Alisha's POV
I watched in awe as Louie's power manifested, the icy aura surrounding him making him look like a mythical figure, a king of ice and snow. His eyes glowed with intensity, a mixture of anger and determination. In that moment, he appeared larger than life, a force to be reckoned with.
The forest fell into an eerie silence as Louie's icy power held the rogue wolves captive. The tension in the air dissipated, replaced by an otherworldly calm. I couldn't believe what I was witnessing – Louie had not only saved me from the impending danger but also incapacitated the entire pack of rogue wolves.
The realization of Louie's extraordinary abilities filled me with awe and gratitude. Louie's dual nature never ceased to amaze me. In my memory, he had always been a gentle werewolf, someone who cherished art, loved music, and possessed a kind and caring heart. I never could have imagined that the same Louie would display such astonishing power on the battlefield. It was as if he wore two different masks—the gentle artist and the fierce warrior.
The gentle breeze caressed Louie's fur, creating a sense of tranquility in the midst of the icy aftermath. With every step he took, crunching the snow beneath his paws, he approached me steadily. His eyes never left mine, as if I was the most cherished treasure in his world.
Suddenly, a rush of anxious footsteps echoed through the area. Both Louie and I tensed up, our senses on high alert. Louie's low growl reverberated through the air, a clear warning to whoever was approaching. I stood by his side, my heart pounding, unsure of who or what we were about to encounter.
Through the darkness, several figures emerged, and as the moonlight illuminated their faces, my breath caught in my throat—they were all fully armed werewolves, each carrying weapons in their hands. The glint of silver and steel reflected the moonlight, signifying their readiness for battle.
The tension in the air grew palpable as the two groups faced off. Louie's icy presence seemed to unnerve the warriors, but they didn't back down. Instead, the leader of the group stepped forward, his eyes narrowing as he assessed Louie and me.
"Who are you, and what are you doing in our territory?" the leader demanded, his voice laced with authority.
Louie's growl deepened, his fur bristling with a newfound intensity. "We are invited to attend the Blood Dawn's ceremony, but we got attacked from the rogues here." I responded, trying to keep my voice steady.
The leader's eyes narrowed further, seemingly unconvinced. "Really? And what business do you have coming here in the dead of night?"
As we stood there surrounded by armed wolves, the tension in the air was palpable, and I felt the weight of the situation pressing down on us. The moon hung high above, casting an ethereal glow upon the snowy ground, turning the forest into an enchanting yet perilous realm.
I decided to explain our circumstances without revealing too much. "You can see for yourself that these frozen rogue wolves attempted to attack us. As for our identities, you can take us to your pack, and someone there can verify who we are." My heart raced with anxiety as I carefully chose my words. I couldn't tell them about Louie's origin from Deep Moon, fearing that it might jeopardize his safety. As for myself, I couldn't let Louie know that I came from the Golden Crest.
The leader, a burly and weathered wolf with a battle-hardened demeanor, glanced around and then focused on the white wolf beside me, asking, "You're from the Blancato family?" The white wolf nodded with an air of dignified assurance.
With that confirmation, the leader made a subtle gesture, and his warriors slowly put away their weapons. The atmosphere seemed to relax slightly, but I remained vigilant. He then handed Louie a set of clothes, which the white wolf took in his mouth. After a brief nod in my direction, he retreated to a secluded spot in the shadows to change.
Feeling relieved that the immediate danger had passed, I started to relax my tense muscles, and that's when I realized the severity of the wound on my back. Though I had tried to use my Gift to treat it earlier, I had only managed to stop the bleeding. The wound was still serious, and even the slightest movement caused immense pain.
Suddenly, a gentle hand rested on my shoulder, and human-Louie looked at me with genuine concern. "I'm sorry you got hurt," he said with a sincerity that touched my heart.
Turning to face Louie, I expressed my gratitude, "If it wasn't for you, I might not have made it through tonight. I can't thank Moon Goodness enough for bringing you by my side."
Louie's warm smile was like the soft moon in the sky, and he replied, "I also thank Moon Goodness who gave me the chance to save you."
His words filled me with a sense of security, and I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of trust towards him. I knew that I could rely on him no matter what challenges we faced.
"If you don't mind, I'll carry you back. That way, it won't put any strain on your wound," Louie suggested, his eyes brimming with care.
With a grateful smile, I nodded. Louie gently cradled me in his arms, and I felt a sense of comfort and safety enveloping me. As we walked back towards the pack, I couldn't help but ask, "How did you come to the Blood Dawn?"
Louie's eyes sparkled as he replied, "Do you remember what I mentioned earlier? I came to meet my friend and his wife. Never thought you'd be here too."
I chuckled softly at the unexpected twist of fate that brought us together in this unfamiliar territory. "Yeah, you must have a close relationship with your friend." After all, Deep Moon was quite far from here. I never thought Louie's friends were in Blood Dawn.
Louie raised his eyebrow. "Haha, it's mostly because I'm interested in meeting his wife. When they got married, I was unable to attend their wedding ceremony, so I've never had the chance to meet her before, but I believe she must be a kind and wonderful person to tolerate my friend's fiery temper. Maybe you two will become good friends."
"Your friend wouldn't like to hear this, but I'm really looking forward to meeting her," I replied, my voice filled with anticipation. The pain in my back seemed to lessen as I felt safe and protected in his arms.
