The tension in the car was discernible, and I was failing to breathe. I was glad when we reached Halsey's new mansion. The driver opened the door, and my mate and I linked arms as we went to the door.
A servant welcomed us. She bowed and smiled. I could hear chatter and soft music coming from another room.
Halsey's mansion was elegant, I could tell she was a woman of style by how it was decorated, there were captivating paintings on the walls.
" My prince, Luna, welcome. This is my temporary home until the estate is ready," she said, kissing both of us on the cheek. I peered at her outfit, a lovely cocktail dress with a low necklace.
" You have a lovely home," I said.
" Thank you. Let's go in the party room, everyone is there," she said, and we followed after her. We reached the room and found a dozen people there, people of high rank. They all bowed when they saw us.
" You good?" Rhaegar whispered. So, now he wanted to speak to me after being silent the whole ride here. I nodded, not looking at him.
" I'll socialize," he murmured and went to a group of men. They were talking, and drinking while I stayed with Halsey and two other women. The ladies were delighted she was back and asked her questions about her travels. She had been to many places indeed, but I could tell she was leaving out details about her stories. The evening was pleasant, and I wondered where Zuriel was. He wasn't introduced, or brought up. I interacted with the others, now kind of getting bored. I wished Kiyana was there, but she traveled with Nate.
The clinking of a glass got my attention where Halsey stood, glancing at everyone.
" Friends, thank you for honoring my invitation. This means so much to me,"
She continued to speak about how much she missed the pack and how wonderful it was to be back and be treated with such kindness. Her speech was heartwarming, she inhaled, and raised a glass to toast,
" To more friendly dinners and building an even better pack,"
" Cheers," everyone said. I gulped my champagne as the soft music resumed. A few guests were dancing, and my eyes went to where my mate was. he was speaking to Halsey, and Kendrick, they seemed to be having a great time, laughing and sharing stories while I felt miserable. He was ignoring me. The servers gave me another glass of champagne, which I took.
" Luna Nalya," Laika called. Her gaze was mischievous.
" What?" I sighed in exhaustion, not looking at her as my gaze was still fixed on my mate.
" It will be so easy if you approach him with your concerns, whatever this game you two are playing will only end badly, and the rift between you will grow," she advised. Laika was right, I needed to talk to my mate about this, I was being paranoid and childish!

I glanced around the room, interacting with people and hoping I saw Zuriel, but I didn't. I left the party and went to the bathroom to retouch my makeup.
When I left, I started exploring the mansion absentmindedly, I was on the third floor in the hallway, going straight to a huge oak door, and I could catch Zuriel's strong scent there. I opened it slowly and entered the massive bedroom. It was dark, and the only light was from the balcony. In the corner of the room was a huge bed, a large sofa on the opposite, and a huge TV. On the floor were game controllers lying around.
" Nalya," I was startled by Zuriel's voice. I turned around, he was standing right next to another door in his pajamas.
" Hi," I waved.
" Hello, what are you doing in here?" he asked, casually going to sit in front of his computer.
" I was downstairs and just wanted to say hi," I said. The boy sent me a small smile, did he ever smile fully?
" Thanks,"
I sat next to him, " Why didn't you go to the party?"
" I don't like crowds,"
" Why?"
" I don't enjoy talking, and I'm tired of attending gatherings, we did that a lot at the empire," he shrugged. I raised my eyebrow.
" Empire?"
He seemed a little uneasy now, he tapped his fingers against his table.
" I meant my old home..."
" Where is your old home?" I asked gently. He was already apprehensive. He stayed silent, I didn't think he would answer, but he did.
" Abroad,"
" Do you miss it?" I asked.
" I miss my sister and friends, but I don't miss the castle,"
Sister? Castle? Empire? Where was this place? I needed to remember I was talking to a child,
" Oh! I didn't know you had a sister. That must be great!" I beamed,
"Yeah, it was fun when we played together," he frowned. A dark atmosphere suddenly soaked the room, and my wolf was agitated. What the fuck?
" Castle!" I exclaimed, nudging him playfully," You lived in a castle. It must have been fun with servants, and all,"
" Yes, so many! They do anything I want,"
" Who is your dad?" The words flew out of my mouth as I couldn't find the right ones to use. Zuriel opened his mouth a few times and he looked... scared now. His hands were shaking a little, and I couldn't help but feel like the room was too.
" I- It's okay. You don't have to-"
" Nalya," A low growl resounded. I jumped from my seat, startled, and faced the door. It was Rhaegar, and behind him was Halsey, she ran to her son's room, hugging him and whispering words to him. I was confused.
I followed Rhaegar outside. He faced me without any sort of emotion.
" What do you think you'll be asking a little boy questions that obviously made him uncomfortable?" he was heaving.
" I'm sorry," I spoke softly, " I've been paranoid since I met Halsey, my mind just went places," I confessed. He massaged his temple, took a step forward, holding both my hands, and looked into my eyes, I couldn't hold his gaze as I told him what I was thinking.
" I wish you asked me, nothing is going on between Halsey and me," he said, I nodded. I should know that, but my head was crowded with jealousy.
" I'm sorry about everything, and for the way I was acting toward you,"
Tears burned my eyes as I said those words, and they escaped me. Rhaegar shook his head and wiped my tears away.
" Why were you avoiding me, baby?" his voice was gentle.
" I was feeling disgusted with myself for what he did. I thought if I felt that way then you feel it too, and I didn't want you to be repulsed by me so I just created this distance between us before you could," I explained what had been in my heart.
" Oh, Nalya," he breathed, and cupped my face,
" I'm sorry that happened to you, but never think I'd repulse you. I love you so much, and I want to be with you through everything. Don't shut me out, " he said and hugged me. My arms went around his waist. I missed him so much. He pulled away, and kissed me gently, soft and sweet.
" I missed you," I murmured.
" I know, " I chuckled at his response, he kissed my hair and added, " I missed you more,"
" Can we talk?" We pulled away and looked at Halsey, her face was serious. I nodded, we needed to, and I wanted to apologize.
We concluded our talk, and I was glad to hear Halsey's story. She has been through a lot and survived.
" I'm sorry for assuming," I said. My mate kissed my hand, and Halsey smiled.
" It's alright,"
We excused ourselves from the party and went back home. Rhaegar was smiling the whole way, and I was too.
" I fucking missed you, baby," he sighed.
" I did too,"
" How much?" he smirked.
" How about I just show you," he didn't wait for us to get home when he stopped the car and pulled me on his legs, I straddled him, unbuckled his belt, and pulled down his pants.
