The Rebirth of My Dead Billionaire Wife

Chapter 203

Ch. 203 / 300 Apr 25, 2026

The cold night air clung to Avery as she stood by the fountain, watching Shawn pace back and forth with his phone pressed to his ear. She hugged her arms to herself, torn between lingering humiliation and the fragile hope Shawn’s words had planted.

Shawn ended the call and turned to her, his green eyes earnest. “Okay, it’s set. My mom pulled some strings. There’s a boutique nearby—her friend’s the designer, and she’ll meet us there. We’ve got about twenty minutes to get there.”

Avery hesitated, her skepticism clear. “Shawn, this sounds… I don’t know. Ridiculous.”

“It’s not,” Shawn said firmly, stepping closer. “You deserve to feel amazing tonight, Avery. Please let me fix this. Let me prove I’m on your side.”

Her gray eyes searched his face, looking for any sign of insincerity, but all she saw was determination. She sighed, her breath visible in the cold. “Alright. But this is the last time I’m trusting you, Shawn.”

He nodded solemnly. “You won’t regret it. I promise.”

The drive to the boutique was quiet, the tension in the air palpable. When they arrived, Avery’s nerves spiked. The building was elegant, with glittering window displays showcasing dresses that looked like they belonged on red carpets.

“I can’t believe we’re doing this,” she muttered as they stepped inside.

A woman in her late forties, dressed in a sleek black ensemble, approached them with a warm smile. Her dark hair was pulled into an elegant bun, and her sharp eyes swept over Avery with professional precision.

“You must be Avery,” she said, her voice smooth and confident. “I’m Elena. Shawn’s mom called me, and I’m here to make sure you leave looking unforgettable.”

“Thank you,” Avery said hesitantly, feeling out of place in the opulent surroundings.

“No need to thank me,” Elena replied, gesturing toward a fitting room. “Let’s get started.”

Shawn gave Avery an encouraging nod as she followed Elena, her heart pounding.

Inside the fitting room, Avery stared at her reflection in the mirror. Her gown was still damp from the champagne, clinging uncomfortably to her skin.

“Alright,” Elena said briskly, pulling a series of dresses from a nearby rack. “We’re going to find you something spectacular. You’re petite with sharp features, so let’s focus on structure and elegance.”

Elena held up a silver gown, its fabric shimmering faintly in the light. “Try this one.”

Avery hesitated but stepped into the gown. When Elena zipped it up and adjusted the fit, Avery turned to face the mirror—and froze.

The dress hugged her frame perfectly, the metallic sheen complementing her pale skin and dark hair. The neckline was elegant but daring, and the flowing skirt added a touch of ethereal grace.

Elena clapped her hands together. “Now that’s what I’m talking about. You look stunning.”

“I… I don’t even recognize myself,” Avery admitted, her voice soft.

“We’re not done yet,” Elena said with a wink. “Let’s add the finishing touches.”

A team of assistants appeared, quickly accessorizing Avery with delicate diamond earrings and a matching bracelet. One stylist applied subtle makeup enhancements, highlighting her cheekbones and making her gray eyes pop. Another stylist adjusted her hair, pinning it into a loose, elegant bun with a few soft curls framing her face.

When they were finished, Avery turned to the mirror again, and this time, she felt her breath catch.

“Is that really me?” she whispered, her fingers brushing over the gown’s smooth fabric.

“It’s you,” Elena said with a smile. “But the best version of you.”

When Avery stepped out of the fitting room, Shawn’s jaw dropped. He stood frozen for a moment, taking in the sight of her.

“Wow,” he said finally, his voice low and filled with awe. “You look… incredible.”

Avery blushed, glancing down at the gown. “It’s a little much, isn’t it?”

Shawn shook his head, stepping closer. “No. It’s perfect. You’re perfect.”

His words sent a warmth through her that she hadn’t felt all night. For the first time in hours, she let herself smile.

“Thank you,” she said softly. “For all of this. I still can’t believe you pulled it off.”

“I’d do anything for you,” Shawn said simply, his sincerity unmistakable.

As they left the boutique, the cold air hit them again, but Avery barely noticed. She felt like a completely different person, her confidence slowly returning with every step.

Shawn walked beside her, his hands shoved into his coat pockets. As they reached his car, he stopped and turned to her.

“Wait until they see you now,” he said, leaning in close enough that his voice was almost a whisper.

Avery’s cheeks flushed, but she held his gaze. For the first time that night, she believed him.
