“You still defend that woman, who hurt you so much Andre?” Andre's good nature baffles her sometimes. How can he still protect her, how can he stand up for her whenever she mentions a negative word about her.
Even her lunatic mother that bit her like a cat indeed, he still was unhappy that she fought with her. What kind of a man is he? He definitely must have inherited his good nature from his real parents.
“I know she did something despicable to me. But I loved her. And till this moment, I still love her. How can I allow someone to utter unhealthy words about the woman I love, mom. We can't be together again, ever again but I will protect her, I won't let anyone tarnish her image.
I'll watch her back if I have to and ensure she's safe and happy. I wish her lots of happiness. Perhaps I couldn't make her happy enough, I couldn't satisfy her longings and meet all of her needs. That is why Patrick won her heart. So if her happiness and fulfilment lies with him, then I give my best wishes…” Andre stuttered.
Alice held back her tears. She couldn't say anything. He loves her so deeply, he is hurt and yet, in the midst of his heartbreak and pains, he still wishes her best happiness in the world. How can someone be so genuining?
She prayed that he finds love again. A woman better than Jasmine. More beautiful, more astounding than her, someone who will take away his pains completely. One that will love him so deeply too.
“Alright, back to our discussion. If you really want to relocate, I won't be able to leave with you. You see, I have lived my whole life here in N,Y. Your father and I got married and we lived here. I can't leave here. But you go, pursue your life and stay away from past memories that won't help you to heal fast” Alice advised.
There was a long silence “You don't want to leave N.Y because of dad or you can't imagine living elsewhere?” Andre asked. He'd stayed this long, because of her. If she isn't going to come along with him, it's no use accepting that job.
“I can't live elsewhere anymore. I'm an old woman now. But you have a bright future ahead of you with lots of happiness. Explore the beauty of life and find love again” Alice explained.
“I've known you as my only family all my life. I can't stay away from you. You took me in and gave me shelter, a home and showered me with love. You raised me and educated me. And now, you expect me to relocate from N.Y and leave you behind? No, that's never going to happen” Andre concluded with a tone of finality.
Alice just stared at him, her eyes clouded with tears.
Camella went to find her nanny. She's so confused and dad doesn't want to understand that she did what she did without knowing who Andre was nor knowing the fact. Now, he wants her to go and find Andre. How can she apologise to someone who already left the company and ask him to return?
“I'm so confused, nanny. He resigned before I could have the chance to apologise to him. And dad is furious saying we can't lose him to any rival company. It's so complicated. What should I do now?
On one hand, he was the kind hearted man who rescued us from the snow. He is an employee who I mistakenly punished by slashing his salary by 50% and arrested by the police at my orders. He has resigned and paid the money in full despite knowing he is innocent.
Where do I begin from nanny? I feel so guilty that soaking myself in the bath for hours won't wash away the filth of guilt that I now feel. I've wronged him and I am an ingrate. I can't stop thinking about him. I can't close my eyes, all I see is his innocent eyes, gazing at me…” Camella helplessly explained.
“I know how unhappy Mr Benson was, when he heard the news of his resignation. He was furious and smashed his tea glass against the wall. In all my years of working with him, I've never seen him get infuriated with the news of an employee resignation.
He matters to your dad and the company. And you can't deny it, that once he'd helped you out without knowing who you are. And in situations like this, you will have to begin from somewhere. You have to take the first step and keep going, each step at a time.
You'll go to find him first and apologise for wrongly making him pay for what he knows nothing about and tell him how impressed you are that he didn't fight back, because others would have…” Alice advised.
“Tell me the truth, nanny, I'm a bad woman right?” Camella asked and her nanny went to her, hugged her and resting her head on her chest.
“No, you're not my child. If only people get closer to you, then they will understand your sweet nature” Nanny responded.
Next morning, Andre's phone buzzed, he squinted when he saw that it was Camella. He yawned and answered the phone “Hello” his deep masculine voice came through.
“Good morning Andre,” Camella greeted. She was happy, and threw her legs in the air playfully. She thought he wasn't going to answer his phone. He did, that's the first step. She'd taken the first step.
“Good morning Miss Camella” he responded, getting out of bed. He went to stand by the window and looked out. It's a beautiful day. He pulled back the window blinds for fresh ventilation.
“I was hoping we could see today. You and I have a lot to talk about…” she was saying when Andre interrupted her. “I have a busy schedule. I can't make it, “ he replied and hung up. He placed the phone in its stand and strode into the bathroom. He's too busy to consider Camella's words.
But she's not the type to back out…
