I swallowed down the revulsion I was feeling and walked down the next street. I saw a place with many people. I walked into their midst and went on my knees.
I begged. I cried. I screamed for some dollars.
Some were kind enough to help me. Others thought I just escaped a medical asylum and drove me away like rotten food. I kept my head up high, and I didn't stop, but it just wasn't enough. In the end, it couldn't even buy one drug, let alone several drugs that were prescribed. I couldn't even remember the last time I ate. My feet were so sore they could barely carry me. My eyes were hurting from crying so much.
I entered another street. It was very lonely and a bit dark. While running around trying to look for more help, two men suddenly came in front of me. One was huge and tall, the other was huge and short.
"I need money," I stuttered as they stared at my body. I could feel their eyes undressing me.
"And we need you."
Oh, okay.
"Alright," I agreed. "I'll give you what you want, but in exchange for money."
I tried to reason with them, but instead, they started laughing really hard.
"You've got some nerve, bitch, or you've lost your mind. We're twice your size. We can have you without having to lose a dime," one of them said. The other one started laughing again, walking towards me.
He pulled me by the arm as I yelped. That arm hurt badly from holding Jamie for so long.
"No, please... you have to help me. The money is for my baby please....he's gonna die if I don't get him drugs." I was crying and I can't seem to stop myself. "You can have me as many times as you want. I'm begging you please just a few hundred dollars at least please....,I need to buy him medicine, I'm begging you please!" I pleaded with tears, the face of my sick baby very clear in my mind.
"We're not giving you anything." The tall one snarled and suddenly, they were dragging me.
"No please!."I yelled. I tried to get away but it was useless. They were stronger than me, I didn't stand a chance!
"We're gonna have so much fun." One of them snarled into my ears.
I found courage and managed to wiggle out of his grasp. I tried to escape but one of them grabbed me by the hair, pulling me back.
"Please, I'm begging you!."I cried out but they only laughed as they dragged me to God know where.
Oh God, I'm finished, I cried bitterly.
Then, I was thrown to the floor like a used rag in what seemed like an uncompleted building.
"It's been a while I've had someone so young and beautiful." The short one said walking towards me.
I tried to move back but he pulled me up by my hair as he placed his hands over my lips.
"No please, no please!" I cried as the other one ripped my clothes off me.
I was left lying down in just my panties and my bra. I cried out but no one heard me. I screamed but only the howl of the night's owl responded.
"Please! Oh God, please." I begged, exhausted. "Do anything you want. Anything at all... But please, give me money afterwards for my baby." I cried.
They ignored me.
"I'll go first." The other said as he unbuckled his belt.
"Hurry, I can't wait." The one holding me whispered as his filthy hands touched my skin. He held my tender breast and squeezed roughly.
As I closed my eyes, I knew what was about to happen. The thought of being raped, probably to death, made my heart race with fear. I couldn't shake off the thought of my poor, little Jaime waiting for his medicine at the motel while his failure of a mother was about to face her end. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I accepted my fate. This was it. The end of my fight for survival. I had lost.
Suddenly, the weight on top of me was gone, and I heard grunts of pain. I was too afraid to open my eyes, so I curled into myself and sobbed as I listened to the sounds of fighting around me. I imagined a gang of thieves fighting for the right to have me first. My torn dress lay beside me, and I tried to cover myself with it.
There was a loud thud, and my eyes opened to see my two rapists lying on the ground, beaten and bloody, and unconscious. My heart bled, and whatever was left of my self-esteem was almost taken from me now. I suddenly felt lightheaded and knew I was about to faint.
As I looked up slowly, I saw him, and my heart skipped a beat. It was him, my drunkard.
The man who had once been my savior, my protector, my rock. It had been so long since I had seen him. I wondered how he had found me. Did he know I was in trouble, or was it just a coincidence? Either way, I felt a sense of calm wash over me. He was here now, and he would keep me safe.
