Earlier that same day, it was warm as the sunlight reflects brightly as it shines, adding more beauty to the streets of States. However, it did not last too long as the climate suddenly changed. Soon enough, the supposed warm weather was changed as it rained slightly, the atmosphere suddenly turning cold.
On a cold, dreary Wednesday afternoon, heavy with the weight of an impending decision, Ryan sat in the conference room of his office alongside his diligent staff members. He fidgeted continuously, struggling to focus on the words bouncing around the room as his mind was besieged by the echoes of the conversation he had had with his wife, Anne, only a few hours before.
Ryan and Anne had weathered many storms over the dozen years they had been together. Through tremendous hardship and joys, they had managed to remain steadfast in their love for each other.
"...And, since we now share the same path in life, I believe it only fitting that we share the same name in all aspect including your properties and company..." It sounded too strange to him as her voice kept ringing in his head over and over again.
They were the epitome of a couple that survived every struggle, emerging stronger and more devoted as time went by. The two of though had faced significant challenges during their time together, which only strengthened their bond.
Tears filled Ryan's eyes as his thought wandered, blurting the whiteboard across the room. All he could hear were Anne's words earlier that day, their steadfast love a beacon of hope in an increasingly harrowing world.
Throughout their time together, Anne had been a constant support to Ryan, always encouraging him to pursue his dreams and ambitions. In many ways, she was the primary reason for his enormous success -even though he's the heirto all he owns already. Nevertheless, Ryan had never considered the idea of sharing his wealth with her. For him, he believed that his wife would always be satisfied by the love and devotion.
However, Anne was no fool, while she loved her husband deeply, she understood that there is a vast difference between sentimental attachment and financial stability.
She knows that their unconventional marriage might prove controversial among their family and friends, but she had never let that interfere with the love she had for her husband.
She had fought tooth and nails to make a place for herself, not just in Ryan's life and someday maybe in his families' heart-his mother precisely.
The crux of their conversation still rang in Ryan's ear, as Anne had bought up an immensely vital question. What if something were to happen to him? Would he leave Anne in the cold, penniless and forgotten? Adriana had been by his side through thick and thin, and she deserves more than to be cast out to the wolves in the event of the demise.
While Ryan staffs droned off about project timelines and resource requirements, his mind could not stop racing as it thump few times a minute. The image of his mother filled his mind. Her unending insistence that he marry Ciara, a woman chosen for him just to get rid of Anne and ensure he never ends up with her, a notion he had never warmed up to.
He saw in her eyes, the disappointment of his mother would feel upon learning that he was not only marrying for love instead of duty, but that he would be splitting his wealth, effectively trying to defy his family's wishes for him.
His mother had threatened to disown him when she learns that he got married to Anne, though he never wishes for such, but he could not help letting go ofAnne for any other woman. What other threat awaits him if she learns that he's about to split the wealth?
Ryan's heart raced as he pondered sharing his wealth with Anne-he owned a lot, but he already gave her his words. He was almost certain that when he is livid, yet, he felt a deep responsibility towards the woman who loved him unconditionally, who had given him the reason to fight through the tough times and believe in the value of true love.
As the meeting continued, unconcerned by the ebbing hours, Ryan recalled the early days of his relationship with Anne. The pushback from his family and friends, the whispered doubt and openly hostile remarks about Anne's standing in his life. He remembered vividly the way she had never wavered, standing proud and firm in the face of adversity. Her love, a shining beacon in these days.
With gritted teeth and a resolve born of unyielding devotion, Ryan made the decision that would change their lives forever. He would share everything he had with Anne as a testament to their love and the sacrifices they made for it.
"What's your say on this, boss?" The private assistant asked him directly, snapping him off his train of thought. Ryan creased his brows tightly like he was getting them to knot as he stares strangely at him.
"What...?" Ryan stuttered, caught off guard.
"You haven't been contributing or saying anything since the meeting commenced." Ryan's assistant reminded, his voice sounding polite enough.
Ryan cut him off sharply. "Oh,that...I'm sick, and my head seems to be banging, you know what that means, don't you?" He harshly told his assistant. "Let's call it a day, this meeting is adjourned for now."
"But, It's been a while since we had such a huge project as this, sir. We can't afford to..."He was still saying...
"Don't make me repeat words, Michel. This meeting is over..."Ryan could not help but bang the table before him hard, the sound echoing loudly throughout the boardroom.
Eager to begin this new chapter with his wife, he concluded the project meeting and made his way to his lawyer's office to discuss the practical aspect of his decisions.
He knew that his moves will cost him a lot, especially with his mother, but his priority was to ensure the comfort and security of the person he loved most in his life -Anne...
