Alisha's POV
I never expected that these she-wolves were actually discussing Archie, and to my surprise, they were talking about his performance in bed! Hahaha! Now it seemed that they all knew Archie was impotent! I had a strong suspicion that this news came from Blue Lake. Thanks to those two "gifts"-who had no manners and were so arrogant. Nevertheless, I had to admit, I was grateful for their loose tongues this time.
It was such a big surprise to hear rumors about Archie's sexual abilities in this occasion. I couldn't help but chuckle secretly. Compared with Archie, who brought this upon himself by fooling around with Erma, I just told a little lie.
What’s more, in the end, it was his mother, Stephenie, who was to blame. If she hadn't brought those she-wolves from Blue Lake to the Golden Crest, this rumor might never have spread in the first place. It was all interconnected, and I couldn't help but find some twisted amusement in the situation.
I had been holding back my laughter, trying to be respectful to Archie, but when I heard Gray's laughter, I just couldn't contain myself any longer. The contagious joy of the moment swept me away, and laughter burst out of me.
Archie glared at me, clearly seething with anger. I felt a little guilty. After all, Archie was clear that this rumor came from me. I awkwardly cleared my throat, trying to stifle my laughter, and finally managed to regain control of myself.
I greeted Louie and Gray, trying my best to diffuse the awkward tension that had settled between us. I felt the weight of Archie's eyes on me immediately, assessing my intentions. The atmosphere was thick with discomfort, like a dense fog enveloping us. However, before I could fully change the subject and break the suffocating silence, an annoying voice sounded among the she-wolves.
"What nonsense are you all spewing? If any of you dare to spread more rumors, I'll have Archie kill every single one of you!" It was Evita, her voice sharp and aggressive, slicing through the air like a blade. Her audacious threats were met with a mixture of shock and apprehension from the surrounding she-wolves.
A she-wolf asked carefully, "Do you know the Alpha of Golden Crest?"
"Of course! Archie treats me very well! Let me warn you all, I'm going to be the new Luna of Golden Crest, so you better be careful!" Her words were like sparks in a powder keg, igniting the ire of another awful presence, Erma, who seemed unwilling to let Evita's claims go unchallenged.
Erma stepped forward, her eyes narrowed in skepticism, and countered Evita's boast, "You're nothing but a liar! I've never seen you at Golden Crest, and you're not a member of our pack. Stop lying about Archie treating you well! Luna of Golden Crest? You're delusional!"
Louie and Gray exchanged a knowing glance, their expressions hinting at the amusement they found in Erma and Evita. I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the melodrama. I hated both of them.
The tension between Evita and Erma escalated rapidly, and I could feel the energy in the room shift, like the calm before a storm.
Erma's retort hit the mark, and Evita's facade of confidence wavered. She glared at Erma, attempting to regain her ground, and disdainfully spat back, "I know you, a human-favored little singer, but what's there to be proud of? In Golden Crest, you're nothing but a useless omega! My dad is the Alpha of Black Furies, and I have a nobler status than you!"
Erma's eyes flashed with cunning as she seized the opportunity to expose the flaw in Evita's claim, "Black Furies? If I remember correctly, they're just a low-ranking pack. So, theoretically, you shouldn't even qualify to be in the VIP area. How did you end up here? Did you sneak in like a thief?"
Some she-wolves started to regard Evita with skepticism, and even a hint of disdain, and other she-wolves began to distance themselves from her, clearly unimpressed by her empty display of power. Evita's lack of wit became painfully apparent as she stumbled to respond. Her face turned red with embarrassment and rage as she shouted with spite, "You dare insult me! I'll have my brother-in-law break your legs and kick you out of Golden Crest!"
Erma's expression turned more alert, and she questioned cautiously, "Who's your brother-in-law? How could Black Furies dare to attack a member of Golden Crest?"
Evita responded arrogantly, "My brother-in-law is Archie! You're done for, you wretch!"
But surprisingly, Erma seemed relieved by Evita's answer and retorted with a hint of mockery, "Oh, I see. But even your sister Alisha is on the verge of being cast out because she can't conceive an heir. It seems like there are issues among your Black Furies. How can you still call Archie your brother-in-law?"
"Alisha's problems don't mean I have any! One day, you'll kneel before me and repent!" Evita shot back defiantly.
Another she-wolf nearby quickly chimed in, "So, is it true that your Luna can't bear children? Does that mean your Alpha is fine?"
Erma chuckled and replied, "Of course! Our Alpha has no problems! The issues lie with our—"
Although I was glad to watch the fight between Evita and Erma, I couldn't stand Erma insulting me and Black Furies any further. Black Furies was my grandmother's pride, and I couldn't allow anyone to tarnish its name.
I took a few steps forward and interrupted Erma, "The one with the issues is you!"
My voice was firm, and my eyes locked onto Erma's with a mixture of determination and anger. I couldn't let her continue spreading false rumors and belittling my pack. Even though Archie was here, I wanted to defend our honor and show her that we wouldn't tolerate such disrespectful behavior.
Erma seemed taken aback by my appearance. She opened her mouth and seemed to retort, but the next second, she noticed Archie and turned stunned. Then she closed her mouth and lowered her head right away.
Fuck!
Erma's arrogant demeanor quickly disappeared when she saw Archie approaching. I took the opportunity to speak up, "Erma, as a member of Golden Crest, what gives you the right to criticize me and Black Furies?"
Erma glanced at me, feigning a look of fear, "I'm sorry, Luna. It's all my fault. Please forgive me. I just wanted to clarify the facts and protect the Alpha's reputation."
Seeing Archie walking over to our side, I guessed that he was here to support Erma. But I wasn't going to give him that chance. Ignoring the expressions and reactions of others around us, I continued to reprimand Erma, "I don't accept your apology. You must get punishment for your action. And as for your so-called clarification of facts, hmph, how can you guarantee that what you're saying is the truth?" I knew Erma wanted to slander me, but I wouldn't let her do it.
While Erma's pregnancy did prove that Archie wasn't impotent, I was sure she wouldn't dare to disclose that in public.
As expected, Erma was left speechless by my words. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she put on a pitiful act, trying to make herself appear as an innocent victim. Then, she glanced at Archie, hoping he would take her side.
I kept my gaze on Archie, showing no signs of backing down. I was determined not to let Erma off easily today.
Archie stood beside me, his face darkening. He surveyed the surroundings before speaking, "Indeed, others have no right to say. When it comes to my situation, the most authoritative witness would be my dear wife. Alisha, please tell everyone how I perform on bed?"
