Who's My Triplet's Alpha Daddy?

Chapter 48

Ch. 48 / 245 Apr 30, 2026

Kieran's POV

Rage burns through me like wildfire.

Lysander's words echo in the silent hall—every accusation, every challenge, every truth I didn't want to hear spoken aloud in front of my entire pack. My brother stands there radiating confidence I've never seen from him, demanding my mate choose between us like he has any right to force that moment.

I force myself to stay still. Every eye watches me, measuring my response, calculating whether the Alpha they've followed will crumble under this public assault. My wolf strains against my control, demanding I tear out Lysander's throat for this humiliation.

But I hold. Barely.

"You've said your piece." My voice comes out harder than I intend, rough with suppressed violence. "Now step back before you say something that can't be taken back."

Before I can close the distance, before my control shatters completely, a voice cuts through the tension like a blade.

"Enough."

My father steps forward from the edge of the gathering, his authority rolling through the hall with the weight of decades. Alpha Magnus Fenris, the man who built this pack into what it is, who trained both his sons for leadership, who has watched this confrontation unfold with calculating silence.

"This challenge is improper and will not proceed." His voice brooks no argument. "Kieran is the rightful Alpha heir by blood, by training, by established succession. The pack will obey the hierarchy that has maintained our strength for generations."

The words should bring relief. My father defending my position, affirming my claim, shutting down Lysander's challenge with absolute authority.

Instead, humiliation floods through me.

I didn't need to be defended, didn't need my father stepping in like I couldn't handle my own brother's challenge. The pack will remember this—not that I held my ground, but that Magnus had to intervene before things went too far.

"With respect, Father." Lysander's voice carries an edge I've never heard from him. "The succession rules you cite are tradition, not immutable law. They can be challenged when circumstances warrant."

"And what circumstances would those be?" Magnus moves closer, positioning himself between his sons. "Your brother's mate wavering? Personal feelings interfering with pack structure?"

"His inability to lead effectively while his household fractures around him." Lysander doesn't back down, even facing our father's displeasure. "The children are suffering, and Luna is questioning her bond. The pack sensing instability they can't name but certainly feel."

"Those are family matters." Magnus's voice drops to something dangerous. "Not grounds for succession challenge."

"They become so when the family's dysfunction threatens pack security." Lysander gestures to the assembled wolves, many of whom watch with expressions that confirm his words. "Look at them, Father. They're not certain anymore. They're watching both of us, wondering who will actually lead them through whatever comes next."

The pack's reaction confirms what Lysander claims. I see it in their faces—the uncertainty, the calculation, the divided loyalties that shouldn't exist. Wolves who have served my family for decades now weighing which brother deserves their allegiance.

My father's intervention hasn't restored confidence. It's revealed weakness.

Something feral ignites inside me.

"You want them to choose?" I step around my father, close the distance to Lysander. "You want to force this confrontation right here, right now?"

"I want honesty." Lysander meets me without flinching. "Something this family has been avoiding for far too long."

"Then let's be honest." I feel my wolf rising, feel the shift pulling at my bones. "You've wanted what's mine since we were children. My position, my authority, my mate. You played the comfortable brother, the safe option, waiting for an opportunity to take everything I've built."

"I never wanted to take anything." His voice stays steady even as his own wolf rises, gold bleeding into his eyes. "I wanted to earn what you assumed was yours by birthright. There's a difference."

"Is there?" I circle him slowly, aware of every wolf watching, every breath held. "You slept with my mate. You've been undermining my authority for weeks. Now you're challenging me for the pack itself. How is that not taking?"

"Thalia chose to be with me." The words land like physical blows. "She came to me because you couldn't see her. Couldn't hear her. Couldn't be what she needed."

"She's my mate!" The snarl rips from my throat. "The bond chose us. Nothing you did changes that fundamental truth."

"The bond chose her body." Lysander's voice drops, goes rough. "Her heart chose me."

The shift hits us both at the same moment.

I feel it in my muscles tightening, my bones aching to reshape, my wolf demanding release. Across from me, Lysander's body coils with the same violent tension, the same barely leashed need for combat that has been building since he walked back into our lives.

"Kieran, stop this." Thalia's voice cuts through the haze, but I can barely hear her over the roaring in my blood.

"This is between us." I don't look away from my brother. "It's always been between us."

My father's hand lands on my shoulder, grip like iron. "I forbid this. Challenge by combat requires formal declaration, witnesses, terms agreed upon—"

"Then consider this my formal declaration." Lysander's voice carries through the hall. "I challenge Kieran Fenris for the position of Alpha heir. By blood right as son of Magnus Fenris. By demonstrated capability. By the will of pack members who have lost faith in the current succession."

The words fall like stones into water, ripples spreading through the assembled wolves. This is real now. Official. The kind of challenge that can only end in submission or blood.

"You don't want this, brother." My voice comes out barely human, my wolf so close to the surface I can taste fur on my tongue. "You've never beaten me in combat. Never come close."

"I've never had reason to truly try." Lysander's eyes burn gold. "I have it now."

"Then say the word." I feel the shift pressing against my skin, demanding release. "Say the word and blood will answer."

The pack holds its collective breath. My father's grip tightens on my shoulder, but he doesn't speak—perhaps realizing that stopping this now would damage me more than letting it proceed.

Thalia stands frozen between us, her face pale, her hands pressed to her mouth. I see the horror in her eyes, the realization that her divided heart has brought us to this moment.

But I can't think about her right now. I can only focus on the brother who has finally stopped pretending to be anything less than a threat.

"No combat." Magnus's voice cuts through, final and absolute. "Not tonight."

"When?" Lysander demands.

"Three days." Our father's authority settles over the hall. "Formal challenge, proper witnesses, terms established by council. If you both insist on destroying each other, you'll do it with protocol."

Three days of waiting, of tension building, of knowing that my brother and I will eventually tear each other apart while the woman we both love watches.

"Three days." I agree through gritted teeth.

Lysander nods, his wolf receding just enough to speak clearly. "Three days."

The pack begins to disperse, the immediate crisis averted but the larger confrontation only delayed. I feel their eyes on me as they go—some sympathetic, some calculating, all uncertain.

My father releases my shoulder and walks away without another word. Thalia moves toward me, then hesitates, then goes to neither of us—just stands there in the emptying hall, caught between two men who are about to destroy each other for the right to claim her.

"This isn't over." Lysander's voice reaches me across the growing distance.

I meet his eyes one final time. "It's just beginning."

The hall pulses around us, echoing the challenges spoken and violence promised. In three days, one of us will submit or bleed, and nothing will ever be the same again.
