Nalya
Another month went by, and my therapy was going well. My mate and I hadn't been too close nor had we slept in the same bed. I slept in my son's room every night. He was becoming as miserable as I was, but fear was stopping me from going to him.
After my session at the hospital with Tonia, I passed by his office building, I missed him and wanted to have coffee with him. All the employees saluted me, I went straight to the top floor and to his office. My heart was pounding as I neared it. I pushed the door open, but to my utter shock, my husband was in the middle of the office, dancing and giggling with a woman. They stopped when they saw me and stepped away from each other.
I was frozen in place and opened my mouth to speak, but no sound came out.
I felt pain in my chest at how they were interacting. Rhaegar smiled at me fondly, but I could tell he was apprehensive.
" Babe," he walked to me. The woman is gorgeous and tall, she too smiled at me, and her smile was graceful and kind.
" I didn't know you were coming here," he said,
" Clearly," I murmured. He was quite a few seconds while I waited to be introduced,
" Baby, this is Halsey Crawford, a close acquaintance and a large shareholder in the corporation,"
" You dance with all your acquaintances," the words flew from my mouth before I could stop them. He raised his brow a little unsurely.
" Oh no, Luna. I'm hosting my first ball back to the pack, and I was just nervous. I forced him to move around with me as I might have forgotten some steps," Halsey spoke confidently and fondly as if they'd been close for a long time.
" Um, Halsey is a childhood friend of mine, she left the pack a few years ago, and now she is back," Rhaegar explained. Where did she go? If she was throwing a ball it meant she was a high-ranking member. Why didn't I know about her? When did she come back? Halsey Crawford, I thought. Shoving down my covetousness and little anger, I smiled politely and extended my hand to her.
" Hi, I'm Nalya, his mate, and Luna," Her slender hand extended and shook it.
" It's a pleasure to meet you. I've heard only good things about you,"
I glanced at Rhaegar, who was scrutinizing me. Halsey exhaled and grabbed the laptop on my mate's desk.
" Alright, I'll get going now, Prince Rhaegar. Are you coming to dinner tonight?" she asked excitedly. Rhaegar was skeptical,
" You know how nervous I feel to meet our old pals again, and Zuriel will be delighted to see you," she smiled, and glanced at me, " Luna Nalya, please join us. Maybe he'll be inclined to come too,"
I nodded and watched as the door shut before her. I faced my mate.
" What was that?" I asked icily. He sighed and tried to kiss my cheek, but I moved away.
" What was what?"
" Halsey Crawford, how do I not know about her?"
" You were in the hospital when she came," I sighed.
" Why didn't you tell me when I left?" I snapped. I was annoyed for some reason.
" When last did we have a proper conversation? You're either too busy with the woman's association or with Khai, you can't even have dinner with me," he burst suddenly. Rhaegar was pissed now. I didn't feel like having this talk now, so, I turned around and left his office. He didn't chase after me. I got into the elevator, and pushed the ground floor button, as it started going down, it stopped,
" Luna!" Halsey beamed. She didn't seem to notice my somber mood as she stepped in, following after her was a handsome boy, no doubt he'd break many hearts with that face when he was older.
His gaze was on me, and something in his mesmerizing suddenly eyes lit up, " Hello," he greeted me with a slight smile. I smiled back.
" Hi, what's your name?" I asked.
" I'm Zuriel,"
" Nice to meet you, Zuriel. I'm Nalya," Halsey was visibly shocked by our exchange. I wondered whose child he was, as If reading my thoughts, she said.
" He's my son," she chuckled. She looked young to have a son that age.
" He's almost eight, just a little tall for his age," she laughed, ruffling his hair.
" Mom," the boy growled in annoyance. It was cute, but his growl took me aback. Halsey seemed slightly uneasy, glimpsing at me. Werewolf boys didn't growl like that until they were fourteen when their wolves appeared in their lives and shifted at age sixteen.
" He's a gifted boy," she smiled.
" I see that,"
Ding, the elevator reached the ground floor, and we stepped out.
" I'll be going. See you around, Zuriel," I waved, turning around to leave when she called me,
" Luna Nalya, can I have your email, I'll send you details for the dinner in case you want to join," she said. I contemplated before nodding. We exchanged emails, and I walked back to the car.
On my way to the packhouse, my thoughts were on Zuriel. His ambiance was strong and different, like that of an alpha. I gasped, clutching the break as my eyes popped out in realization.
Could he be Rhaegar's son? The honking of cars got me out of my thoughts, and I parked on the side. Oh my, is that why they seemed fond of each other? How come I'd never heard about Halsey until now? That boy, his growl, could only indicate that he's of royal blood, an alpha heir!
No alpha would let another alpha stay in their pack regardless of age. Did Rhaegar know he might have another son? I needed to ask him about this. ' Oh gods, it's not it. Their scents are different!' My wolf scoffed.
' And the growl?' I asked.
' You understand that he's not the country's only alpha, right? Maybe the boy's father is another alpha,'
' No, I need to be sure,'
' You enjoy worrying yourself,' she said and blocked me. I felt like she found every chance to criticize me.
