Alex had been away for three days.
Everything in Selmy family was the same as usual.
Lita could only learn from Alice about Ethan's conditions.
But she was still blocked by Doctor Owen and Harry outside the door. She really wanted to argue with them. Why couldn't she go to see her husband? Who gave them the right to refuse her to enter the treatment room?
By law, she, as Ethan's wife, should be the first guardian. Being badgered by Lita for too long, Harry finally had to say, "It's Ethan who doesn't want to see you."
The fact was that Ethan was satisfied as long as he could see Lita from the surveillance system and make sure she was safe. He didn't want to see her personally, mostly because of his self-esteem. He used to be an outstanding man, but now he was disabled by the fire and couldn't even take care of himself. Ethan really didn't want to show his hideous side to Lita.
What's more, Ethan felt that he was going to leave this world soon. Why should he leave an indelible shadow Lita's mind? He thought his face was monstrous and couldn't be shown to anybody.
Lita wondered why Ethan suddenly wouldn't want to see her. Last time, when he went to the shareholders' meeting of Selmy's Group and reiterated his ownership with her, he still cared about her. Why did he not want to see her all of a sudden?
How could Ethan change so much in such a short period of time? He didn't even want his lawful wife just for Yen. All that he desired was to unite with Yen in heaven? But the point was that Yen was still alive!
If Ethan knew that Yen was still alive, would he regain his desire for life? Would he stop being so negative and do more than basic treatment to maintain his life?
If the news that Yen was still alive could help Ethan regain his confidence and love for life, Lita would definitely tell him the news without hesitation. As for what would happen to her as his wife, it was no longer important, because Ethan's life was more important than anything else.
But in an instant, what Alex's words came to her mind again "You can't tell him this news unless you have to. Do you understand?"
Obviously, Ethan was the person Alex cared about most in the world. But why would he hide the news that Yen was still alive from Ethan? Was there any secret that couldn't be revealed to others? But nothing could be more important than saving Ethan's life.
Lita did not know the subtle relationship between the two brothers or the relationship between Ethan and Yen, so she still decided to follow to Alex's instruction and not tell Ethan the news that Yen was alive randomly. Because no one cared more about Ethan's life than Alex did. He must have got his reasons not to reveal the news.
Lita was puzzled why she was spiritless for the past three days.
Alex had been away for three days, but there was no news from him. He didn't even call. Or maybe he had called, but didn't call her. Lita was sure that it wasn't possible that Alex didn't ask about his brother's conditions in the past days.
Now he was alone outside. Could an arrogant and picky person like him sleep well and eat well...
'God, am worried about his safety, or am I concerned about him?"
Then she tried to explain to herself that it was her responsibility as his sister-in-law to care about his safety.
At around eight o'clock in the evening, Ann went downstairs after serving Ethan's dinner.
"Ann, how is Ethan? How's his appetite?" Lita asked with concern while looking at the tray in Alice's hand. On the tray, only one third of the fluid food was gone and the soft cakes and vegetable juice remained untouched.
"It's still the same. He only ate a little every meal. The amount he ate was only enough to make him survive." Alice let out a long sigh.
Lita felt her her stomach knot with worry.
"Alice, could you please talk to Harry and Doctor Owen and ask them to let me get into the treatment room to feed Ethan. He is already weak, and he is still not willing to eat. This will only make his condition worse."
Alice shook her head. "Even Alex's coercion didn't work. Very probably your words won't work either. Besides, Ethan feels bad about his looking. How can he be willing to see you?"
"But I've already seen him several times. I've already gotten used to his looks," Lita explained.
Alice was stunned, as if she realized that she had had a slip of the tongue. Luckily Lita wasn't aware of it.
"By the way, Mrs. Selmy, has Alex called you in the past three days?"Alice asked, as she thought of something suddenly.
"No. Didn't he call you and Harry?" Lita asked instead.
"No..." Alice frowned again. "Alex is angry with Ethan. But this is good. Ethan would be worried about the safety of Alex every day, so he won't think about doing something stupid."
It turned out that in the past three days, Alex did not even contact Alice or Harry. He actually used this method to let Ethan worry about his safety every day, so that Ethan would not think about some negative things. Alex had done whatever he could for Ethan.
However, if Ethan couldn't get any information about Alex, would Alex get no information about Ethan too? Or did Alex have his own special methods? Judging from the evil deeds Alex had done to her Uncle Jack, Lita was sure that he must have his own way to get the information he wanted.
After reading a book on burns treatment in the living room for some time, she was about to go back to her room and continue with her graduation thesis, when a man broke in with irresistible force.
When she saw the person clearly, she was really stunned. This burly man was almost 1.9 meters tall, even stronger than Arnold Schwarzenegger. He was simply like a big bull.
The man who came in was Ben, the buddy hung out with Alex and Gavin all the time in the past.
"Who...who are you looking for?" Lita was instinctively afraid of him at the sight of his physique. Because of the precedent event of Ellie, Lita instinctively classified those who broke into the Selmy's house as bad people.
While asking, Lita had already taken out a baseball bat from under the coffee table. It was also because of the fight last time, this kind of baseball bat was available everywhere in the house.
Ben saw Lita. He gave her a thorough scan, which was comparable to a high- precision scanner
"Are you the woman Alex just married?" Seeing the woman holding a baseball bat with trembling hands, Ben raised his eyebrows and asked.
Whatever Gavin knew about Alex, Ben knew. Alex didn't hide his marriage from Gavin, and there was no need for him to hide it.
