Triumph Of My Cheating Husband

Chapter 24

Ch. 24 / 196 Sep 18, 2024

It was an uncanny evening in the west London. The sky bore a peculiar shade of orange dusk as the sun begun to shone, casting a warm, soft glow towards the windowpanes of Ciara's cozy part of the penthouse in the heart of the city. It was a bitter-sweet sight. The beauty of the sunset illuminated the edges of her apartment, reminding her of all the dreams and aspirations she had bought with her to the bustling metropolis.

Ciara stood by the window, gently stroking her growing belly as her thoughts swirled around the unborn child who lay peacefully in her womb. Although she is still in her early stage of pregnancy, she knew that the news could come to all as shock.

She knew how much bewildered her parents would have been, if only they were alive, especially her mother, who believed Ciara would have put her marriage to rest with a finality that was both heartbreaking and empowering.

Ciara's heart ached with each thought of Ryan, a man she had married in a whirlwind romance that had left her breathless and wanting -if only their marriage wasn't contracted. Ryan Lerman, the enigmatic and magnetic heirto the Lerman's fortune -a fortune so colossal that it could easily swallow her modest Irish roof in one fell swoop.

It was the short of love she had always read about in novels, grand and passionate, sweeping her off her fret and into another world. But like all treacherous love affairs, it was also deeply destructive.

As she gazed out of the window at the now fierce orange sun, her thoughts returned to the months she had spent as Ryan's wife. She remembered the first time she met his mother, lady Lerman, a formidable figure in her own right.

Her icy demeanor and calculated glance did nothing to alleviate Ciara's growing little sense of unease. Little did she know that her marriage could blossom into a battlefield, with Ryan caught in the crossfire between Ciara's earnest love and her mother-in-law fierce ambition.

For all her insecurities, Ciara never doubted the passion she held for Ryan. From the beginning, it was a force that consumed her, every secret touch, every stolen glance, every whispered endearment igniting smell fires within her.

In these early days, she was supposed to have pursued him with unprecedented intensity, convinced that their love could weather any storm, but as of then, he was just a mere stranger she got caught up with -her patient.

But as the months blurred into a frenzy of deceit and betrayal orchestrated by Ryan himself, her initial optima begin to wane. He was at first a sweet and gentle soul, even with another intention at hand, she couldn't help but fall for him.

She had foolishly hoped that their marriage could cease to be a contract and morph into something true and beautiful that would last them the rest of their lives. However, Ryan was no longer the man she had fallen for, in fact, he turned otherwise not less.

One faithful night, he returned to their room with an air of a man defeated. His eyes were dull with the burn of whiskey, his unusual self-assurance replaced with an almost incoherent anger as he stumbled into their bedroom.

Ciara saw the raw emotions in his face, and she felt a surge of empathy for the man who she had once believed to be her soulmate. She knew for him to be in such a state at that moment, something possibly would have gone wrong -definitely between himself and his mother.

"Don't leave me..."She heard him whisper those few words under his breath as his eyes sparkled in a kind of emotion she failed to pinpoint -it was a mixed emotion. Be it love or lust, Ciara seems not to care about whatever it might be.

She threw her caution off the window as she gave in to his bidding. That night, as she lay in his arm, she surrenders once more to their complicated love, praying that the yeasts of heartache would finally dissolve with each other's cares.

When the morning sunlight pierced into their bedroom, Ciara woke to the crushing reality that the night before had been an oasis in the calamitous torrent of their lives together. As the day wore on, her and her suspicious growth, she discovered that she was carrying the child of a man who had broken her heart.

This prospect of motherhood was both a balm and a curse; a symbol of her undying love for him, but an enduring reminder of betrayal which had etched themselves into the very core of her being. If only she wasn't foolish enough to fall for him despite knowing the kind of man he is.

The more she tried to think it through -how she was easily convinced by his mother into accepting the disguised marriage and how easily he went back to his ex-girlfriend and leaving her hanging like she wasn't existing in the first place, Ciara convinced herself his mother might have been part of his plan from the onset.

If not, Ryan, who she believed to have fear his mother's might with the kind of nature she possessed, wouldn't have been so confident in divorcing her out of the blues without a reason -not after both parties already agreed to abide by the contract rules.

Yet, amidst all her anguish, Ciara found a silver of resolve. She would keep her pregnancy secret from Ryan and his conniving mother -who would certainly use the child to consolidate their own on the Lehman estate. If there was one thing she was determined to do, it was to protect her child from the machinations that reduced her marriage to a hallow shell -even though it was contracted.

As Ciara stood at the window, watching the sun deep beneath the horizon, she gasped hold of that shimming beacon of hope. With a renewed sense of purpose, she inhaled deeply and made a quiet vow to her unborn child.

They would navigate the uncertain water of their new lives together, mother and child, hand in hand. It would be a glorious adventure, one that would erase the painful memories of the last infinite possibilities -a future where love conquers all the scars of betrayal finally begin to fade away.
