Christine's words reminded Lillian of what happened that day.
Lillian's face turned pale, but she did not think that Gloria had helped her out of sincerity.
"Christine, what you said is true, and Gloria did help me out. Even so, I did not ask her to act like a dog to curry favor with the customers. She did it for money. What does it have to do with me?"
Christine was so mad, yet she laughed. She felt that Gloria's sacrifice was not worth it, because Lillian was an ungrateful person.
Christine sighed, "It's a pity that Gloria paid a price to save a piece of trash who doesn't know how to be grateful."
Lillian's face turned ashen.
Lillian looked at Christine angrily and said, "Christine, how can you insult me like that? I am a waitress at Fittro Club. I worked and I got paid. I didn't want a dime by sacrificing my dignity like Gloria. I've nothing to be ashamed of. Why should I be humiliated?"
Christine could not help but laugh. "Lillian, let me make it clear to you. If Gloria didn't help you out that day, you would be the one who was tortured by the customers! You would only suffer more than Gloria did!"
Christine smiled contemptuously and continued, "You could not do what Gloria could do."
"Of course not. I won't do something so shameless," Lillian said proudly.
Christine nodded. "I hope you can still say so in a week."
She didn't bother to talk nonsense with Lillian anymore. If Lillian could hold on to that thought after being forced by the customers, then she was a tough one.
"People can always make choices. I will always believe in that, not to mention a week, a month, or a year later. I will never become a moneygrubber like Gloria."
Christine no longer looked at her. "Alright, you can leave now."
"Then I will return to work." Lillian turned around and left with a cold face.
When Lillian walked to the door, Christine's voice came from behind her.
She said, "Lillian, remember that you should have been the one to suffer everything that Gloria is experiencing. Trust me, there are always things that will make you give in. Since you don't appreciate Gloria's kindness, then I don't need to protect you anymore."
Lillian did not think much of it. She never thought Christine had protected her since she began to work at Fittro Club, so she thought that the so-called protection was nothing.
However, soon enough, Lillian understood how important Christine's protection was.
In Fittro Club, the customers might tease the waitresses, but that was all, and they rarely suffered from them.
It was an unspoken rule at the Fittro Club and was reinforced by Christine.
Lillian left Christine's office. Quickly, Christine's attitude toward Lillian spread in the entire Fittro Club.
Lillian did not feel anything strange. One day, a waitress, who was close to Lillian, asked her secretly, "Did you offend Christine?"
Lillian said angrily, "Does Christine want to punish me?"
"Don't joke around. Christine will never bother to do that to a waitress. She simply won't protect her anymore."
Lillian said nonchalantly, "That's no big deal. If she doesn't like me, I'll stay away from her."
"Do as you please. Watch out for yourself." The waitress did not say anything more.
She could tell that Lillian did not care about it at all. Since that was the case, as an outsider, she didn't want to meddle in Lillian's business. That would be pointless to her.
Christine stayed in the office and did not take Lillian seriously.
Lillian was being ungrateful. It was fine if she did not know how to be grateful, but she even belittled Gloria. Christine would not be angry because of a waitress.
Christine stood up. As she stepped out of the office, she bumped into Patrick and Sean.
"Mr. Hammond, Mr. Mason," Christine quickly took a step back and greeted them.
Sean joked, "Christine, are you throwing yourself at me?"
He said so because Christine almost bumped into Patrick.
Patrick looked at Sean and said, "Christine is my right-hand man. Sean, don't joke with her."
Christine looked at Patrick. "Mr. Hammond, Gloria..."
"She won't die," Patrick replied.
Christine was slightly relieved.
She pretended to be indifferent and reported to Patrick, "Mr. Hammond, please take a rest in my office. The employees have been restless lately. They keep gossiping and disturbing others. I was about to talk to them."
Patrick seemed curious. He suddenly asked, "What did they gossip about?"
"Gloria." Christine explained, "The incident that happened in the private room that day leaked out. Right now, everyone in Fittro Club knew about what Gloria had done."
Christine did not elaborate on the details.
She only mentioned the "incident" in the private room, and she did not tell Patrick what had happened.
However, Patrick understood.
In an instant, his calm eyes turned sharp, and his gaze rested on Christine's face. He asked coldly in a deep voice, "Who leaked it?"
"I have just found out about that." Christine hesitated for a moment and continued, "If I'm not wrong, it's Ruby."
That day, she saw Ruby peeking outside the private room. There was no one else except for her.
"Bring her here." Patrick's voice was cold and so were his eyes.
He narrowed his eyes and asked Christine about something else. "What happened to Gloria's voice?"
Christine knew what had happened.
"A newcomer called Yuna from the Public Relations Department pulled Gloria into a private room and bullied her. She asked Gloria to sing high-pitched songs without giving her any water."
