Alisha's POV
Evita's revelation left me utterly stunned. I hadn't imagined that the attack on the island had any connection to Evita. It was clear she wasn't the sole person with a vendetta against me, and that was deeply unsettling.
Suppressing my anger, I inquired, "Does Joey know about this? Attacking the Golden Crest's members, especially its Luna, is tantamount to declaring war on the Golden Crest. This will plunge the Black Furies into the abyss of destruction, and no one can withstand Archie's fury as the Alpha."
Evita laughed mockingly, "Hahaha, without my father's approval, how could I have successfully tricked you into coming back here? Don't worry; once you are gone, this secret will be buried with you. Archie will marry me, and I will l become the new Luna of the Golden Crest, forging the strongest alliance between the Black Furies and the Golden Crest!"
I hadn't expected that Joey and Evita would join forces, using Magaly as a pretext to deceive me into returning. I gazed at Evita's malicious and smug expression, trying to delay as much time as possible, hoping that Louie and Gray would notice something amiss here and manage to save me.
So, I provocatively told Evita, "It's impossible. You'll never become the next Luna. Archie absolutely despises you. You are just dreaming!"
Evita screamed in anger, "No! Joey will help me! If it weren't for you, I would already be with Archie!"
I shook my head and continued to infuriate her, "Archie doesn't love you. Even if I'm not the Luna, he won't choose you. He will make the person he truly loves the next Luna."
"Which bitch seduced Archie? After I kill you, I will deal with her right away!"
I squinted my eyes, then lowered my head, pretending to look sorrowful. I said, "Actually, the person Archie truly loves is Erma. She has even carrying Archie's child. Erma is Archie's destined mate. If it weren't for Archie's grandmother choosing me then, Erma would have become the Luna of the Golden Crest. So, your real rival isn't me; it's Erma. If you kill me, you will help Erma to be the next Luna."
My intention was to divert Evita's focus and anger away from me and onto Erma. As expected, after hearing my words, Evita's eyes widened, and she angrily said, "No wonder this wench had the audacity to collaborate with a rogue for the attack. She had been prepared all along!"
Hearing Evita's words, my heart skipped a beat. Erma had also been involved in the previous attack? What on earth was going on!
I tried my best to remain calm and asked Evita, "You and Erma are in cahoots? Did you both collaborate in the previous attack on the island?"
Evita squinted her eyes and then looked at me, saying, "You seem to know too much. I have had enough of all you women, always circling Archie, trying to seduce him. I'm going to take each one of you down, one by one!"
Seeing Evita's expression turning sinister, I realized she might soon lay hands on me. So, I no longer hesitated and shouted at the top of my lungs, "Help! Help!" And I threatened Evita, "If you dare to harm me, you will pay the price!"
Evita, however, paid no attention to my cries. She said, "After today, no one will care about you. Go to hell with Magaly!"
The next moment, she shifted into a black wolf and charged straight at me.
There were no weapons in the entire treatment room for defense or attack. All I could do was run to the bed where Magaly lay, but that would undoubtedly put Magaly in danger as well.
I watched in horror as the black wolf opened its bloodthirsty jaws, displaying sharp teeth and pounced toward me. I couldn't do anything but run to the window.
Using my arm, I shattered the glass while continuing to call for help. I hoped to escape outside, but the wolf's teeth sunk into my abdomen and dragged me away from the window. I struggled with all my might, blood staining the floor beneath me. I felt an excruciating pain, as if I were a fragile towel about to be torn in two.
I knew I had no wolf or Gift, and faced with Evita's wolf form, I had almost no chance of winning. I was about to become nothing more than a broken corpse under her jaws.
But I didn't want to give up. I grabbed a piece of glass from the window and, when the black wolf was not paying attention, I thrust it toward her eyes with all my power. The attack caught the black wolf by surprise, and blood gushed out instantly. The pain from the glass made the black wolf suffer, and it howled in agony and anger while rolling on the ground.
I had a moment to catch my breath, but I couldn't let my guard down. I quickly picked up another shard of glass, even if it meant cutting my palm. It was the only weapon I could wield at the moment, and I was determined to use it until the very end.
The black wolf slowly got back up from the ground, glaring at me fiercely. I knew it wanted to tear me apart. Sure enough, the next moment, it charged directly at me, pinning me to the ground, claws holding my arms in place. This prevented me from using the glass shard. It lowered its head, mouth wide open, ready to bite off my head.
Its sharp wolf fangs gleamed, blood covering its mouth. My strength couldn't help me escape this situation, and it seemed like death was imminent, my fate sealed.
My heart was filled with a strong sense of unwillingness. Was everything really going to end today?
Just as the black wolf's teeth were about to pierce my neck, I saw a large brown wolf charging straight at the black wolf. Its teeth sank viciously into the black wolf's neck.
