Who's My Triplet's Alpha Daddy?

Chapter 39

Ch. 39 / 245 Apr 30, 2026

Thalia's POV

Exhaustion wins. It runs deeper, bone-deep, soul-deep. The weariness of fighting a battle I'm no longer sure I believe in.

Craving something I shouldn't want.

Lysander's forehead rests against mine, his hands cupping my face with trembling gentleness. We've been standing in this moment for what feels like eternity, breathing the same air, suspended between choice and consequence.

I'm so tired of fighting.

I close the distance and kiss him.

The contact detonates something primal. He freezes for one heartbeat, two—then his hands slide into my hair and he's kissing me back with a hunger that matches my own. Not gentle, not tentative. Desperate. Like he's been starving for years and I'm the only thing that can save him.

My back hits the kitchen counter. His body presses against mine, solid and warm and nothing like my mate, nothing like what I'm supposed to want. The wrongness of it should stop me, make my wolf rise up.

But my wolf stays silent. And my body responds without permission.

"Thalia." He breathes my name like a prayer, pulls back just enough to meet my eyes. "Are you sure? If we do this—"

"I need this." The words tear out of me, raw and honest. "I need to know I can still choose."

Something shifts in his expression. Understanding, maybe. Recognition of what I'm asking for—not just physical release but proof of my own agency.

He kisses me again, slower this time but no less intense. His hands trace down my sides, mapping curves through thin cotton, leaving trails of heat that make me gasp against his mouth.

"Not here," I manage. "The children—"

He lifts me easily, carries me down the hallway to the guest room where he's been staying. The door closes behind us with a soft click that sounds like a decision being made.

The room is dim, lit only by moonlight filtering through curtains. He sets me down gently, frames my face in his hands, studies me like he's memorizing every detail.

"We can stop." His voice is rough, strained with restraint. "Any time. Just say the word."

"I don't want to stop."

I pull him down to me and we fall together onto the bed.

His touches are urgent but fragile, like he's afraid I might break or disappear. My hands find the hem of his shirt, push it up, needing skin. He helps me remove it, then focuses on the buttons of my sleep top with fingers that shake slightly.

"You're beautiful," he whispers as the fabric parts. "I've imagined this so many times."

"Show me."

He does. With hands and mouth and the kind of attention that makes me feel worshipped instead of simply wanted. Every touch carries weight, meaning, all the years of longing compressed into single points of contact.

I arch into him, pulling him closer, needing more. He obliges, removing remaining barriers between us until we're skin to skin, heartbeat to heartbeat. The intimacy of it overwhelms me—not just physical but emotional, the vulnerability of being truly seen.

When he enters me, I gasp. Different from Kieran, from the mate's consuming fire. This is gentle and desperate all at once, a contradiction I don't try to resolve. He moves slowly at first, watching my face, adjusting to my responses with careful attention.

"Look at me," he says softly. "Stay here with me."

I meet his eyes. This man who never stopped choosing me even when he believed he couldn't.

I chose this. I chose him, at least for now.

The realization sends pleasure spiraling through me, building with each movement, each whispered word, each moment of connection that belongs only to us. Not fate, not destiny, not the Moon's design. Just two people finding each other in the space between what should be and what is.

"Lysander." His name falls from my lips like confession. "I need—"

“I know.” He turns me onto my belly and enters from behind, pushing deeper, finding the angle that makes stars flash behind my eyes. “I've got you.”

The release that follows is quiet, intimate, nothing like the volcanic intensity Kieran draws from me. But it’s mine. And when Lysander follows moments later, face buried in my hair, breathing my name like a benediction, I feel something I haven't felt in longer than I can remember.

Free.

We lie tangled together in the aftermath, breathing slowly returning to normal. His hand traces patterns on my bare shoulder, gentle and absent.

Then guilt crashes over me. It hits like a wave I didn't see coming—the full weight of what I've done, who I've betrayed, what this means for everything I've built. My mate sleeps unsuspecting. My children dream down the hall, trusting their mother to hold their family together.

And I'm lying in another man's arms, the scent of him mixing with my own on sheets that don't belong to either of us.

"Thalia." Lysander feels my body tense, my breathing change. "Talk to me."

"I should feel worse than I do." The confession surprises me. "I keep waiting for the devastation to hit, for my wolf to punish me. But underneath the guilt there's just..."

"What?"

"Relief." I turn to look at him, searching his face in the dim light. "I still belong to myself. The bond doesn't own my choices. I needed to know that."

He's quiet for a long moment, processing what I've said. Then he sits up slowly, swings his legs over the edge of the bed, his back to me as he reaches for his discarded clothes.

"Lysander?"

"I have to leave." His voice is different. Steadier, somehow. More certain. "Tonight. Tomorrow. As soon as possible."

"Because of what we did?"

He turns back to face me, and something in his expression makes my breath catch. The softness is gone, replaced by something harder, more resolved. "You chose me. Even with everything telling you not to—you chose me."

"That doesn't change the reality of my situation."

"No." He pulls on his shirt, buttons it with deliberate movements. "But it changes mine."

I sit up, pulling the sheet around myself. The energy radiating off him feels different now. More confident, stronger, almost... Alpha-like. The same kind of power that rolls off Kieran when he's in command, when he's absolutely certain of his place in the world.

"What are you going to do?"

"Figure out what I want." He moves to the door, pauses with his hand on the frame. "For years I've been running from feelings I thought I wasn't allowed to have. Hiding behind distance and other women and the belief that the bond settled everything."

His eyes meet mine in the darkness.

"But you just proved the bond doesn't own you, which means it doesn't own me either. And I'm done pretending otherwise."

He leaves without another word, closing the door softly behind him.

I sit alone in the guest room that smells like sex and choices and consequences I'm only beginning to understand. My wolf finally stirs, but she doesn't rage against what I've done. She seems curious, almost. Waiting to see what happens next.

Lysander walks past the window outside, heading toward his car. His posture is different—shoulders back, stride confident, every movement carrying purpose I've never seen in him before.

He's changed. Something about what happened between us crystallized something inside him, transformed the gentle man I knew into someone harder, more certain, more dangerous.

More like Kieran.

The thought should terrify me. Instead, it sends a shiver down my spine that has nothing to do with fear.

I've set something in motion tonight. Something that can't be stopped or taken back. And despite the guilt still churning in my chest, part of me wonders if that was the point all along.
