The Rebirth of My Dead Billionaire Wife

Chapter 200

Ch. 200 / 300 Apr 25, 2026

Crestwood Academy’s hallways buzzed with the usual chatter, but for Avery Kane Deveraux, the day was anything but ordinary. She could sense the tension in Shawn’s demeanor from the moment he walked past her in the cafeteria without his usual easygoing smile. Something was wrong, but she couldn’t figure out what.

Meanwhile, Camila Diaz was hard at work executing her latest scheme. She stood at Avery’s locker, her perfectly manicured nails clutching a folded note. Glancing around to make sure the coast was clear, she slid the note into Avery’s locker with a smirk.

The note, written in deliberately delicate handwriting, read:

*Ryan,

I can’t stop thinking about you. You’ve changed so much, and I see now what I couldn’t before. I hope we can talk soon.

• A*

Camila’s plan was simple: sow doubt, create chaos, and ensure that Shawn and Avery’s relationship crumbled under the weight of suspicion.

Later that afternoon, Avery was heading to class when she felt a hand on her arm. She turned to find Shawn standing behind her, his expression dark.

“We need to talk,” he said, his voice tense.

“Okay,” Avery said cautiously, letting him lead her to a quiet corner of the hallway. “What’s going on?”

Shawn reached into his pocket and pulled out the crumpled note, holding it up for her to see. “Care to explain this?”

Avery blinked, confused. “What is that?”

Shawn’s jaw tightened. “Don’t play dumb, Avery. It’s a love note. To Ryan. From you.”

Avery’s stomach dropped. “What? Shawn, I didn’t write that!”

“Really?” Shawn said, his tone laced with disbelief. “Because it was found in your locker. It’s got your handwriting, and it’s signed with your initial.”

Avery took the note, her hands trembling as she scanned the words. “This isn’t mine. I swear, Shawn, I don’t know where this came from.”

Shawn studied her face, his green eyes searching hers for any sign of deception. “So someone just decided to write this and put it in your locker? Why would anyone do that?”

Avery’s voice grew firm. “I don’t know, but it wasn’t me. Shawn, someone’s trying to sabotage us.”

For a moment, his resolve seemed to waver, but the seed of doubt had already been planted. “I don’t know what to believe right now,” he said quietly.

Avery felt a lump rise in her throat. “You have to believe me. Shawn, I wouldn’t do this to you.”

He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I need some time to think.”

As he walked away, Avery stood frozen, the note crumpled in her hand.

Ryan didn’t need to be told what had happened to know his plan was working. Camila’s fake note had clearly hit its mark, and Shawn’s distance from Avery was proof enough.

He approached Shawn near the gym after practice, keeping his tone casual. “Hey, Carter. Everything okay? You seem… distracted.”

Shawn glanced at him, his expression guarded. “I’m fine.”

Ryan leaned against the wall, crossing his arms. “You sure? Because I heard something interesting earlier. Something about Avery writing you off for someone else.”

Shawn’s jaw clenched. “What are you talking about?”

“Look, man, I’m not trying to start anything,” Ryan said, feigning concern. “But people are saying she’s been talking about me a lot lately. I don’t know if it’s true, but if it is… maybe you should ask yourself if you’re just her rebound.”

Shawn’s fists curled at his sides. “Rebound? You’re full of it. You were nothing but a bully to her.”

“Am I?” Ryan said with a shrug. “Look, I’ve been where you are, Carter. Trust me, Avery’s not the kind of girl to settle for someone like you. She’s complicated. She’s…” He paused, his tone softening. “She’s always been mine, whether she knows it or not.”

Shawn’s glare hardened, but he didn’t respond. Instead, he turned and walked away, leaving Ryan with a triumphant smirk.

The following day, Avery was walking through the hallway when she spotted a familiar sight that stopped her in her tracks. Near the staircase, Camila stood close to Ryan, their heads bent together as they whispered.

Avery ducked behind a corner, her heart pounding. She couldn’t hear what they were saying, but their body language was enough to make her suspicious. Camila’s hand rested lightly on Ryan’s arm, her expression smug, while Ryan nodded with a faint smirk.

Pieces of the puzzle began falling into place in Avery’s mind. The fake note, the rumors, Shawn’s sudden distrust—could Camila and Ryan be working together?

Her stomach churned at the thought. It wasn’t just the possibility of betrayal; it was the realization that someone was actively trying to ruin her happiness.

Avery clenched her fists, determination replacing her doubt. She wasn’t going to let them win.
