack's stability supposedly depends."
I turn slowly, letting every wolf see my face, my conviction, the truth I've been too afraid to speak until now.
"But I will not lie about it. Not anymore. Not to save the pack from discomfort or preserve a hierarchy built on controlling what women are allowed to feel."
"Thalia, you don't understand what you're doing." Magnus's voice cuts through, sharp with warning. "These words cannot be unsaid. The consequences—"
"I understand perfectly." I meet his eyes without flinching. "I'm refusing to let your ancient laws cage my heart. I'm refusing to perform certainty I don't feel so your pack can sleep better at night."
Behind me, I hear the crack and pop of bones reshaping. Both brothers are shifting, their wolves responding to the emotional intensity flooding the hall. When I turn, two massive wolves face me—Kieran's dark form bristling with tension, Lysander's lighter wolf equally coiled.
They watch me with eyes that burn gold, waiting for whatever comes next. Waiting for the final words that will determine everything.
"You want me to choose?" I address them both, human and wolf at once. "To stand here and declare which of you owns my heart completely, forever, while the pack witnesses and judges?"
Neither wolf moves. Neither makes a sound.
"I can't." The admission costs me everything and nothing at once. "Because the truth is more complicated than your ancient laws allow. The truth is that love doesn't follow the rules you've built to contain it."
I move closer to them, close enough to touch if I wanted. My wolf doesn't cower from their predatory forms—she rises to meet them, equal in power if different in size.
"Kieran, you are my mate. The bond we share is real and I don't want to break it. You're the father of my children, the Alpha who searched for me for years, the man who has tried—imperfectly, painfully—to become what I need."
His wolf makes a low sound, something between a whine and a growl.
"And Lysander." I turn to face the lighter wolf. "You made me feel like a person instead of a role. I cannot pretend those feelings don't exist just because they're inconvenient."
His wolf steps closer, close enough that his breath warms my skin.
"So if you're going to fight in three days, know this." I straighten my spine, let my white wolf shine through my eyes. "Whatever happens between you, I will not be the prize. I am not territory to be won. I am a woman who loves two men and refuses to be ashamed of it anymore."
The hall is utterly silent. Every wolf present understands that something fundamental has shifted—Luna has declared herself openly, fractured the balance they depended on, spoken truths that pack law never prepared them to hear.
"The choice of what happens next isn't mine alone." I step back from both wolves. "It belongs to all of us. Both of you. Whether you can find a way forward that doesn't require blood and submission, or whether you'll destroy each other and everything we've built trying to prove ownership of something that was never owned."
Both wolves watch me, still and silent, processing the confession that changes everything.
I've broken the rules. Shattered the pretense. Spoken aloud what pack law insists should never be acknowledged. Standing here in the wreckage of their expectations, I feel more like myself than I have in years.
The pack will judge me. The elders will condemn me. The ancient laws will demand consequences I can barely imagine.
But at least now they're judging the real me.
Not the Luna who performed certainty or the mate who suppressed her truth. But Thalia, standing unbowed in the center of a storm she finally stopped trying to control.
